Had my upper blepharoplasty today! Process was quick and easy! Swelling and pain was minimal right after, had to take Tylenol once anesthesia wore off since felt slight stinging. Hope I see great results once healed. Updated on 5 Nov 2020: Swelling has set in, woke up swollen and gradually increased throughout the day, with some bruising by the evening. Still no pain. Updated on 6 Nov 2020: My eyes are similar in shape now, but bruising under both eyes and swelling still hasn’t gone down. No pain, just discomfort if. Move my eyes around too much. Updated on 7 Nov 2020: Woke up with less swelling today, it kind of came and went throughout the day. It’s much better than yesterday since my eyelids don’t have as much of the tight feeling anymore. Noticed some drooping still on my right eye, still to soon to see end results but hopefully it’s not uneven Updated on 8 Nov 2020: Swelling is so much better every day. My bruising is changing colors now, looks greener, sign that it healing well. Right top lid still looking droopy.. hope it’s just the swelling. Updated on 9 Nov 2020: Not much change today, besides under eye swelling has gone down. My Left lash line has been swollen and hasn’t one down much, hopefully it goes down in the next day or two. Updated on 10 Nov 2020: Might be off on my days since i counted surgery Day as “Day 1”..oh well, it’ll be a week from surgery tomorrow. Not much change from day 6 to 7. I have been getting some itching, mostly under my left lash line figured it’s part of the healing process. Also bruising seems to be fading fairly quickly. Updated on 11 Nov 2020: One week from surgery today! This has felt like for ever!! Still some swelling and bruising, mostly on my left eyelid. I’m ready to have my stitches removed tomorrow Updated on 12 Nov 2020: Stitches came off today, they say healing is going well, still swollen but will continue to getting better. Final results in January 2021. Updated on 14 Nov 2020: Skipped day 9 since there hasn't been much change. Today bruising is finally gone, except for a little tiny bit by my nose on my left eye. My left lid also starting to even out! Whew! Was a little scared for a bit lol. Updated on 18 Nov 2020: Left lid still looks a little swollen, both feel a little tight, all bruising is all gone. Scar feels a bit rough and has a ways to go to flatten out a bit. Updated on 20 Dec 2020: Haven’t updated in a while, mainly because I don’t feel there’s a noticeable change. Not really 100% satisfied since I feel my results are looking asymmetrical. My left lid still has that swollen look to it right below the incision, and really questioning if it’s truly swelling. And my right lid still droops quite a bit. I have consider looking into a revision, but I’ll wait to bring it up on my follow up appointment in January. Updated on 17 Jan 2021: Disappointed at my 8 week follow up yesterday. I told my Dr my concerns about my right eye drooping more, I let him know they look un uneven and that i was not satisfied with the results, asked what can be done to fix it. Sad to say his response was that it can’t be fixed, said that my eyebrow position was the problem. He told me my right brow is lower and the only way to fix it would be a brow lift, but said it would leave a scar above my brow. He said Botox might help, so I paid for Botox which I noticed helped a little bit, but this is just a temporary fix. I’m not 100% convinced that the only way to fix it is with a brow lift, so I’ll be seeking a 2nd opinion for possible revision in the near future. Updated on 9 Dec 2021: I changed my rating to 3 stars since I’m still not happy with my results 1 year later. My asymmetry is depressing. I tried different “makeup tricks” and hate how I look, can’t stand to take pictures. Only reason I didn’t rate it less is because I chose to have this surgery done. Was hoping it would correct itself with time, but now 1 year out. I would say I regret my decision :( Currently looking into corrective surgery and not sure where to start, so many what if’s
Changes in the socket (enophthalmos) are to be expected with the loss of an eye. A skilled Ocularist can often "build up" the ocular prosthesis in such a way that the eyelid sits a more normal, symmetrical position. I also recommend a consultation with an oculoplastic surgeon in your area to determine if an eyelid surgery (ptosis repair) would also help restore symmetry to the eye area. In severe cases of enophthalmos, the orbital implant that was surgically implanted during your initial surgery may be removed and replaced with a larger sphere.
Swelling for several days after lip injections can be completely normal. The lips are a very vascular area (lots of blood vessels) making soreness, bruising and swelling occur after any kind of injection. If you are experiencing severe pain that is not improving, or becoming worse as time goes on you should contact your injector. Otherwise, just use cool packs about 10 minutes our of every hour, try to avoid NSAIDS (ibuprofen, aspirin, Aleve, etc.) as they can increase bruising and swelling. In our office, we often give five days worth of Arnica Montana to begin immediately after treatment. Arnica is a homeopathic remedy for swelling and inflammation, and is widely available as a tablet and a topical gel at most health food stores. Try to minimize strenuous activity, working out can make swelling worse. If you have any bruising, be sure to keep the area protected in direct sunlight (bruises can "tattoo" into the skin with exposure to the sun while they are healing). Best of luck to you!
Forehead wrinkles and crow's feet are "dynamic" lines, meaning they are caused by muscle movement in the face. Although Juvederm can be used to "fill" lines, it does not have any effect on the muscle's ability to keep moving the area and creasing the skin. Botox injected into these areas will weaken the muscle that is causing the lines, allowing them to soften over time as well as preventing the lines from getting worse as time goes on. Most patients use 25-50 Botox units to treat these areas, we charge $12 per unit (our office is in Fresno, the Modesto area should be comparable). Botox results last 3-4 months. Juvederm can be used to treat acne scars, it just depends on the depth and severity of the scar. Some scars treat better than others. We prefer our Sciton Profractional laser for treating "pitted" acne scarring, the results are more permanent and can cover a much larger area than treating each individual scar with a filler product. These treatments are sold in a series of 3 for $1500, have minimal downtime, and are safe for most skin types.
Botox injected into the glabella area (frown lines between the eyebrows) as well as around the eyes (crow's feet) can be a great option for some patients that are experiencing mild eyelid droop due to the eyebrow falling a bit lower than the brow bone. By weakening these "downward-pulling" muscles, patients will often receive a lift to the brow area, which can open the eye area for a brighter, more refreshed and "lifted" appearance. These results will often last 3-4 months, and can buy the patient some time before having upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) or a brow lift surgery. In our practice, we will often use 25-50 Botox units, in Central California the average price of Botox is $10-15 per unit. Best of luck to you!
It appears that you may have been treated on settings that were too high for your skin type, and further heat and sun exposure may have caused the wound to become more severe. It is very important that you receive care for the burns, as they can scar and cause hyper pigmentation (permanent dark spots). Until you can see a physician who can prescribe topical creams, keep the areas moist with an occlusive balm such as Vaseline or Aquaphor and keep your legs completely covered from sun exposure. If you continue with your laser hair removal treatments, it is best to wait until the burns are completely healed and the machine needs to be turned down to a safe setting for your skin type.
