CG Cosmetics... Excellent MD, but poor pain management

I came from Atlanta, GA to have my procedure. Dr. Freiman did my extended tummytuck and liposuction. I’m 3 weeks postop and my results are amazing. I’m so happy with his work. The only draw back which was HUGE and made my recovery miserable for the first weeek was he only gives you enough narcotics/Percocet for 3 days. I did not realize this until I’m postop and running low on narcotics. At my follow up appt I voice my concern to the PA. She just adamantly stated that they do not give refills on narcotics. It was only when I ended up in the ER because my pain was unmanageable, on postop day 4, that I was told by the ER MD that Florida has just passes new strict laws on the way narcotics are prescribed and that she would only be able to give me another 3 day supply. She also referred me to a pain mngt MD in FL if I was going to be in town longer than 3 days. I flew home POD 6, so thank goodness I didn’t run into that issue. If I was to know all of this before hand I could’ve got a prescription for Percocet by the MD that agreed to follow me when I came back to ATL before flying down to Miami for my surgery. It is impossible to think someone can have this procedure without being on narcotics for a minimum of one week. I’m a RN on a Progressive care unit in Atlanta. I agree 100% that narcotics are sometimes given to people too freely. Having such a major painful surgery… At the very least the surgeon should let you know ahead of time what you were looking at as far as receiving pain medication so you can properly prepare.
