I had my surgery yesterday and extremely swollen. I look like a cabbage patch doll, and my lips are so so puffy, but it is to be expected. The nurse said day 3 &4 could be worse. :( Will post some pictures soon. Dr. Haworth is nice, and most of the staff was very nice but one person in particular who handles the financial part of Dr. Haworth's business/ quoting how much the procedures will cost, I felt that she is all about getting the person to get the procedure and have them pay. Will write more tomorrow...I am going to get some rest.

I have experienced that "financial pressure" at a different PS office. Like why? Geezz. Sorry you are so swollen! Fast healing to you!!
It will get better, the first few days after surgery are the worst and can be depressing. Wishing u the best recovery. Could you please post how much the total cost for procedures was and if possible the individual procedures.
Haworth did my lip lift 6 years ago and it left horrible scars for which I'm now seeing another doctor.
If you dont mind me asking....How much did your lip lift cost?
Please do not let negative comments worry you when you are healing. I had exact same procedures as you did and they take time to heal. The swelling takes a number of months to resolve. I felt good at around 6 weeks post op but everyone heals at different rates. I must get these post sent to my news feed from this site because we have the same doctor. I reply because I remember how worried I was during the healing process.
Thank you so much for your comment. I have been freaking out that I will look like a monster for ever...I am so incredibly worried right now, im 2 weeks post op, and the scar under my nose and corners of my lips are bumpy and really red. Im hoping they will resolve in the next couple weeks. Do you have stiffness still in your upper lip? And was your nose numb? I'm worried i won't be able to smile.
Everything you wrote was similar to what I experienced. At two weeks post op I looked like a freak. If you click my name you can see my pictures from my review, but I think I started posting at 3 weeks post op. I took down my day after picture, but I did look a lot like a cabbage patch doll lol;) In the first pictures it did not seem to show how swollen I was in person. I do recommend contacting Dr Haworth's office to make sure everything is healing ok if you have concerns.

It was not until around 6 weeks post op where I started to feel somewhat normal. I felt like I still looked swollen though, but fiends and family did not seem to notice. At 2-3 months I felt like I looked really good and by 4 months most of the swelling resolved, but it took a year to see full results for me. When I write full results I mean the tightness in the incision under the nose went away completely.

PLEASE try not to worry. I did not go anywhere at two weeks, but some women do not have the swelling I had and feel fine at two weeks, so everyone is different. I think you will have a lot of improvement within the next two weeks especially with the medialized corner lip lift, but it really takes a number of months for the redness, swelling and incision to heal under your nose (if you heal like I did). You had surgery on a very sensitive area of your face and it takes time to heal. Make-up can hide the incision in a few weeks where others will not see it. The corners faded pretty quickly for me and in a month I had dramatic improvement. I also had a little lump in the corners that sort of pulled when I smiled, due to the internal stitch. You have an internal stitch in the corners and it takes a number of months to dissolve and flatten, and you also have internal stitches under your nose and on your lips (I don't know how he does it on the lips). For myself they started out a little raised/bumpy and red. The line did flatten out and turned white. I was REALLY worried about those lines on my lips, but they went away and are not visible now unless I pull the skin and REALLY look in the mirror. Others cannot see them without makeup. I did have a laser treatment on my incisions by Dr Haworth.

The under the nose incision took the longest for me to heal. I had two lips lifts. It takes a while for the incision to turn from red to pink to white, and for the bumpiness to resolve. At 6 weeks I could go out with foundation and no one knew I had surgery.

Part of my nose was numb (tip) and I also had slight numbness in the incision area of my nose and center part of base of nose. This numbness resolved, but it took some time.

I did have tightness at the incision under my nose and upper lip. This takes months to resolve completely, but it does go away. It helped me to to do lip exercises. I don't know if it is too early for you to start, but if you ask Dr Haworth's office they will let you know. They helped with movement. The first 4 months is the worst with tightness, but you will see every month it gets better. Between around 9-12 months is when the under the nose incision tightness completely resolved for me.Smiling and eating and drinking through a straw were challenging the first week or two.

Dr Haworth's lip procedures seem to cause more swelling than skin only lip lifts when I see reviews on this site, but in my opinion the results are worth it. Try not to compare your healing with the lip lifts that are skin only on this site because they are a different, less evasive procedure. Again, I recommend contacting his office if you have concerns with healing or your incision.
Thank you so much for taking your time to write this...you gave me hope that I will have a beautiful smile again... I tried smiling today and I look horrible. So its good to know the tightness will go away. I still cant drink from a straw, and I also have the lumps on the corners of my mouth. I massaging the corners daily and I feel a thick tight lump... so im REALLY happy to know that will go away, along with the little bumps under my nose. Its really ironic that you commented on my post, your pictures actually made me to seal the deal with Dr. Haworth. Your lips are absolutely beautiful, and I only hope they will turn out like yours. My biggest concern is that I feel like my mouth width is slightly shortened. I already have a small mouth, and now i feel likes its so much smaller, I can barely open my mouth. Did that happen with you and were you able to open your mouth wider as the months went on? And did your smile change? Again, thank you so much for responding.... It makes me feel a lot better with my decision, I cried the other day because I felt like I made a wrong decision. But so good to know the tightness, numbness, bumps and redness will all go away.
I am glad I made you feel better. I had similar fears after both of my surgeries.I do not remember my mouth width feeling shorter, but I do remember it felt tight, swollen and uncomfortable. I just remember how tight and swollen everything felt. The surgeries you had should not have shortened the width that I am aware of, but the internal stiches may make your mouth feel that way. I would recommend to ask Dr Haworth about your concerns. He does have post op procedures he may be able do to help with healing issues. Do you live close or are you out of town? If you are out of town I would recommend calling his office and talk to one of his office girls. They are very sweet. I called and e-mailed several times after my surgeries when I had concerns.

I did get all of my movement back but thee is one thing that remains different and it is after I put lip stick on when I move my lips sideways to rub it in, it is not the same. This is because my upper lip is shorter (I assume). I have written others on this site and they also have this post lip lift, but to me this is a minor side effect worth the results (IMO).

My second lip lift is when I noticed I had difficulties drinking out of a straw for the first month or two). Dr Haworth had me do lip exercises and he also injected something in my incision. I think what happens is the swelling pulls your lip upward and also tightness in the incision may cause this (not sure). It may be the surgery itself. Doing lips exercises did seem to help but also I just had to wait to heal.

The lumps on the corners is internal stitches, and it will just take some time for them to dissolve. The same thing with the lines along your lip line. If they are slightly raised as mine were, they just took time to flatten and turn white.

Yes all of my tightness and bumps went away, but I did have a laser treatment and an injection in my incision post op by Dr Haworth. His post op treatments were included. Again, I recommend making an appointment, or call his office just to make sure everything is healing as it should be. You are still very early in recovery from this.
Sorry about the typos, and I forgot to answer a few of your questions. My smile was only different when I was healing. I smile normal now and I can open my mouth as wide as I did previously, and I can drink out of a straw. At 10 month post op 95% of tightness has gone away under my nose. I assume at 12 months it will be completely gone. I recommend to ask his office if you can start mouth exercises (it may be too early unknown).
You are such a Gem to have shared so much information! May I ask how long did it take for you go heal and your skin and incision to no longer be red or raw and finally be perfect and incision invisible??? Thank you and God bless you!
I'm referring to after you had the laser on your incision by Dr.Haworth???
He does a laser the day of the surgery after he sutures and also anytime if you need it after. It has been a while since my lip lift, but I think it was around the 4 month mark where a lot of the pinkness went away. You will see your scar will change as time goes by.
