Wish I Had a Better Experience Worth Looking into if You Fit the Clientele

Honestly I really contemplated writing this review for several reasons. One most importantly because I did not meet with the Dr himself and two the staff that I did meet was kind and very knowledgeable, and I was very happy with the P.A. But their business model is not for everyone and after not hearing back from the since I left the office Tuesday, when I was told I would be contacted the next day regarding insurance coverage. I definitely knew it’s not for me and I’m not for them.
I messaged with them very thoroughly before making the $100 payment to get the consultation, to take off of work, and make the 4 hour meeting with them (2 Hour Drive/2 Hour Consult) I explained before I made that appt that I was approved through insurance with another surgeon for a procedure. I told them my out of pocket cost for the full procedure after what insurance was paying and was told the two procedures were quite similar/comparable in price to what I was going to be paying with my current surgeon. So I wanted to do my due diligence to get another consult make sure I connected 100% with the Dr, staff and that I’d be comfortable that I was getting the best care. So I made the appointment.
After my sit down with the PA I sat down for the quote. I was quoted nearly $20k. Now I’m not saying the Surgeon may not be exactly worth every penny of that 20k but I was told the next day they would call my insurance to find out how much they would pay for my covered procedure so they can deduct that from my quote. This is how I know I would not get a call back and that I didn’t exactly feel like I “fit” into their typical clientele. When she made the comment that the Dr does try to work with clients that are lower income so they can get such luxuries that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford made me feel like a price tag and not a patient or maybe I’m not the typical patients they see every day who is able to pay out of pocket. But had they not of said the panniculectomy and full tummy tuck were close in price I would have never booked an appt. Thinking okay, if my insurance covers X amount I’m just paying the difference for the full procedure that is needed after insurance pays for what’s covered.
It was just disappointing to say the least. I won’t down the practice for its work or expertise but the process for me after dealing with years of mental and physical challenges due to previous health issues and gastrointestinal surgeries. I’m finally ready to move forward both mentally and physically to erase some of what I’ve gone through and I was so excited for it until I felt like I didn’t deserve the same care as others who can afford such luxury. I wasn’t even worth a call back to the next day to let me know what insurance said they would pay, to see if I could afford the balance
