Good Results Overall, but Complications Affected My Experience
I’m sharing my experience to help others make an informed decision.
One of the biggest positives with Dr. Luis Plaza is the aftercare. He has a recovery house with nurses available 24/7, assistance with bathing and medication, healthy meals prepared by a cook, post-op massages arranged at the house, and private drivers for hospital visits and airport transfers. The doctor also checks in multiple times before and after surgery, and the staff is very attentive and supportive.
In terms of my overall body results, I do look much better than before, and aesthetically I was happy with the shape and contour achieved. However, I experienced lipo burns, which later developed into keloid scarring, and that has been the most difficult part of my journey. While my body shape improved, the scarring significantly affected my confidence and overall satisfaction.
This risk was never clearly explained to me beforehand, and I didn’t even know lipo burns were a possible complication at the time. I’ve since seen reviews mentioning that certain parts of the procedure may sometimes be handled by assistants, but I can’t say for sure what caused my burns — whether it was the technique, the additional J-Plasma, or something else. I did try reaching out privately to the doctor to understand what may have caused it, but I didn’t receive a response. I wasn’t looking to place blame — I just wanted clarity.
Thankfully, I’ve since found a doctor in Trinidad who is helping me treat and significantly reduce the keloids. I will still have some scarring, but it is much more minimal compared to the large, raised keloids left behind from the initial burns, and I’m grateful to finally be seeing improvement.
Many patients around me had excellent results, and I understand my experience may not be the norm. Still, I strongly believe that full transparency about risks, including thermal burns, and clear communication before and after surgery are essential.
I recommend anyone considering surgery here to research thoroughly, ask detailed questions about risks and who performs each part of the procedure, and make sure they are fully informed and comfortable before proceeding.
