WORTH IT
I love Dr. Amaka. I have had a wonderful experience putting my care in her hands. I am currently 5 weeks post op and although not ready for before and after photos, I am so completely blown away with my results. I honestly didn’t think I would look this good after my tummy tuck procedure. Dr. Amaka recommended I get more of a body lift due to my excessive loose skin around my entire torso. This procedure was not something I was originally looking to have done however, once she explained the benefits of having the more extensive procedure done I agreed that would be best for me. I have had a wonderful experience in her office and I feel she gave me the best recommendations and advice on the procedures I wanted to have done. I was a little nervous that my case would be a bit too much for her to take on. Dr Amaka assured me she could handle it. She did not disappoint. I cannot wait to completely heal to take those “after” photos. I want the world to know the miracle she performed on my body.

Great to hear. I am consulting with her in March and am excited. Please post before and after. Would love to see your results and cheer you on. If you don't mind my asking what was the cost of your procedure? You pain afterwards? How are you now? What made you choose her? I wanted someone locally and learned of her through a Dr. I follow out of Atlanta.

Sorry to take so long, I haven’t logged into site since I posted my review. I “accidentally” got Dr Amaka. I was actually referred to her predecessor who originally owned the practice she now works at. That doctor has since retired. So the receptionist set me up with her essentially. I was a bit nervous going with her because she was relatively fresh out of school if u count 16 years of medical school “fresh”, but let me tell you she practices the latest in techniques some of which I had never heard of. I traveled 3 hours and 3 states to see her, and I am not disappointed at all!! In fact what made me log into realself tonight was that I was looking at the gallery of photos of a practice that is popular in my area for plastic surgery. I was horrified at their work compared to what I had seen of Dr Amaka’s and her partner Dr. Unger. I felt the need to update my review. At the time of my first review I did not have any of the office’s professional before and after photos in my possession but I do now. As far as cost, it’s hard to break it down for you because I had a lot done. Their office will break everything down for you. I will warn you that it was a higher quote than what I received elsewhere but after comparing other practices before and after photos, it was COMPLETELY WORTH IT!!! You get what u pay for. This is the body u will have the rest of your life. Most people wouldn’t bat an eye at spending that much on a car that they’ll only keep 4-5 years. Why would u cut corners on the body that will carry u to the grave. I would call my case a bit on the extreme side, I worried she wouldn’t be able to handle it because what I had seen of her portfolio, no ones body looked as bad as mine. She assured me she could do it and she DELIVERED. And now, what you have been waiting for...... the photos.

I forgot to answer your other questions. Pain: she does a lot to keep you comfortable. I have a high pain tolerance. I went in expecting to feel like I had been in a bad car accident or had been beaten with a baseball bat, that was pretty accurate. So it was no worse than I expected. Get a basic walker to help u get around for the first week, it helps a lot. Expect to be short of breath for the first week at least. She will inject your abdominal muscles with a long term pain reliever and it helps for like the first 3-4 days. I’m sure without that it would have been much worse. The pain from the liposuction kind of surprised me at how long that lasted, about 5 months but to be fair I contracted Covid 3 months post op and that I believe set my recovery back a bit. I felt more inflamed while having Covid than I did in the weeks prior. The lingering pain from lipo just felt like my back was bruised, tolerable, nothing I even needed to take Tylenol for, just annoying. I am a hairdresser and I returned to work in 3 weeks. I wasn’t running a full schedule and I took a mid day break to go lay down and rest for a couple of hours for the first 2 weeks back to work. That all worked out just fine. Today I am up to full activity level. I’ve just started being able to wear blue jeans again in the last month but they are very loose. I have one pair that is a tighter fit and they still bother me to wear the entire day and cause my abdomen to swell if I do wear them for a long time, so I just don’t. The tightness of the waistband hurts. I didn’t really expect that. I wore loose fitting dresses for about the first 2 months they gradually went into stretchy pants. (They look good on me now too). So it has taken me a while to get back into wearing loose jeans. I don’t have any pain now except for the occasional twinge from scar tissue being formed. I had never had any surgery this extensive before so I was a little surprised by how much of my abdomen is numb. That’s weird but after a while u don’t even think about it anymore until u suddenly realize u have regained some feeling in areas u didn’t before. But for the most part, I can’t feel much between my belly button and my pubic bone. I can tell u getting that waist snatched up is the most amazing feeling ever. I have been a yo-yo dieter nearly all of my life and even at my lowest weight I was never firm like this. So when u feel that tightness in ur abdomen and it’s uncomfortable or u can’t take a deep breath just remember how much tighter those abdominal muscles are. Now that mine aren’t that tight anymore I kinda miss that soreness. The entire process physically and mentally is “a lot” but it is sooooooo worth it all!!!

