In recent years, I have been interested in trying to repair my sun damaged skin. I have used Retin A for around four years or more now and have been astonished with the results and I have written a seperate review on my experiences with it.
In the last year though, I have really noticed a loss of volume beneath my eyes begin to return that was there before I started to use Retin A. You could say that Retin A turned the clock back about six years with collagen reproduction and about ten years or more with skin tone, smoothness and brightness etc.
In June of this year, I had a consultation with Dr Stawford about the possibility of getting my tear troughs filled with Restylane. I have read about so many horror stories though concerning this difficult to treat area and I was also concerned with having to continuously have regular and expensive maintenance treatment. Also, I didn't want a dramatic improvement, I just wanted a subtle result. I had my consultation with Dr Strawford and he carefully considered my concerns and convinced me to instead go for a filler called Ellanse in the upper cheek area as he felt this would help support my under eye area and give me the subtle look that I was hoping for. Ellanse also has the addd bonus of being longer lasting and the idea is that I would not need further treatment for at least eighteen to twenty-four months.
I found it difficult to find many reviews on this particular type of filler but after lots of searching and a further consultation with Dr Stawford, I felt completely reassured and was confident to go ahead.
Just one syringe of filler was injected in my upper cheeks and also a tiny bit from the same syringe was injected into my nose to mouth lines. The injections were not very painful but did feel very strange and I flinched like a big baby! If I have it done again in the future, I will know what to expect and will be more relaxed. Dr Strawford is an expert injector and has a fantastic technique. I was surprised at what little swelling I had and I did not have any bruising whatsoever. In fact, I went for lunch immediately afterwards to a busy restaurant.
I have added photos taken just before and after treatment and I have matched the lighting and positions as closely as possible so that you can compare the results.
Although you might find it difficult from looking at the photos to notice much difference, I am very pleased with the results. I almost wish I had gone ahead with a second syringe to add a little more volume and perhaps further address my nose to mouth and slight marionette lines. I think I might do this in the next month or two.
In an ideal world, I would still like my under eye hollows to be filled but all thing considered, I am happy (for now) to treat other areas of my face instead.

Thank you. That was my number once wish. I just wanted a natural result that perhaps only myself would notice.

Hi looks great! How much does he charge if you don't mind me asking? :)

Thanks! I am really pleased with the results, the second treatment has made all the difference and continues to improve each day. The costs are around £350-£400 per syringe and results should last around two years.

I had restalyne injected into tear troughs. Some of it stayed put. It settled under my tear troughs so I have a long speed bump under both eyes. It looks better than it did. I wasn't an outcome I expected. I'm 56.

Hi - I had tear-trough filler from apparently the 'Tear trough King' and it was terrible, I suffered huge speedbumps and 2 year later they are still there, never again will I have them done. I have just had Ellanse M last week and I could immediately see a slight difference, looking forward to the final outcome! x

I have never heard of ellanse m. What does it do?

Also the photo you see of me is before I have ever had anything done to my face. So you won't see those speed bumps here.

Decided on another small treatment

I was very pleased with my subtle results so decided to go for another syringe. It was used sparingly in several places, so again the overall results were subtle. The attached pic was taken a few days after the second treatment. I will try and take a pic in the same lighting and angle as the original two pics for better comparison but for now I just wanted to give a quick update.
The whole treatment was done in fifteen to twenty minutes and was painless; it was only slightly uncomfortable. I didn't suffer any bruising and had only very minimal redness for a couple of hours. I would highly recommend Ellanse. I love how it prompts the body to produce collagen and it is great that the effect is (reputed to be) longer lasting than most other fillers. I plan to update every now and then so that I can keep a record of how long it lasts for me.

You have been very brave to try the filler into the tear trough. I had a bad ecperience with juvederm and the puffiness still holds on after already 2 years. I am very afraid to try it again. Another experience with a filler in the marionette folds showed that the filler was floating downwards into the jawline. The jawline had little pochets there afterwards. Awfull!

I didn't have any filler in the actual year troughs, it was in the upper cheek area which helped to support the under eye area. My Dr didn't seem to want to inject in the rest trough itself, probably for the same reasons that you mention. I'm sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience. Apparently Ellanse has less chance of adverse reaction so maybe you might have had more success with that than Juverderm (if available in your country). Also, technique is more important than product which is why finding a good Dr is imperative. I had a terrible experience with Botox once which put me off for over half a decade. I have since trie it again with my current Dr and have been delighted with the results. Just because you have an awful experience doesn't mean you should necessarily be put off for life. It is good to be wary though.

Sorry for my terrible spelling errors. I'm typing on my phone with a heavy snoring cat on my lap.

Your results are excellent! Did he use the M version or the S? I have just had ellanse M to my cheeks, I syringe. I had Ellanse S last year which lasted a full year as expected, the M should last 2 years. Love this stuff! Great results and cost effective. Thanks for review, not enough on ellanse out there. Have just written mine.

Hi. I had Ellanse M. I am really beyond happy with the results which exceeded my expectations. Everytime I look in the mirror I smile because I previously had a crease in my left cheek (not noticeable in my above photo) running from my tear-trough down to my mid cheek (due to a combination of collagen depletion and sleeping on my left side).
Ellanse is incredible when administered by an experienced professional. I even had a little in my chin last visit and I wish I had a little more because I have a naturally weak chin and I am very pleased with the subtle improvement.
I am going to check out your review. I agree, not enough here about Ellanse!

I have had Ellanse in my marionette lines , 3 days ago , the physician push me to use 2 syringe of 1ml eac. OMG what a disaster never ever again I have 2 massive lumps, my left cheek is hanging all the way to the jaw, it's so noticeable I cannot go out, the lumps are very red, itching and really sore after 3 days
They are getting harder by the day
The shape of my face has changed overnight awful product
I have used Juvederm and other fillers
This is the worse of all
the physician was unprofessional only interested to sell more, which I was against but convinced me, how silly of me to listened to her
Now I'm trying to have the filler remove,
it's unbearable itching very hard lump and the sling is red and has expanded my pores my skin looks terrible

It's been a year and a half since my last treatment of Ellanse and I am only just starting to notice it 'wearing off'. I think I'll be all set at the two year mark for another small treatment inn the upper cheek area. I have been very pleased and impressed with the results and longevity.
