How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.

I Love my Results

It took three years to decide, and I'm happy I had the surgery. I'm also glad I chose Dr. Young. She explained the process thoroughly. She is very patient and very kind. I never felt rushed, not before or after my procedure. She answers all my questions. I went to see one other Dr. for a consultation.
As a black woman, I was very concerned with scaring, but Dr. Young did an excellent job on my incision. My surgery was long but uncomplicated. I woke up smiling and happy. Dr. Young has a beautiful bedside manner.
My pros are I love my flat tummy and how my clothes fit me. I can't wait to wear a two-piece bikini again. My cons are I probably started doing too much too soon, which is why there are some raised areas on my incision. I caught an infection, and the medical-grade silicone strips came off too soon, which, I believe, is why areas on my incision are not as flat as I want. I am using store-bought silicone strips, which I hope will continue to flatten those raised areas. Lastly, I'm not sure I had the best compression garments for my procedure. I was given a binder but had to ask for a compression top for the lypo I had in my upper abdomen and near my bra line.
As wonderful as I feel, there are some points everyone should know where I think our doctors don't provide enough detail. 1) There is a difference between the upper and lower abdomen. Drs charge for both, but when talking about a TT, they only refer to the lower abdomen. You should be clear about this if you want that super flat look. 2) The time to heal is longer than six weeks. If you can, get help. Don't let guilt make you rush the healing process. This is especially true of us mothers and full-time employees. 3) The more time you can take to heal, the better chance you have that your scarring will be minimal. My surgery was in October, and I still have pain from my lipo and TT w/muscle repair. 4) I still need to wear my binder. It's hard to sleep comfortably without it, and during the day, even short periods without one leave me feeling very sore. 5) Sitting straight for too long and driving are hard on me, especially without my binder. I still have to rise from a seated position gingerly. 6) I still have a lot of abdominal tension, but I learned that the position of the umbilicus and how tightly you are sewn affect this as the skin is still stretching. 7) All the above have limited my ability to work out. It's closer to 12 weeks, and I still feel I can't do a whole workout comfortably. 8) Tummy tucks sever the nerves in your abdomen. You may never regain your entire range of feeling. It could take up to 3 years for your nerve receptors to reconnect. But after three years they tend to be set.
