'Zero refund' policy

ORIGINAL POST

No scruples, ethics or morals!

I paid a deposit of £600, r13500 for a Tummy Tuck. Three weeks before I found I had cancer. This was stressful, devastating and life changing news. I was on holiday from the UK. I had to go through 28 sessions of radiation and two weeks of chemotherapy which Dr Maresky was well aware of. This was debilitating treatment. I requested a refund of my deposit four times, as I could not physically proceed with my Tummy Tuck. I was totally ignored for a month despite ringing his PA and emailing him. I dread to think what would have happened should I have proceeded and had complications! I finally received an email confirming he had been to busy to respond earlier. He confirmed he had a 'zero refund' policy and despite the fact I had gone through a life changing and stressful cancer treatment a refund would not be given. I was flabbergasted as were many other staff within Christian Barnard. I don't know how he sleeps at night.

Well, believe what you will.
Straightforward is anything but straightforward.
We have a policy that she was very well aware of before the surgery.
When I found out that she had developed this condition I naturally commiserate with her and offered her the opportunity to redeem her deposit when she was ready in the future.
She did not like this and tried to force me to refund her with strategies like this and others less successful and more suspect.
When you are in her limelight you are golden, step out of it and you will be vilified.
I still wish her well despite her harsh and unfair words.
