Life Changing Surgery

I would fall into the younger generation category, 18-24. I struggled for years in relation to overgrown labias. Doing research, hating my appearance, doing more relentless research and feeling like I was none the wiser and worse off than before. For many years I suffered silently with discomfort, pain in everyday life, activities & embarrassing sexual situations to the point where I was no longer sexually active, even turning down great opportunities and sporting experiences because of being embarrassed. For years I suffered and struggled. I was unsure if I was unusual to everyone around me or if others were also in the same position. I contacted Kingsbridge and specifically requested Dr.Campbell based on research that I had conducted, knowing nothing much of the procedure or if I could be operated on, I thought he would be the best person to point me in the right direction or to give me some form of guidance or even peace of mind. I attended the clinic in February of 2021 and received my surgery in March of 2021. From the onset Dr.Campbell and Caroline could not have been more welcoming. Obviously upon entering the room I was extremely nervous and embarrassed to be frank. But as said, I was put immediately at ease with their welcoming and positive presence and aura. The consultation was quick yet professional and informative. He went through the entire procedure, drew diagrams, reassured me, and made me feel overall at ease. The turnaround from consultation and the surgery was less than 6 weeks due to a quick decision that I made and do not regret. I most definitely made the right decision for myself and my happiness. The operation went okay! I took a reaction to the anaesthetic and had to spend the night in Kingsbridge, whereas I thought I would be out the afternoon of the surgery. I insisted on going home but Dr.Campbell was ever the professional and stated I had to stay for my own well-being and I instantly felt it was the best decision as I was very ill at the time. The staff at the hospital could not be faulted in anyway, shape or form. Honestly the pain afterwards was immense. I’m aware that others can start back to work within a fortnight, however unfortunately that wasn’t the case for me. I experienced everything apart from infection (unfortunately but thankfully). I have only recently started back to training, however I am still taking the easy. I felt comfortable enough to message Dr.Campbell with any issues I was having and I was fortunate enough that at those times I was able to call into the Maypole Clinic and have a consultation that day/evening. He continuously messaged me throughout the months post operation due to the difficulties I had had. I had my final post op appointment this evening and i cold not be happier with the results. The before and after photos are unbelievable. I felt quite emotional looking at them and did not recognise myself. I have healed fully and you can barley make out a scar unless you knew you were looking for one. Wholeheartedly I can say that this has been the best decision I have ever made and I wish I had done it sooner. Now, I feel I can my true, authentic self without worrying or having a constant thought in my head about my physical appearance. I feel a massive sense of relief and comfort, not only in myself, but in my surroundings. Although only two people know about my surgery, everyone else can notice the changes in my confidence and personality. I’m generally happier and a lot healthier and fitter. If I would to offer any advice or guidance to any female in relation to this surgery it would be to get it. I understand it can be daunting, as I have been there myself, but I would do it all over again if I had too. Seek the information from Dr.Campbell and consider the procedure if you feel necessary.
