Misdiagnosed Necrosis
I presented early stage necrosis post op day one. He and his team assure me it wasn't and its a tension burn from sensitive skin. They also waited 4 days to give me meds. I had to follow up a couple of times to ask for medications for it. I rcvd 8 hyberic treatments in the mean time. While the area seemed to be getting a little better, I still was sure it was neurotic and begged to have it assesed further. I even offered to extend my stay so he can treat it and cut it out because necrosis is not reversable. Most cases, a debridement procedure is necessary for proper healing and to avoid infection. This is a serious and potentially life threatening condition and I personally wasnt taking it lightly. But they were and even though my skin was clearly dying, they still denied it was necrosis. My 1st op showed dead black areas. My last post op (day of departure) showed dead black areas. But yet he sent me home, saying it looked better and no necrosis. Now im 16 days post op, had a 2nd opinion yesterday here in the states. I was immature diagnosed with necrosis and growing infection. Im scheduled for surgery today at 12:30 to have it cut out. The surgeon says its so bad he'll probably need to do 2 procedures a minimum. Maybe 3. Use a wound vac and then will need a skin regraph. My estimated hospital stay is 2 to 3 weeks. Im glad to be getting this resolved by a competent doctor now. This could have cost me my life. To add, I will more or less lose my belly button and have a nasty scar in my mid section. Dr. Manon still insists that I didnt present necrosis while under his care. But the photos speak for themselves. Im not nedical expert, but knew from day one what it was and how it would turn out if he did not medically and agressivly intervene right away. He chose not to. So now here I am, sitting against the outcome which I knew would inevitably happen. Complications happen. We acceot the risk. But being misdignosed and receiving poor aftercare was negligent. Proper treatment was some he could have controlled. All he has offered me is scar revision for free. Needless to say, I will not be accepting that offer as I no longer trust him. Please be cautious when it comes aftercare and complications. Be your own advocate and do diligence on research if you are experiencing complications.
