On March 16, 2017 I received a tummy tuck and liposuction to the surrounding area from Dr. Sameer Karkhanis. I contacted him and his office director, Sharada, the later part of last year. They both speak very good English and explained the procedure, cost breakdown and hospital stay in very clear and unambiguous terms. In addition, they maintained an ongoing and consistent dialogue.

I selected Dr. Sameer because of his patient's 5 star ratings. When I arrived at the airport in Mumbai, a driver held up a placard identifying my name. He drove me directly to the hospital where I met the staff, Sharada and Dr. Sameer. Once at the hospital, staff ordered me lunch and I went to Jupiter Hospital for a through screening evaluation for preop details. It's a very comprehensive process. Later in the evening, I met with a man who took measurements for the post op compression garment. Soon after I met with Dr. Sameer about the following morning's surgery. I liked him right away and found him very knowledgeable about the procedure, open to a litany of questions, and very down to earth. I wish all my physicians at home were as warm and engaging. Before going to sleep that night I met the anesthesiologist.

Early the next morning, after I showered, I went into surgery. After coming out, the Doctor said that it went very well. I felt relieved that it was over. The nurses were professional and kind. They got up in the middle of the night to give me MedS, ice chips, loosen the ungodly tight compression garment, and bring me water. One even helped me with my Hindi. I loved this group of people so much. Each day Dr. Sameer came to visit me twice a day. This is unheard of back home where the doctor might come to visit once a week. Dr. Sameer is such a humble and fun Doctor. I would recommend him to family and friends. The work that he completed looks amazing.

Now I'm one week post op surgery and would love to not have to wear the compression garment. I understand that I will have to wear it for a couple of more weeks. Maybe Dr. Sameer can offer alternative options that don't include hooks and zippers that embed themselves into my living flesh. I had plans to explore Mumbai and the surrounding areas but am experiencing an ebb in energy. So in the meanwhile, I'm taking it slowly until I can regain my energy.

My tummy tuck and liposuction to the surrounding area feels surprisingly painless. It felt like a relief today having the dressing removed and taking a shower. It's so great to see a flat abdominal area. Despite the black and blue bruises on the obliques, Dr. Sameer's technique looks great! He will give me scar gel to start using once the abrasions are completely healed. Im still using the compression garment which I have to wear for another month. I'll be glad when I can ditch it because it's restrictive and majorly uncomfortable!
