Almost feeling like my pre surgery self. I do have occasional discomfort if I twist or move a certain direction. Dr. Rumalla had me go to a different binder (Paz Wean). It’s less bulky than the first but more restrictive (less elastic). It’s essentially a corset with Velcro and I find my ribs hurting at times. He also has me using BioCorneum scar cream. The doctor said I’m still retaining probably 2 liters of fluid as my body is still in recovery mode. I was glad to hear this as I still feel “bigger” than pre-surgery. He said it could take up to 3 months.

I got my stitches out today!! I still feel swollen and bloated but, Dr Rumalla said it could be 3 months before this goes down. I tried to wear some pre-surgery jeans but, just didn’t feel I could comfortably do it with the incision still being sensitive, especially on the hips where my incision ends. I’m concerned about a few areas on my hips but, have decided I’m going to wait until that 3 month mark to assess and decide if it’s worth doing anything further. I’m excited I can start light cardio now as I get so tired with the smallest activity. I’m ready to get back to my pre-surgery active self. People have asked if I’m happy with the results. I am but, the sad part for most of us who have been over-weight is that your self image often doesn’t change. The extra bulk of the binder under clothes doesn’t help but, I am confident that once the swelling goes down and I’m rid of the binder, I’ll get a little more proud of my new flat tummy.

My drains are still in so no shower yet but, I have sponged and even shaved my legs (with a little help). We put a chair by the bathtub and I dangled my legs in the tub. I found washing my hair in the sink to be the easiest since the sink is higher. I've been able to skip some of my pain meds but, then got a little to confident and over did it. This seems to increase my drain output. My back hurts more than anything due to walking bent over.
