AVOID!

UPDATE:
I was initially thrilled with my results and care of Dr. Markarian and his staff. However, after requesting a 3 month follow up (one was not automatically scheduled) with him in Oct 2020, and the need for a revision was discussed, due to hip deformities he left me with during surgery, everything changed. In my original pictures I was still swollen so the severity of the problem wasn’t as clear (although you can kind of see it starting). He took too much lipo out of my flanks, leaving me these huge indents where my hips should go outward...

Initially, I was told he would take care of it. He acknowledged it was his error, and I would have to pay $3,500 for the revision. Not thrilled because I already paid almost $15k... but okay.

I was told at this 3 month follow up they were going to check my insurance, and submit a pre-approval request, to see if a revision would be covered, and they would get back to me within 1-2 days. A week later, I reached out and was told they were waiting on the insurance companies response. 3 weeks later I reached out again and received the same answer. I called my insurance company and was told they hadn't received anything from the doctor. I again called Dr. Markarian's office and was told they were waiting on insurance...so I wait. 6 weeks later, I called my insurance company again and still, they hadn't received anything from the doctor. At this point, I did a three-way call with Dr. Markarian's staff, and while we were on the phone my insurance agent asked for any information that would them locate this request they "submitted" and the rep from his office said she "didn't have my file" and couldn't get any of that. Just admit you didn't submit it! Then they closed down in December due to COVID restrictions in the state.

When they opened back up in March of 2021 for surgeries, I reached back out asking to get a date for surgery. Not demanding I be the first one seen, but asking for a date. "It'll be a slow rollout, we'll let you know in a month." Fast forward another 6 weeks, I send a follow-up email to his staff asking for an update to see if I can get a date. This time I get no response at all (it's been weeks since my last email).

I am not calling multiple times a day, I am contacting them every 3-6 weeks...and now am no longer getting a response?!? In a last-ditch attempt, I text Dr. Markarian directly, and send him pictures of the very noticeable hip deformities I have to remind him, (anyone with eyes is going to notice), explaining I'm just looking for a surgery date, even if it’s a few months out. No response to my text either!!!

I've been very understanding with his office, especially due to covid, but I'm done. At this point, I am not going to be going back to Dr. Markarian, even if they do reach out at this point, and I don't recommend this office to anyone! I am currently having consults with other board-certified plastic surgeons to fix this. The pictures honestly don’t do it justice.

Requested Photos

Just adding some photos as requested. This is me before and 1 mpo. Love my new belly button! Scar is healing well and even swollen feeling pretty fantastic. Can’t wait to see the final result in 6 months-1 year.

Amazing!

Dr. Markarian is truly in his own class of surgeons. I’m currently 16 days post op with a full tt with lipo and I cannot rave enough about the experience I’ve had. I did a TON of research before selecting my surgeon. I started with the Board Certification website for Plastic Surgeons and filtered by my location. Then I researched into any past or pending complaints for the surgeons. Once I had a good list of local surgeons from that, I just simply googled them to see what actual people were saying about their experiences. I also went into RealSelf to see what patients were saying on there. At this point Dr. Markarian had a pretty hefty lead against the other surgeons on my list but I wasn’t yet 100% decided because obviously I had to see what his results actually looked like. I went to his website as well as his Instagram and looked for bodies that looked like mine (after losing 90lbs I had a pannus aka apron belly overhang) and I wanted to make sure he could handle what I had going on. The results were aesthetically phenomenal (look for yourself!).I had my consultation with him and was 1000% sure he was the right surgeon. I only get one body and it’s important to me that I did the research and chose the best surgeon in regards to safety and aesthetics possible and I know I did. He literally handles every aspect of your surgery, down to every single stitch. This isn’t as common as you’d think! The day of survey I went in with nothing but confidence in his ability. He took amazing care of me and took the time needed to give me the contoured beautiful stomach I was looking for—and my belly button is AMAZING. Those of you researching surgeons for tummy tucks know how rare and important that is. I am still in the thick of my recovery but I would undoubtedly recommend Dr Markarian to anyone and everyone. He will balance your expectations with reality and do everything in his power to give you the best end result your body is capable of. I am in a Facebook group with women around the world who are getting tummy tucks, and I can honestly say without hesitation that my post surgery body, even swollen, is better than 95% of those I see in the group. If you’ve gotten this far... do it! Book your consultation. Book your surgery. I promise you won’t regret it.
