I've been joking & dreaming about getting a tummy tuck for years. I had an intestinal resection due to Crohn's Disease 20 years ago (the old way, NOT laparoscopic) and a c-section after that. My skin never felt like it was part of my body. It did not matter how many crunches I did or weight I lost, my belly wouldn't budge. All the skin just hung there.

I had three consultations with doctors in Orlando - two free and one paid. If I was going to do this, I was going to meet at least three doctors to make a decision. The good news is all three doctors agreed my skin wasn't really attached anymore and a tummy tuck with muscle repair was needed. WHEW. I was making the right decision.

From the online booking of the consult to my 8 week post op today, I have been treated like a human. No one ever tried to up-sell me to get more procedures than I went in for and everyone made me feel at home. Dr. Azad listened to my concerns and answered every question I had (and I asked A LOT of questions). I ended up booking an extended tummy tuck with muscle repair & circumferential lipo.

Now, a tummy tuck is a MAJOR procedure. The drains are serious and a PITA. Sleeping on your back is not fun. You will hate yourself for doing this the first 2 weeks (days 7-9 were the hardest for me) and you'll hate your doctor. Luckily, Dr. Azad is very experienced and will tell you this! Then, when you do hate him, he doesn't take it personally. He's there to help you. To listen and to answer your questions. It wasn't until 4 weeks post op I started to feel much more like myself and started feeling truly happy about my decision.

Everything about recovery is a production - the meds, getting a shower, draining the drains, wearing the compression garment. I'm not a patient person so I'm sharing this because after having two MAJOR medical surgeries involving my abdomen, this was by far the hardest to recover from. That's the reality of it, but the reward to yourself is well worth it.

At 7.5 weeks post-op my skin is SUPER tight, I'm still laying on my back to sleep and wearing the compression garment. When I make food choices, I think about protecting my investment since I'm not back to exercising yet (but got cleared today, minus crunches!).

No other doctor compares to Dr. Azad, in my opinion. His bedside manner, communication, team & professionalism are top notch. His surgical work is true artistry - there is NO scar around my belly button and the incision is SUPER low. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner.
