Dr. Amalfi is a phenomenal doctor, both for her technical skill and emotional intelligence.
I had a fleur-de-lis tummy tuck (vertical and horizontal incision) after losing approximately 150 pounds. I am in my early thirties, have no children, and did not need an ab plication.
My experience with Dr. Amalfi has been very collaborative. She is happy to work with patients to achieve their goals while maintaining safety and practicality as top priorities. I appreciate that Dr. Amalfi is very thoughtful about balancing aesthetics with long-term healing and functionality, rather than overpromising perfection or recommending unnecessary procedures. I tend to have a lot of questions and like explanations for why decisions are made. Dr. Amalfi is happy to explain things in a way that is easy to understand.
Reconstruction after major weight loss is not as straightforward as a standard tummy tuck, but Dr. Amalfi gave me incredible results. It is one of the best FDL tummy tucks I have ever seen. Part of why I picked her as my surgeon is that she is an artist. She has a wonderful artistic eye for sculpting the body. The tension at my incisions was handled well, and my scars are healing thin and flat. My belly button was constructed in an aesthetic way that does not automatically read “tummy tuck belly button.” I reviewed my operative notes, and to my knowledge, she used modern best-practice techniques.
My pain was managed very well through intraoperative medication and an as-needed pain medication prescription. Overall, my recovery was a breeze, and I had no major issues. The aftercare has been excellent, too. The office has standard scheduled follow-up appointments and will happily make additional appointments as needed to ensure a smooth and safe recovery.
What impresses me most is Dr. Amalfi’s bedside manner. There are many ups and downs throughout the process, and she has always been willing to listen to my concerns, support me, and give me practical answers. She is very kind. Moreover, I truly trust Dr. Amalfi. I’ve never felt upsold on anything, and she tailored all her recommendations to my body. I can tell she wants her patients to be happy and that she takes pride in her work. Having a medical provider you trust is extremely important. She is an excellent surgeon who provides nuanced, thoughtful care. I would be incredibly lucky to work with her again, and I highly recommend her.
