So Thankful

I had pretty severe complications (necrotizing fasciitis) after having my daughter 9 years ago. Two blood transfusions and 7 surgeries later, I was left with a T-shaped scar from my belly button down. After I lost the some of the baby weight, I was left with approximately 3 inches of hanging skin.

Dr. Polynice was amazing from the get-go. He appeared to genuinely care about his patients as many of the females working at the William’s Center have had undergone surgeries by his hand. They all had nothing but wonderful things to say… to include all of the reviews I read online. The level of comfortability was second to none. I am extremely thankful for Dr. polynice as well as his staff.

There is one portion of the care I do not believe I was adequately prepared for. Removal of the drains was honestly excruciating. I wish there had been some pain medicine administered prior to having this done as well as a better indication of the level of pain I would experience during this. I know the nurses did their best to make the process as quick as possible, however, I would sincerely advise someone looking into getting this procedure to better prepare themselves for this and do some research on methods to minimize or subdue the pain. I will say that while it was painful, it only lasted for a few seconds.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my results. It was worth every single penny spent as I now (finally) feel comfortable in my own skin!

I had the exact same experience with the removal of my drain tubes and I agree, nothing prepared me for that kind of pain! My best friend had the exact same procedure and she had no pain when her tubes were removed. One of the nurses told me that there are tubes with a “lip” around them and some without. My doctor uses the one with the plastic lip so when the tubes come out it’s that plastic you’re feeling under the skin as it’s being pulled out. I am 100% in agreement that doctors should use pain relief of some kind if the tubes have a lip on them. That pain was as bad or worse than the actual surgery!! I am glad to hear you are doing well and happy with your results. You look awesome!!
