My prescription is -7.00 in both eyes, and I've worn glasses since grade school.

Had my evaluation to see if I was a good candidate for LASIK first. They examined the shape and thickness of my corneas, and tested my prescription. I was given an informational packet to take home with me about the risks and benefits of LASIK, and about the laser technology used in the operation.

After that, I had the pre-exam, where they did some more testing and confirmed my prescription. I was also given some pre- and post- procedure care sheets and two prescriptions for eyedrops, one antibacterial to prevent infections and one steroid to treat eye swelling. During the pre-exam they dilated my eyes, and it took around 24 hours before it had worn off. The next morning I stopped by the place where the LASIK would take place and they took pictures of my corneas and took a map of my eyes to prepare for the surgery. I also started the antibiotic eye drops the day before the surgery to prevent infections.