This post was very helpful, Thank you. I have a consult with her in Oct.

Thank you so much for updating and responding. I appreciate all your information and transparency. I had my consult with her. I truly enjoyed meeting her and her staff. However, I was very disappointed and depressed when I left. I realized I was wanting a full body makeover. The price was out of my range at that time and I was not totally satisfied with what she was telling me about my results. However, what it did do was light a fire under me to loose more weight. I love the fact that she uses all the lastest techniques. That the procedure is drainless. That she uses the exparel. I am still digesting the cost. I agree with you about getting what we pay for. I realized I could get some thing done thru my insurance such as a breast reduction and that would take off some of the cost. I love the fact that she is local to me. So she is still my number 1 choice. I just want to get on the road to healthier and possibly be able to get my work done by the end of summer. By the way, you look great. I will keep following you here. I would love to stay connected. Our body types look the same. So I can identify when you say the magnitude of work you wanted to have done. Thanks for the suggestions. I also agree that if you had Covid, that definitely may be some of the reason for extensive pain. Looking forward to seeing you progress. Looks amazing already.

May I ask your age and what procedures you had done? Thanks in advance...I'm looking for a Nashvlle Dr. to do TT, BLw/A, flank liposuction and fat transfer to breasts and butt. That's a lot, too! But I think if I'm going to have something done I might as well go all the way!
August 12, 2021
I actually had circumferential body lift with rectus muscle repair which is a full TT with excess skin removal all the way to the top of buttocks , lipo 360 so that is abdomen, flanks and back, and a breast lift with implants. I plan to get my bra roll removed later this year. You only have one body, so if you are gonna do it, get it all done and done right. I think Dr. Amaka is the best choice. She does a drainless TT and the way she follows the natural curves of a woman’s body, my incision is barely even visible. After seeing other plastic surgeons’ before and after photos showing the incisions, I have no doubt Dr. Amaka is one of the best in her field. She made the decision to not do my bra roll with the rest of the procedures judging that what I was having done would be already a lot and that needed to wait. During and after recovery I agreed 100% she was right. That would have been just too much. I am 46 and a hairdresser. I only took 3 weeks off of work. I did start back with a lighter schedule than normal but only cut that back for an additional 2 weeks. I didn’t have any fat transfers as my booty was and is still plenty. I didn’t have much breast tissue to even work with so fat transfers for my specific body wouldn’t have been an option I had to get implants. This was my biggest struggle. I didn’t know what I wanted. I hadn’t ever been large breasted even at my heaviest weight, so I didn’t really want them large, but I didn’t want to be disappointed either. We spent a lot of time talking about that and in the end I just told her give me whatever size u think that would look appropriate for the new bottom half I would have. She completely NAILED IT!! I even asked that my breast still have some natural jiggle to them and she made that happen as well. For those who I have shown them to, as well as myself, we all agree these are the most natural looking and feeling fake breasts ever.

Now I did pay more for my procedures than I had been quoted at other consultations but you truly do get what u pay for. Several months ago I looked at one of those other doctors portfolios of before and after photos and I realized that Dr. Amaka has done a work of art on me. She also turned me into a tummy tuck snob. I was judging all kinds of flaws in their work after experiencing what she had done for me. It really was worth the extra to have the latest techniques and skill level that she possesses. Keep me posted would love to know what u decide to do.

I can’t believe this is my life. My results from my body lift Abdominoplasty, breast lift with implants are beyond my wildest dreams. It was worth it all, the pain, the money, the inconvenience, completely. worth. It.all!!! I won’t lie, the financial quote I received from this office was more than any other quote I had received but she also recommended more procedures than any other plastic surgeon had to get the best results. When thinking about having this body the rest of my life and what you have to endure for this surgery, the extra cost was entirely worth it to get the quality of work that Dr. Amaka provides. You get what you pay for!!! Dr. Amaka’s skill level is amazing!! What is even more impressive is her post op care. Paying attention to every detail while in the operating room continues to spill out into her office post op too. I have healed wonderfully, the scars continue to fade, the front nearly invisible already. I will go back to see her next week for my official 6 month post op visit, I’m sure new photos will be taken. When I receive their photos I will post those as well. I cannot say enough about how satisfied I am with everything I have experienced having Dr. Amaka as my surgeon. Stop thinking about this and just call for a consultation. Don’t waste any more of your life unhappy in your own skin. This has changed my life. At 46 years old, I am comfortable in my own skin for the first time in my entire life.
