Dr. Loutfy is charismatic and instills confidence. I had a substantial diastasis after having children. I’m thin, 5’1” and 112lbs. I did not have saggy skin. Just damaged, thin, and stretch marks.
My diastasis (confirmed with a CT scan) was from my mons pubis all the way up to my sternum. The diastsis was my primary concern and not so much aesthetics. Loutfy said I was a tough case due to previous umbilical hernia repair and thin tissues, but he told me he would stitch it up so tight that he would need to check to make sure my lungs could properly inflate. He also suggested mesh to make sure the diastatis didn’t return.
I’m now 10 months post opp and very disappointed. My lower hip to hip scar looks good. I have a bumpy vertical scar below my belly button.
My primary complaint however is that my abs are still open above my belly button. I can feel where the mesh ends and it is like 1 inch above my belly button. My abs are still spread far apart from my belly button up (about two finger widths). I still get doming when I lift up with my abs.
I asked Loutfy why they were open and he got very defensive and told me he sewed them tight. He told me he made it as tight as possible and there was only so much he could do because I had children. I felt very gaslit and his defensive attitude seemed like an admission of guilt. My tissue is so thin that I can feel sutures. I feel nothing above my belly button and I don’t believe him. He told me to wait and let it heal and that we would discuss at a follow up. Well I went to my follow up and he didn’t show up. He just had me meet with a medical assistant.
Additionally, I had a breast lift. The shape looks ok (7/10) in my opinion but the scarring is really bad. I had multiple split stitches that I contacted his office about and was never given antibiotics or any treatment for them. My issues persisted for over a week then sutures were removed. I can’t help but wonder if the prolonged issues with the split stitches contributed to my scars widening. I will likely get a revision by a surgeon I trust. I no longer trust Loutfy due to how he reacted to me asking about my diastasis.
I feel like I was robbed for the cost of a full tummy tuck with full mesh. I think I received a modified mini tummy tuck with partial mesh. More than the cost of the procedure was the fact that I lost 6 weeks of my life for a brutal recovery from a procedure that wasn’t done as discussed.
