don't go to him

DO NOT go to this doctor. I had a tummy tuck with him. The day after I was home from my tummy tuck, my incision opened about a 2inch opening. I tried bandages and steri strips. Nothing worked because I was healing and draining so the steri strips wouldn’t stay on. I called Dr. Camp. He had me come to his office (a 2.5-hour drive one way). He proceeded to use steri strips to close the incision. I told him I already tried this at home, and it wouldn’t stay. He is very much the personality that you are not going to tell him what is best. Needless to say, I was sent home with steri strips. That evening they came off because all the fluids your body produces when healing. I was very upset because I told him they wouldn’t stay. I was exhausted, trying to heal, and it was a drive to his office plus my husband took time off from work to drive me. Well, I had to go back up to him and then he put the sutures in. I started to notice I had this bulge above the incision. My stomach was not what I was told it would look like nor was it pleasing to look at. I pointed this out to Dr. Camp at follow up. He told me I was still healing and swollen. After a few more months, it was not getting better. I went to see him and asked for a revision. He agreed that it did not take the shape it was meant to. I had to pay for the facility and anesthesia again. He informed me that he had found a seroma and he removed it. Okay. I tried to tell you months ago something wasn’t right. A doctor should be able to detect a seroma as when you push on it you can see the fluid move. Now, surgery 2 down, somethings not RIGHT AGAIN. And my mons pubis area looked fat and stuck out this time. Plus, my stomach is bulging again. Go back to Dr. Camp feeling completely defeated. He insisted that “I did NOT have another seroma. He removed it.” He was rude and arrogant during my visit. He didn’t even feel my stomach to see if he could detect anything. After a few months, I returned to him upset and wanting him to fix the bulging mons and bulging stomach above my incision. Again, I paid for the surgical facility and anesthesia. Guess what???? Absolutely, I had another seroma! For months, I had been telling Dr. Camp this! He removed it again. He placed a drain this time out the side of the incision, which I knew was going to leave a bad scar. I couldn’t believe it. Oh, and my belly button was messed up- bad scar and he put in back in sideways. I know this because I had my belly button pierced when I was younger, and it left a scar. At this point, I couldn’t deny what I had been feeling for some time. That this doctor doesn’t know what he is doing and does crappy work. After my last revision, he wanted the drain out 3 days later. I held him off till for a couple more days. When I went for my follow up, I told him I wanted to leave my drain in because it was still draining 50cc a day. I had been keeping track. He didn’t want that and took the drain out! Months pass, the mons looks better but the stomach is starting to not look good again. I reached out to Dr. Camp informing him that I believed I had another seroma and asked him what he had done differently this time to prevent a seroma from forming. Nothing! He did the same thing he did the last 2 times. Except this time, he didn’t want to deal with me. This had been going on over a year. He treated me very much like he wanted me to go away, disappear. At this point, I completely lost all faith in his abilities. What doctor does the same thing he previously done (the last 2 times) and doesn’t try something to mitigate it from happening again with a patient that keeps getting seromas I should have listened to other plastic surgeons on the internet saying watch out for plastic surgeons that have to advertise. Their work (word of mouth) is all a good plastic surgeon needs. Mind you, I saw Dr. Camp on a billboard on the way up to his office. No joke. I would be very cautious of allowing him to work on you. Educate yourself with a good plastic surgeon-what to expect, look for. Please go to someone that can handle any issues that may arise from a procedure like this. There are lots of things good surgeons do so patients don’t develop a seroma from all the dead space created during surgery. I look botched and paid A LOT of money to him!
