After having twins, gaining weight and losing weight over and over, my tummy was destroyed! I have a lot of extra skin and cannot see my belly button or vagina. When I do cardio, my tummy flaps and it is very embarrassing. Yesterday, I met with Dr. Lynam and immediately decided that he was the right surgeon for me. I have researched a lot of doctors in the area. I like his before and after photos and he has experience with plus size ladies. I am approximately 5'6 200lbs. I look forward to sharing this new journey with you all and watching you on yours as well.

Pre-op appt

Had my pre-op appointment today! I am excited and nervous. Dr. Lynam and his staff were very helpful. They answered all my questions, and I had a list! There’s very little preparation that I need to do before surgery and a small shopping list of items for post op items. We have already scheduled my first post op appointment! Next Friday will be here in no time and I am anxious and nervous about the post op pain. I just know that the final results will be worth it!!

How exciting! It’s so close now. I will be 14 weeks PO Monday. Prayers for a speedy recovery.

I honestly didn’t think it was painful. It was just uncomfortable and having to sleep in a recliner wasnt fun, I’m a side sleeper. The worst part for me was day 5 when the constipation started. I stayed on pain pills for the 1st 2 days As directed every 4 hours and just to sleep day 3 and didn’t take them anymore after that. My drains were removed on day 6. I think it’s all in how your pain tolerance is. The other thing stay away from spicy foods they will make you cough and coughing hurts. Make sure you have cough drops. You had twins you will rock this recovery!
I had a full tummy tuck with muscle repair, lipo on my flanks and my implants replaced because they were 13 yrs old, but no breast lift.

Thanks for the tips. If you think of anything else, please fill me in! I don't know anyone who had this and I'm just doing my own research. I'm hoping that my c-section with twins will prepare me for some of the pain/discomfort lol I checked out your review and you look amazing!! Thanks for sharing

I'm a twin mom too. 7 pounds each, I totally understand the need for a TT. I'm now 4 weeks post and it has been a breeze. I recommend sleeping in a recliner with pillows under your knees. If you don't have an electric recliner, look into renting one. Sooo worth it. Take the muscle relaxers so you can sleep, the pain pills after day 3 are not necessary. I agree with the post above, get some cough drops. Whenever I take a deep breath, it throws me into a coughing fit and cough drops are the only thing that help. I took a full 14 days off from work and it was definitely needed. I also ate just soups and eggs after the surgery and it helped because you'll feel really bloated. The bloating felt like 3rd trimester with twins. Lol!

Thanks so much for the tips! I have a recliner sofa that is not automatic. I told the PS secretary that I was thinking about renting an automatic recliner and she said since I have a recliner sofa an automatic one was a waste of money. I feel like I'm going to have to depend on people to keep putting the bottom part down for me so I ab get up. What is your thought on that?
January 12, 2020
For the 1st few days in order for me to get up my husband did have to put the recliner down, wrap his arms around my back to help set me up. You can not use your abs at all. You will need help. After the first 3 days he went back to work and I used an ottoman that was on wheels to scoot to my couch and push back w my legs to get up and down I didn’t use the recliner when he wasn’t home because I couldn’t get up. I found having strong legs helped because I used my legs to lift my body weight up and avoided using my arms and abs. I was going to use a walker like some suggested to help with walking but my Dr said I couldn’t bc I also had my breasts done and you cant put strain on your chest and all your body weight like you would leaning on a walker. Since you’ve had a c-section I’ve heard the pain from that is worse bc they cut through your whole abdominal wall whereas a TT is only top layers and not to your organs. My daughter was a natural birth so I can’t compare the 2 but hope this helps

Hi. I could had to have my husband raise and lower the manual recliner because it was too hard for me to do without feeling like I would hurt myself. Also I slept in a auto recliner for almost a month after my surgery. With it being auto I didn't have to wake anyone up when I had to get up and pee in the middle of the night. I highly recommend an auto one.

I would get the electric one. You literally have no way to lift yourself up and down. Even trying to sit up to pull the handle would be near impossible.
January 12, 2020
That's what I'm afraid of. I don't want to wake everyone up if it can be prevented (Miss Independent having to depend on people is hard enough). Thanks for your advice :)

I was able to purchase an electronic movie theater chair from Sam's for $299 - they may have gone back up to $399, but I was ready to purchase it at that price too. Costco has a few fully electric ones now as well (they didn't three weeks ago when I was looking). Theirs are well priced. I plan on selling mine after I'm done with it (my surgery is in February) to recoup some of my $$. I even considered the ones that lift you all the way to standing - I will probably wish that I would have gone that route, but too late now!
Can you share some of your questions you had? I'm terrible at knowing what to ask. I'm looking forward to following your journey! Best wishes for a speedy recovery! Keep us posted!n

I know you're excited! I felt like I had so much time when I scheduled it but it came super fast! I wish you all the best on yours and plan on keeping you all posted. I am thinking about going to rent a center and renting a auto recliner for a month. I plan on talking to them tomorrow and hopefully they can deliver it by Thursday. I don't remember all my questions but I know I asked how they closed the incision, how many post op visits will I have, what do I do in an emergency after hours, are emergencies/problems included, I have a heart condition and wondered if he performed surgery on someone like me... I wrote all my questions down and asked them. He answered some without me asking.

thanks so much! I'm just under a month out 7 stressing about the weight I haven't lost. I have been dieting, but I'm stuck for 2 weeks now. Hoping it drops big soon. Looks like you got your chair. Did you rent it?
January 15, 2020
I wanted to lose 10-15lbs a month ago and haven't lost anything! As a matter of fact, it's that time of the month so I'm bloated and gained a few lbs. I am confident that I will lose more after surgery. I would love to lose 20lbs but I've been at this weight for so long that I wouldn't be disappointed as long as I get rid of this double tummy. Yes, I rented the recliner for a month. Hopefully, it will be delivered tomorrow!

My last double tummy Monday!
myjourney247January 13, 2020
I cant believe this is my last week with this double tummy!! I’m so anxious and excited! I have afib and anxiety and trying to remain calm, cool and collective. Today, I went out and rented an automatic recliner chair for a month. It was $114 for a month rental and that is the shortest time they will do a rental. It has storage in both arm rests and a USB port on the side to charge my phone! Thanks to all the ladies who recommended an automatic recliner!! I attached some more before pics. You can see how well I hide this ugly double tummy in my clothes and my new temporary recliner!
