The incisions are too high - left with scars and a hollow look
Upper Eyelids
Since my upper blepharoplasty performed by Dr. Lisa Learn, I’ve been to 4 oculoplastic surgeons for their professional opinions and what if any revision can be done to her work. Unfortunately once too much skin and fat have been removed, there’s little that can be done. All the surgeons said similar things.
Dr. Learn cauterized fat, which now I’m told is not usually done with men as it can lead to a hollow look, which it did. Removing fat was never discussed and I wouldn’t have agreed to it. The incisions are too high, leaving me with scars that are visible in the daylight. I was more of a candidate for a brow lift, Dr. Learn said she didn’t like to do brow lifts with men because it leads to a scared look, which is not true if done by a skilled surgeon. You can see numerous examples of men who’ve had successful brow lifts on Real Self.
During my consultation with Dr. Learn I emphasized that I wanted a subtle change, she agreed. After showing my before pictures to other plastics surgeons, they ALL said the change was drastic, certainly not subtle. She removed too much skin and fat leaving me with a hallow and uneven look, the result of tissue and fat being removed around my inner eyes. During one of post surgery follow up visits, I told her my eyes didn’t look hollow before the surgery, she said she’d have to look at the picture yet she never went to get them, why?
My partner also had upper blepharoplasty, which she didn’t perform evenly and had to be revised. Not surprising considering there was no measuring, she literally took 3 minutes marking where she’d cut. Seems it would take longer than that.
Dr. learn is NOT board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery which is the only plastic surgery board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. When you are searching for a plastic surgeon the one thing that you will read over and over is to chose a surgeon who is board certified by the ABPS, I wish I had known that.
After my Real Self review, look for a number of 5 star reviews posted in a relatively short time frame, in order to dilute my 1 star rating.
