Upper eyelid surgery

I changed my rating to 3 stars since I’m still not happy with my results 1 year later. My asymmetry is depressing. I tried different “makeup tricks” and hate how I look, can’t stand to take pictures. Only reason I didn’t rate it less is because I chose to have this surgery done. Was hoping it would correct itself with time, but now 1 year out. I would say I regret my decision :(
Currently looking into corrective surgery and not sure where to start, so many what if’s

I can see the asymmetry, but you don't look bad. I think a correction may help you feel better. Have you written a letter/email to the surgeon? Maybe they would consider doing a revision on the one eye? I'd see how they respond. If you haven't maybe write reviews on Google yelp etc? Just trying to give you some ideas.

I'm sorry you're unhappy w your results, but I'm right there w you. I had an upper blepharoplasty a few months before you and I noticed my right eye incision was visible and much higher (not in crease) than my left eye. I asked about my eye each visit and was continually told to wait until swelling went down. Then swelling was gone and then my PS denied anything looked odd, but it does look horrible. My right eyelid droops now and I went to an ophthalmologist who said either a nerve or muscle was cut in right eye and diagnosed me w Ptosis. Not only that, both of my eyelids are reddish purple w lots of broken capillaries, especially on the messed up eye. I hate looking in the mirror and hate photos. I will now have to seek a revision.

I looked at your pre-op pictures, and you can definitely see a asymmetry, your right eyebrow is lower than the other. That said, no one's eyes are perfectly symmetrical, your eyes look great. If you want an eyebrow lift, I'd find another surgeon. The only one who notices the tiny asymmetry is you

It's not your eyebrows that are uneven. They look fine. It could be your eyes. I know mine aren't even. But they look good.

I think they look fantastic and would never notice that!

2 Month Follow-Up

Disappointed at my 8 week follow up yesterday. I told my Dr my concerns about my right eye drooping more, I let him know they look un uneven and that i was not satisfied with the results, asked what can be done to fix it. Sad to say his response was that it can’t be fixed, said that my eyebrow position was the problem. He told me my right brow is lower and the only way to fix it would be a brow lift, but said it would leave a scar above my brow. He said Botox might help, so I paid for Botox which I noticed helped a little bit, but this is just a temporary fix.
I’m not 100% convinced that the only way to fix it is with a brow lift, so I’ll be seeking a 2nd opinion for possible revision in the near future.

If you go back and look at your before picture I hope you’ll see how big of an improvement you have gotten! I think your result is fantastic. It always helps to have the right expectations so I’m sure you’d feel better about the *slight* difference between eyes if your doctor had pointed it out before surgery. I have a lower brow as well and so expect that eyelid to not be quite as perky. My surgery is Wed so I’m glad to see your in depth review.

Also, I’ve had other cosmetic surgeries before and each time I struggled with being unhappy with the result at first. I think it comes from being anxious and a bit of a perfectionist. But try to trust in your doctor’s expertise and please know you look great with a hugely impactful result!

Thank you, i appreciate the positivity in your comment. Helps put me at ease, I do notice a great improvement from before, but it's the asymmetry that really bothers me. Also to be fair my Dr did mention my lower brow pre-surgery, I think I may have just not realized what the outcome wold be. The Botox did help however. It's temporary while I figure out what to do about my asymmetry. Good luck on your upcoming surgery! :)

I think it looks great. It has really improved over time

Thank you :)

You’re going to be super critical of it for obvious reasons but just know to someone who doesn’t know you the asymmetry is not noticeable and I think you look great!!

hello. i am having very simliar issues with the results of my upper bleph. it is very emotiional to be disappointed with the results. i am currently seeking out options for revision b/c my outcome is very troubling. i need to have reconstruction and will probably have to pay so much to fix, i will not let my original surgeon touch me again b/c i lost faith in him. i wish i chose a better surgeon. i hope and pray that your eyes get better and you get the results you had hoped for. buyer beware! everyone should do very thorough research before doing any elective surgery.

Very disheartening to be disappointed, i still plan on looking into revision, just allowing a few more months in the hopes that I'm still healing, but the more time goes by, the more I feel like my left eyelid was overcorrected. The center edge of it is more visible (lifted) making it look more of a rounded appearance than the other eye, if that makes sense.

I have the exact same results as you. My left eye looks bigger and I too felt like my left eyelid was over-corrected, or my right eyelid was under-corrected. The reason is that my right eyebrow droops and is lower than the left. The surgery made it more noticeable, and sorry to say, the same thing is true in your situation. Your surgeon was honest and told you this beforehand. Mine did not.

I had a botched eyelid lift where my first surgeon made the eyelids really thick and uneven. Fortunately, I found a really great surgeon to correct his work and he has done a wonderful job but one eyelid is still thicker than the other due to the first surgery (but not really noticeable). I have the same problem you have, one eyebrow is a bit lower than the other, and my second surgeon suggested it could be lifted but thought it would be better to wait a bit. I can see that if your eyebrow was lifted, it would make a huge difference to the symmetry problem. I honestly don't think anyone will want to touch your eyelids as they look fine, it's just a matter of getting more of the eyelid to show. Just my opinion ;)

I’m sad to see I’m not the only disappointed one. My doctor had zero patience for questions but his expertise is world renowned, so I did the surgery anyway, not being 100% comfortable. My eyes are not totally symmetrical and one lid line in the outer corner droops down too much. Overall, my hooded eyes are better but that corner will now haunt me.

Haven’t updated in a while, mainly because I don’t feel there’s a noticeable change. Not really 100% satisfied since I feel my results are looking asymmetrical. My left lid still has that swollen look to it right below the incision, and really questioning if it’s truly swelling. And my right lid still droops quite a bit. I have consider looking into a revision, but I’ll wait to bring it up on my follow up appointment in January.

Hi you look great but a little asymmetrical which could be swelling? I didn't notice that the stitching on your eyelids looked a little different on each side. I am almost 3 weeks post and am finding my upper eye area under brow to still be puffy - I am worried he did not take out enough fat. I am hoping it is swelling though.

I think you look great and there's definitely an improvement. Maybe the surgeon was trying to be conservative in his approach. I had my eyes done too and I have some asymmetry as well but I'm trying to appreciate the overall improvement.

Beautiful result! I would be so happy with that result! Try not to focus on the small differences.

A small asymmetry make your eyes look very natural and beautiful.
