Undereye Touch-up with Volbella

UPDATED FROM IRGirl

Lasted 4-5 months!

WORTH IT$450
Happy to report the Volbella lasted longer for me than expected, about four months, and I still had some product left. I was just starting to look more hollow and needed a touch-up. I went in for some more at the end of November.

The Juvederm line of products seem to really work well for me (also have only good things to say about Voluma). My doc actually wants to try Vollure under my eyes next time for even more staying power. He thinks I’ll get 8-10 months with the Vollure without needing a touch-up.

I still wouldn’t say my undereye is the ideal way I would like it to be. I probably could tell the doc I want another syringe but I’m really happy with the improvement I’ve seen since I started getting fillers a year and a half ago. Slowly but surely getting more and more volume and symmetry!

Touch-up that I forgot about ;)

I went in at the end of July for more product. I don’t think I got enough initially and not enough in the area where I have to most hollowness. I think the injector used a little over one syringe of Volbella this past time. He said it should last six months. I think I’ll probably be in, in 2-3 months for a touch up just knowing how quickly I metabolize fillers. I guess it’s already been about three weeks and it looks pretty good, definitely closer to a full correction than the first time with the Volbella. Will update next month!

Does Dr. Zahir use the cannula technique? I am looking into fillers in the eye troughs.
These fillers are expensive if you keep getting them every couple of months. Have you considered fat transfer? I would like to find a doctor who specializes in fat transfer in the dc area.
I don’t know if he uses the cannula technique on request - he didn’t use it with me - but I really wouldn’t worry about it with the Volbella. The needle is tiny, tiny. My bruising and swelling was almost nil.

I have but I’ve heard that fat transfer is a bit unpredictable as far as results, and since I’m still pretty young (29) I’m really hesitant to do things that are more invasive like that. I’d rather stick with the least risky option at this point. I’m hoping these companies will develop a more permanent filler in the next few years that is appropriate for the tear trough area. I also don’t really have a good fat donor area since I’m quite thin all over.
The fat transfer is not that invasive if you do it for a small area and doesn't require a lot of fat. I had it under the eyes a couple of years ago and it looked so good but didn't last. I think the technique matters. Yes I hope too they will soon invent something that lasts longer for eye troughs.
How much was it when you had it done and where did you get it done? I think I was quoted like $2000 for fat transfer one place (half off the regular price of $4000 since I was being quoted for multiple procedures). I didn’t trust that that clinic could do a good job though. Plus I think that quote was more so to do my cheeks rather than just under they eye.
Oh, also, how long did it last?
How much was one syringe of volbella?
It’s $450 but I got it his past time for $390 because I had a $50 credit with their office and a $10 Brilliant Distinctions credit. I think I have a $50 credit (and $10 credit) for next time too and a $100 credit next time I spend over $600. I don’t know if they are going to keep giving me those but it seems like they have a lot of specials.
Good for you. I need to figure out how to use brilliant distictions. I have as n account already. Thanks.
It was $1800. I had other procedures at the same time under general anesthesia. The fat was harvested from a very small area in my tommy. I think it probably lasted about 3 months or so. The doctor was telling me the fat will come back but unfortunately it didn't. I believe his technique was not good. It was Dr. Kofi Boahene in Baltimore.
Oh wow, only 3 months? That’s unfortunate. Wish there were some better options out there. I’ll keep getting the temporary fillers for now. The Voluma in my cheeks hurts my wallet more than anything, but I like the peace of mind of knowing it’s temporary.

One month update

So I’m not sure what to think about the Volbella. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting it to last long but I think I already need more. It’s been a rough month sleep-wise so I’m not sure how much of it is that and how much is the Volbella just not lasting. I also had previously been getting a syringe of Voluma in the upper cheeks to lift the area up and then Restylane in the actual tear trough. I didn’t get Voluma in my cheeks this past time with the Volbella so I might get it next time I get a refill, which, budget permitting, might be relatively soon.
I think I need to emphasize to the injector where I really need it, in that inner tear trough, because that’s where it wears out quickly for me. That’s where I have a natural crease when I smile.
I posted a comparison of where I am now compared to where I was before I started with fillers 14 months ago.
I had:
May 2017: 1 syringe of Restylane in tear trough; 1 syringe of Voluma in upper cheeks
December 2017: .5 syringe of Restylane in tear trough; 1 syringe of Voluma in upper cheeks
May 2018: 1 syringe of Voluma to even out cheek asymmetry
June 2018: 1 syringe of Volbella in tear trough
I definitely think the improvement makes the fillers worth it and I’ll continue to get them, but I definitely wish they lasted longer.

Hi, you got 1 syringe of voluma in may and then another syringe in december. Why so soon? I thought voluma lasts 2 years. Anyway, I have the option of getting restylane or volbella in my tear troughs also, which do you prefer? volbella costs $200 more if I go that route.
I have been building up volume one syringe at a time. I’m not at full correction yet since my face is so thin so I’ll be continuing to get the Voluma every few months for quite a while.

Honestly, neither one last that long for me. I like the injector process better for the Volbella because the needle is smaller and less uncomfortable. The Restylane does last a bit longer but for me, it wasn’t as comfortable under the eye because it’s a thicker product.

Who is your doctor? Your eyes look great.
Thank you! It’s Dr. Zahir at NOVA Plastic Surgery.
What is the full name of the doctor? Thanks
Khalique Zahir. He has other practices around Northern VA. I think he’s only at NOVA Plastic Surgery two days a week.
I checked the practice in Ashburn. Glad it worked for you. Thanks.
Hi there, I know you said the volbella went away quickly for you you wrote you only got 1 syringe of volbella divider to both eyes is that correct? Just asking because each syringe of volbella only has .55cc in it
