I'm Going In... Tunis, Tunisia

ORIGINAL POST

I'm not expecting a miracle -- just some...

I'm not expecting a miracle -- just some improvement... Well, a bit more than that, I hope! 7am reporting at the clinic. Wondering if I'll get any sleep tonight.

I don't know this PS at all, but his practice is close to my house, and I thought it would save me the hassle of commuting for follow up visits.

The PS will perform a classic Lipo of the lower abdomen, inner thighs, and flanks. He doesn't want to remove too much, he said. I've been taking iron supplements and antibiotics for 4 days, on his orders. In addition, and on my own, I've added Arnica 30ch and Arnica cream, plus Gingko Biloba (which is great for sluggish veins, and safe).

Medical care in Tunisia, in my experience, is very good. And I haven't come across any negative reviews on Dr. Chronic on the net. So here goes, will keep you all posted.

How did it go????

I think it went ok, but hell in the beginning. I even had remorse afterwards, and wondered why I had done this, after all, I'm not overweight. Just menopausal and concatenated by seeing my body change! But now that I'm feeling better, the negativity is decreasing, and I hope to experience the same satisfaction as all of you here!

Totally normal to feel some regret post-op from any cosmetic procedure, in my opinion.  I felt like an idiot after having eyelid surgery, and felt like I'd given up and let something really trivial about my appearance drive me to spend a ton of money and risk my life.  I felt shallow.  Now a year later I'm so glad I did it.  There is an emotional roller coaster ride after a cosmetic surgery that no one ever talks about (except on RealSelf!).

Yep, that happens. It could be the meds or just how our body and mind responses. Hang in there, it just takes some of us a little longer.

Yes, I also felt silly to be bothered by "problem areas" which no one else even noticed. But it came down to what I perceived as the choice between face or body: I could stay as I was with a great relaxed face and taut breasts (the result of an extra 10kg), but slightly heavier frame overall and not looking as nice in clothes... OR: I could keep the face and breasts by surgically removing the excesses by Lipo. Pretty naive, I must admit in hindsight, but it sounded sensible back then. I am very encouraged by your feedback, though, and reading that it will get better! How long did it take you to be free of bruises, pain and CG? When could you get back to your fitness routine?

Yes, everyone's different, but I was terribly naive to believe that the recovery was short... how long did it take you to feel comfortable in your body again?

Hi, u r several days out from surgery. How is it going?
May 20, 2014
Dr says it went well, removed 3kg (ugh!), but I was completely exhausted, dizzy, and frequently nauseous for the entire week. I"m taking the iron, and blood thinner still, but today am finally starting to see the light! The for asking about me!

7 days after the lipo

Nesim
Went under the knife exactly a week ago, and had tummy, inner thigh, and love handles done. I have to say that I'm incredulous reading that a woman was back at the gym 4 days after undergoing surgery, or that another was back at work 2 days later. Either they had a very limited area removed, or it wasn't"t liposuction.

What I had is undoubtedly the most painful operation ever. It's not like « a killer workout » as someone describes it. There are extensive areas of bruising, and the skin is ultra sensitive where it isn't numb. This is a serious operation, requiring the necessary post-operation recovery time.

For myself, I can say that today is the first since the surgery that I feel an improvement from the aches, and where I have better mobility. I've been very diligent regarding the daily lymphatic drainage sessions, and they have been a great relief in removing what felt like trapped bubbles or fluid.

Looking forward to progress in the coming days.

Slightly better day 9

Nesim
Yesterday was the worst so far. Even this morning, after a sleepless night, was not great. I went for my daily lymphatic drainage session feeling quite depressed, but the massage must have helped eliminate some of the retained fluids. My legs no longer feel like lead! And the CG is actually tolerable!

I hope to experience improvement in the coming days, at least to get some sleep... Thanks all for this support forum and for your contributions, been a great help!
