I had an infection scare last Saturday (well, I thought the drain site might be infected but it turned out it was just irritated) and both Dr. Reish and the PA Rachel were so nice about my texting them on a Saturday. Not something I advocate but I was really freaking out. They agreed that I should have the drain taken out due to the problems I had been having with it (The bulb was having a harder time staying compressed as well as the suture holding the drain in place coming out) so I'm finally getting it taken out today! I've been below 30cc for the past 3 days so hopefully it can come out and I will not get a seroma.

Thankful no issue other than irritation, but wow I was surprised you still have the drain in. Hoping your next post confirms it's out this time. Your BB is gonna be a cutie for sure and your shape once swelling is gone should be smokin!! Keep healing and posting . I'm a huge fan.

FYI for larger patients

Cutituplikeaham
I was supposed to get the second drain removed today but I am still draining 45-60cc every 24 hours. This is apparently more common in larger patients. So I had to find a plastic surgeon who will remove the drain when I get home because at this point I don't know when it will stop and I fly back tomorrow. So for anyone larger who is considering this procedure, you might want to plan to stay 3 weeks instead of the 2 so you won't have to decide between paying for expensive last minute changes or flying home with a drain still in.

Thank you so much! Fortunately, TSA didn't give me too much trouble (they just had to swab my hands and look at the drain) so I was able to make it home but my output increased from 40--60cc to 95 that day! Probably from the extra activity but I want it to go down, not up

Great to hear you're home safe and sound. I can't imagine the additional worries with getting this done out of state/country. You're a brave soul. Wishing all goes well getting the drains removed with a new PS. Keep healing.

Lol i am a size 6 and i had drains in 2 weeks took out for fear of infection. Then each week drained 250cc Week 3 and 4.. I am week 5 had 60 cc aspirated and will will need to got have him needle aspirate again. Getting better but.... This is not a 2 week recovery procedure!!! I had zero muscle involvement just skin. My doctor is a good surgeon but did not discuss anything with me. I am shocked he has good outcomes. I didnt know i’d wake with drains,i am in med field so i knew how to milk them ect. No one told me to do so. I feel very tight and some knots. Read up could be seroma ect. So post op after wound closed i took hot baths an started to massage. Asked dr if ok. He said oh yea its encouraged! Thanks for telling me! I also have bought silcone strips for scar. Never told me to do this!! Huge difference!! Anyway moist heat, heating pad low, moving around after wound closed is all good speeds things up!! I am no dr but it is what is working. I also bought high waisted thong spanx and i am 5 wks still using binder part of day. If goin somewhere leave off. Most day/night leave on feels good keeps swelling down. I had some inaugural swelling suspect lymph nodes but those are resolving but where painful wk 4.

Today was my first post op visit (1 week today since surgery). I had one of the two drains removed and I was cleared to shower!!! I'm so excited about that. I feel so gross. I go back Wednesday to get the second drain removed (Hopefully, since I fly back home Thursday).
