First, we all look at others who are most similar to where we are in our own journeys. We want to be able to relate to someone who is most like us to see what their results are so with that my stats are:
Age: 51 (ok but 3 weeks after surgery I'll be 52)
Current weight: 165-ish
Height: 5' 2"
Have 2 grown daughters (22 & 21) and husband who are all home during the Covid quarantine and are all supportive of me in my journey.
Occupation: Administrative Assistant
Ok so that's out of the way.

How exciting! Do you have a profile here?

Yes, I started a review with some pre-surgery pics. My procedure was 2 days ago. I haven’t post any picture post op yet. I’m all bandaged up. I go to my dr on Tuesday and hope to get pics then.

Clearance for surgery

Yesterday (5/1) I had to see my GP for blood work and EKG to clear me for surgery (5/16). This cost isn’t included so I’m grateful for having HMO. My cost for this visit was a $10 co-pay vs. a guesstimate of around $500. I informed my Dr. who is doing my surgery and his response was “he does excellent work; he’s very meticulous”. PERFECT!
Blood pressure 98/70
Pulse 70
Respiration 16
Oxygen saturation 98%
BMI 31.68

2 weeks ago today I was getting ready for surgery :)

My first drain came out 1 week after and my 2nd drain on day 10. It was looking oozey so I sent a pic to my dr and he suggested it be removed. I was walking My dog slowly around the block by day 5. Getting around in and out of car easily by day 8 and I even went to work one day on day 13. I’m definitely swollen but am really happy with my current results. Still not sleeping in bed but my bed is kind of high. My incision is looking really good so I’m excited to start treatment on scar once I get dr approval this week. On the upside I have 4 tankinis that I tried on that fit so nice now so I figure I can deduct about $400 from the cost of surgery lol.

2 weeks post op

Still thick but making progress. I had surgery 2 weeks ago today. I’ll be 52 in a week and a half so I know I’ll be a bit slower recovering that the 30-somethings. I had an extended TT so all the way around to the back of my hips with MR and lipo and the muscle repair was definitely the part that stood out. 1st drain out in one week and 2nd drain at 10 days.....see pic. It was getting oozey so I text a pic to dr and he suggested it be removed. I felt that one ore than the first....kinda weird but no pain.
I’ve been getting up and down on my own since about day 5. Been around the block to walk to walk my dog (slowly) since about day 8. Preparing dinners for my family and pretty much back to normal by the end of week 2 Went to work on day 13 for about 6 hours which entailed a lot of up and down and sitting in between. Was nice to get out. But glad it was only one day. I work at a school so it was the last scheduled day for the year.
Bought waaaaay to many supplies. I wish I could pack it all up and resell as a surgery pkg lol.
So.....so far so good. I’m ecstatic to be recovering instead of waiting. I was never nervous about it I was always READY! Oh and I’m 11 pounds down from my day of surgery!
Dr. Lu and his team have been great. I haven’t needed much so I think I’m an easy patient.

So glad to hear your recovery is going well! I am a couple days shy of 7 months post op and I am 99.9% back to normal. I am 50 and so glad I had this done! My advice is to wear your compression stuff and don't rush things. Main goal is to keep your recovery uneventful. You are looking great. I'm sure you are going to be very pleased with your results. Happy healing!

Thanks for the advice. I think I finally found a compression garment I can live with. It's hard to wear when you are a outdoors and sweating so I need to stay in so I can comply lol. I want to get out so bad but so grateful to have been able to finally be here!

Totally agree! The extra padding and compression was actually helpful in the winter when I had mine. I would have not done so well in the warmer weather
