No regrets!

WORTH IT
On March 18 I had a full TT, muscle repair and lipo to flanks. He even removed my awful faded tattoo! I'm 9 weeks post op now, and even though I know these aren't my final results I am so impressed with what I'm seeing so far and have no regrets. I'm so glad I did it! It was definitely worth all the pain and money. I had a few minor set backs where the stitches tried to push through my incision in some spots. Not a big deal, my surgeon removed the stitches he could see coming out and I used medihoney on the wounds and kept them covered and they've healed rather quickly. I was given the green light to stop wearing my compression after week 4, although I still sometimes wear it for comfort.
Also, can we talk about how awesome my belly button looks. I'm seriously obsessed with it. I had an appt with my surgeon this week and he said it's still a little swollen inside and will still go down a little :)
*you'll notice in the photos my left leg is a little messed up. My surgeon also worked on that during this same surgery. I was in a car accident a long time ago that left me with some ugly scar tissue there that he's trying to fix. So far he's done a great job there too.

Wow you look amazing congrats!!!! Love how low your incision is.

Me too! Honestly he said he was going a little lower with the incision than he usually does because of the leg reconstruction he was doing at the same time. It was going to help pull the skin on my leg up at the same time. So it just happened to work out that way. So I was fine with that haha

You look fabulous, can I ask why you decided to have a full tummy tuck vs lipo? You look rather small to me in the before pics. Just curious. We have a similar before figure, but I am opting for liopsuction vs a tummy tuck. I am trying to determine if that is the right decision. Thanks.

Liposuction would've still left me with extra skin. Most of the "belly" I had before was just the extra skin. We even talked about doing a mini tummy tuck, but decided against that also because my stomach just wouldn't be as flat as I wanted in the end. I didn't wanna spend any amount of money on a surgery that I wasn't sure would turn out exactly how I wanted - like lipo or a mini TT. I recommend a tummy tuck to everyone - best decision I could've made!

Also, it's worth noting that I've had 3 c sections - so I desperately needed that muscle repair as well!

Great! Thanks for your response. I'm leaning to the tt more and more. I have only had one child via c-section 13 years ago. I have that annoying pouch that seems firm. But I'd hate to get lipo and then be left with excess skin to have to address later.

My pouch above my c section scar also felt pretty firm, but I knew if I just did lipo to the area-that skin would be saggy. And a mini TT only addresses everything blow the belly button - and I knew I definitely needed help above it. I just knew I wouldn't be completely satisfied with the results if I had done lipo or even a mini. And if I'm committing to major surgery, I'd like to only do it once haha :)

Omg I totally agree about doing it once! Thanks for your replies, very helpful.

You look great! I love that you said you were back in jeans from high school. I do have a pair that I kept from my younger years and said one day I would try them on again. :)

Yes girl!! The feeling you get when you slide those babies back on is worth every single penny of that surgery, I promise!

12 weeks

A little over the 12 week mark. Still dealing with intermittent swelling, especially on my flanks. Although a couple times I have noticed on hot days if I’m outside doing yard work or something all day - by night time I’m so swollen I seriously look pregnant, it’s so uncomfortable. I’m a third shift nurse, being on my feet all night long I i expected the swelling to last a while. It’s still discouraging sometimes. So I do throw on old faithful (compression garment) from time to to time to make me feel better and combat some of that swelling. The incision is doing well, no issues. Still putting vitamin E on it daily. And the ends of my incisions haven’t fully smoothed out yet, but they’re getting there.
I’m an avid tanner - so I lather a lot of sunblock across it when I tan to shield it from that.
I have another follow up appt with my surgeon on the 22nd, but that’s more for my leg, not so much for the tummy tuck recovery. I could NOT be happier with how my stomach looks. Especially for only being 12 weeks post op.

Few More Pictures

Just thought I would add a couple more recovery photos I’ve taken. I’m now 3 months post op and I still wake up every morning and look and my stomach and think “this can’t be really be me.” I wonder when that feeling will go away haha
My stomach is still completely numb from my belly button down to the incision. Such a weird feeling, I can’t wait until I regain feeling there. My stomach is still super tight as well. I have my 3 month post op appt with my surgeon Monday morning.
