I completely lost my edges when l was 15 due to relaxers being left in for too long and burning my scalp. l remember having to wear head scarves to cover my hair.
In my 20s l started researching hair restoration procedures but back in 2000 there wasn’t much options available from Afro hair as doctors stayed away from doing Afro hair (even today some doctors won’t offer restoration on Afro hair)
In my 30s l really couldn’t afford spending thousands of ££££ on myself there was always something more important to spend the money on like house or car repairs.
I was fortunate to stumble upon research and found good reviews and cheaper prices for the op. I had to put my foot down and demanded that fixing my hair was just as important as fixing other stuff that keep popping up. I am 40 at the end of this year and it’s time l fix this problem that has plagued me for over over 20years.
I was to feel confident enough to rock my natural hair, l Romberg being young and having long think natural hair as my mum was and still in against relaxers. She is 75 and she has never relaxed her hair. My hair was 1st relaxed when l was 13 by my older sister. She didn’t know what she was doing and she thought leaving the relaxer on longer was better for my hair even though, l always had burns after each relaxer.
I made the situation worse by wearing weaves & braids in a desperate attempt to cover my bald spots.
I have been natural now for 2years, my hair is healthy & thick. I get so upset that l can wear to out. Having no edges has really damaged my confidence, l have hated being forced to wear wigs & weaves when l love my real hair.
I am hoping my surgeon is able to minimize the shaving off my hair. I would cry if l eventually have to cut it all off & start again BUT really the most important thing is to get some amazing results from my op.
Pray for me on Wednesday, pray that God send some extra hair fairies to work some magic on my edges ??????????
I know how much l have obsessed about reading other people experiences and looks at the pictures of their results, so lam hoping to be good at posting updates.
The 1st 2 pictures are 2years old when l first got in touch with my surgeon, l am really looking forward to finally meeting him????
I will post pictures of my hair just before surgery????

It’s the day before. I feels like l have waited for this day in like forever!
The journey here was easy, got picked up at the airport. The hotel is amazing & the food yummy. Transport from airport to hotel & hotel for 2 nights was included (dinner not included in the price just breakfast)
For far, l have enjoyed my stay, haven’t ventured outside as l arrived at 7pm, had dinner & a shower now going to bed.
Here are pictures of my edges today. I wanted to show how bad it is & how I am currently covering my baldness????
I will update you tomorrow on my day. Good night

I pray for success on this. I understand your pain and I am in the exact same boat. Our hair looks exactly the same, you have a little more hair around your edges. I been trying to cover up a small bald spot since I was a teenager and now at 37 I’m almost bald across the front of my my head from ear to ear and would like the same procedure. Please update us on the progress.

Here is the other side of my bald edges
I hope the hair faries are busy giving my new Year some loving
There is very few Youtubers with similar hair to me and they are (In no particular order).
Adede
Jumoke
Fine Natural Hair and Faith
Youtubers with good information on products and so on but different hair to mine:
Lyda Michael (very educational)
Finally Amber
There are others but these are my current go to.
The honest truth was my hair only started behaving after I accepted it's limitations and loved it for what it is not what l wanted it to be. That was the game changer for me, today I love & adore my hair.
Before the transplant I wore a head wrap to cover the front and every night I did the LOC method and just twisted my hair before bed (It's took about 2 weeks of not missing a day of doing my night routine after the 2 weeks my hair was hydrated and the curls popped) In the morning it took about 10-15 minutes to get my hair looking beautiful.
I promised my self I wouldn't get my edges done till I knew how to care for my hair. I didn't want to get my edges done then get frustrated with me hair and damage it trying to force it to do what it can't do.
Believe me I know all about the hair drama, I have done them all lol. Honestly today I can say I love my hair, It wouldn't bother me if I never wore a wig, weaves or braids again.
I am at a happy place with my natural hair and enjoying learning more about how to care for it and loving seeing it thriving. I stop myself watching Youtubers how are my hair crash because when I watch them, I sudden feel like my hair is not perfect and before I know it I suddenly feel crappy about my hair again.
I will keep you posted and good luck on this journey, it's long but can also be rewarding if you remember to work with what you have :-)
