Finally Had my Breats reduction surgery

I have finally had my breast reduction surgery. Hurrayyy!!! (dancing emoji, dancing emoji)
This update is come a whole year after my surgery. I didn’t mean for it to be this long but this way I can give an in-depth over view
My surgery was on 21st January, 2019. I had to go private as NHS would not pay form my surgery. (Talk about post code lottery). I saw four surgeons and when I met Dr Nathan at Transform Cosmetic Surgery in the Milton Keynes clinic I knew he was my doctor. I was looking for a doctor who has done a lot breast reduction surgeries for BLACK women who were my breast size or even bigger. And boy did he have a lot of pictures to show me. He doesn’t talk much lol, but half way through my consultation I knew he was my doctor.

At my consultation with Dr Nathan I asked if I could get a D cup, he explained that it was not possible to guarantee an exact size because when he started “cutting” he would have to do it according to the shape of my body and how much tissue he could safely take away from me. My surgery date was set for the 21st of January 2019. The nurse talked about post-surgical bras, and advised I got two different sizes just in case. I bought Marks & Spencer Post Surgery Extra High Impact Non-Wired Sports Bra in sizes 40DD & 40E.

My surgery was going to be at Riverside Hospital, Great West Road, London. On the day my husband drove me to the hospital. He asked me if my mom could come to help us out during my recovery, I didn’t think we needed it, he asked her and she was all too happy to come help us with the kids during my recovery.

On the day I arrived at the hospital with my husband, I was shown to my private room, my surgery was by 11am, I changed into hospital surgical gear. Dr Nathan came in and took measurements and made makings on my breast. And said the nurse will bring me up to the operating room. Moments later the nurse came in and I followed her up.

At the OR the whole team were there, nurses, anaesthesiologist, Dr Nathan and another surgeon it was really surreal for me, this is what I have always wanted. I woke up later when I was being transferred to my bed in my private room. I always have this weird reaction to anaesthetics where i just want to throw it all up, but can't move a muscle. I try to put my fingers in my mouth to induce the vomit, (it’s a sorry sight. Happened after my C-section as well) hubby always gets a good laugh lol

When the anaesthetics wore off, I felt fine, and had pasta for dinner. They’d put the size 40E bra on me. It was a racer back bra so was not very comfortable, asides from that I was ok. I had a free nipple graft, due to the sheer amount of my breasts I was going to need it.

The next morning when I was about to be discharged, I started bleeding out and started feeling faint, turns out I had moved too much, (taking selfies and walking about my from as advised) my dressing was fixed and I was given IV fluids, and DR Nathan asked that I stay one more night, so they could monitor me. Next morning I was better and was discharged with a strict instruction to take it easy. My bandage was to be changed in 10 days.

At home I was propped up on lots of pillows. I was not in any pain, but I really missed sleeping on my side. So that was the only discomfort I had. Lucky thing my mom was around as I needed help with the kids, especially as hubby worked during the day.

On day 10 I had my first bandage change, I was so nervous, I thought my breast would fall off, lol. The nurse had a good laugh assuring me that she’s never seen that happen in all her 20 years of working.
I was soon sick of wearing the racer back bra it was so uncomfortable around my neck area. I had to look for something that wasn’t racer back. You’d be surprised at the lack of a good variety of post-surgical bras. I eventually bought the Royce Silver Post Surgery Bra, it was much better that the racer back.

Generally I was fine, I healed well, (Thank God), I read some people have trouble healing with the stitching that runs down the nipple. Two weeks later I went back to work. However my first day back took a huge toll on me, I had to leave work early. My kind manager suggested if I was not up to it I should just go home.

I’ve lost all sensation on my nipples, I miss the sensations when hubby played with the girls, but It was something I was ultimately willing to give up to have a more active life and not have shoulder pain, back pain and rashes under my breast.

The doctor told me that I would have Nerve Pain for up to two years, due to nerves in my breast area trying to regrow as much as possible. It took my about 4 months to stop wearing non-surgical bras, and I found that I had to always wear a bra, my breast just felt weird without it. Even now a year later, I sleep with a soft cup bra. It just feels better.

My breasts have settled to a nice size 36F. This is from a 36KK. (Although this would be a DD cup if I just lost some effing weight). I am happy with the outcome of my breast reduction surgery, the shape is fantastic. I no longer dread walking into a room filled with mostly men, people no longer stare at my breasts. My confidence has skyrocketed. I love running now, it’s amazing not to have that extra weight.

I paid £7125 for my surgery and it included hospital stay, change of dressings which I did weekly for about 3 months and even emergencies if I had to come back due to a complication, luckily I didn’t have to. The staff at the hospital were great and the nurses at the Transform Milton Keynes clinic are fantastic and very experienced.

Current Breast Situation.

This is currently what I am working with. Incredibly heavy. I wish for a C cup. Fingers crossed. Let's see what the PS says next week.

I have always had large breasts. By the time i was...

I have always had large breasts. By the time i was 16 I was a size UK 8 but because of my F cup breasts i wore size UK 12 tops. 10 years later after my first child i am at 36K and a UK size 14 top (for stretchy materials) and UK size 12 bottoms.
I have been diagnosed with a degenerative lumber spine disease. Which causes sciatica in my legs and waist pain. My spine is not straight which is due to the weight of my breasts. My breast are heavy.
My first consultation was with a very unfriendly plastic surgeon in the NHS. He asked me to loose 30kg before my surgery will be approved. I weigh 83kg. Aside from the sciatica i am other wise healthy. (i know some people consider a 5ft 3inch, size 14, 83kg woman morbidly obese and near death).

I have decided to go private to get my surgery as waiting to get it on the NHS is never going to happen. I cant do any exercises with the excruciating pain of sciatica. They don't make sports bras in my size so cardio is out of the question. I have back pains, shoulder pains. And i don't sleep on my stomach anymore as my "girls" wont allow it. When i wear my bras i have to fold a handkerchief under each breast to absorb the sweat and to reduce the skin on skin friction which give me painful rashes.
I have an appointment with a plastic surgeon next week. I am really praying everything goes well. As i am really fighting depression brought on by the pains, discomforts and insecurities i have because of these breasts.
