I had co2 laser skin resurfacing under my eyes in February 2017 by Dr. Paulsen. Every place the laser hit I was left with deep marks under my eyes. Dr. Paulsen offered to redo the procedure but would not tell me what went wrong the first time and what he would do differently. Who would think laser resurfacing from a board certified plastic surgeon would end up like that. The truly worst part is the fat/volume loss I have from the laser all over my face. Dr. Paulsen told me it wasn't possible for the co2 laser to kill/melt fat. I gave him a chance to do the right thing. I was actually going to let him do fillers on me because I know he knows fillers, but he had no interest in helping me. He sent me away with a face that aged tremendously from volume loss and the deep marks that he left under my eyes . Here are some of my before and after photos provided by Dr. Paulsen's office. They would only provide the before photos from a colored printer. There is an article about laser skin resurfacing and fat loss by a board certified plastic surgeon named Ricardo L Rodriguez, MD out of Maryland, and his blog and the article are online. There are other doctors who also have written articles and posted them online discussing fat loss with laser resurfacing. Contrary to what many drs will tell you it IS possible! They are regurgitating what the manufacturer claims and it has to be stopped. This was not even listed as a possible risk. Anyone who has had bad experiences with these devices should report it to Maude and Medwatch. This is part of the fda website and you can do it online.

Thanks for telling me about the website. I am sorry that happened to you. I feel the same way. Volume loss happened to me too. I am so self conscience now. I did infini rf and I saw crepey skin and so many wrinkles around my eyes that I never had before. I can see in before and after pictures the fatloss is noticeable. It changed my face. I feel robbed of my youth. So, for the crepey skin I did a very superficial co2 laser treatment. It wasn't deep but I can see it caused slight volumeloss and didn't improve my skin texture. I think it made my wrinkles and skin texture worse and gave me hyperpigmentation under my eyes. since it wasn't an aggressive procedure it could have been worse, but it definetly didn't improve my skin. Just made it slightly worse than it was after the infini rf. Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I've been having a hard time ever since that stupid procedure.

Hang in there.I'm still in shock.I go out of my way not to be seen now.

Me too. Don't want to be seen either. I feel like this is a nightmare. this has ruined my life. I am going to try fat grafting. But I am so scared because I can't believe how these doctors have lied and what has been done to my face. I am so embarressed and insecure. I am going to a good plastic surgeon who is expensive but I want to make sure this gets fixed. Do you think I'm shallow for wanting to fix the damage? I know I haven't showed you a picture but I feel deformed. Do you think I'm a bad person for wanting to fix it?
January 30, 2018
Of course not! Don't blame yourself for others mistakes. Have you done a lot of research on fat grafting? I have been looking into it too.Do you have some plastic surgeons you have in mind? I am looking for people's suggestions.

Well I'm in Washington so I was thinking dr nacify because his ratings are good and he has a lot experience with fat grafting. If i had the money I would see dr Nassif! He fixes other doctors mess ups. Well I'm hoping to do this in a month. Are you going to do something soon also?
January 31, 2018
I don't know what's going to happen.Let me know how it all goes.
January 29, 2018
Thanks girls
I have been wanting to hear the after stories & am definitely not considering this treatment now
January 31, 2018
Your welcome. Please don't. I did infini rf and it caused so much volume loss I feel deformed. It gave me wrinkles, poor skin texture, and changed my face. I'm devastated

I don't understand why doctors keep denying that lasers can cause fat loss. It is quite evident from your photos that there is a loss of volume in your cheeks after the procedure. I am sorry this happened to you and i hope you find someone who can fix the damage.

So sorry for your bad experiences with CO2. Never ceases to amaze me how doctors involved in these tragedies act innocent and confused as to why the patient could possibly think there are issues. Hope you can find a plastic surgeon to help with corrective treatment.

Oh my gawd why would he offer to do it again if it was a negative outcome the first time. It's not going to improve it but possibly make it worse. This doctor is an idiot.

Im very sorry you are going through this and bless you for sharing the ordeal with us. I wish you could or would take him to court. You need compensation and he needs to feel the pain of what he did.

Thank you, it's been hard.

Hi I had an aggressive laser treatment nearly three years ago,my life has been a nightmare since!I have severe scarring and devastating fat loss,my face no longer resembles the face I had before laser.I have aged so much and every day I see more damage,I am so scared wondering what I am going to look like.I have been in pain since I had laser and my face burns and hurts most of the time.My life as I knew it is over. Chris.
February 13, 2018
I'm sorry.Did you report it to medwatch? What kind of laser was it?
February 14, 2018
I am in Australia so no!My herbalist wants me to write a report for our TGA in Australia but I have only got as far as the rough copy as every time I relive it I break down,I must try and finish it!.It was pearl laser and then I had some IPL for all the redness and broken capillaries that the laser had left me with.Little did I know I was getting more damage,I asked continually if it was safe and was told by the nurse that it was perfectly safe light hmmmm!! At the time the scarring hadn’t appeared so I was trying to look normal to get back to work! The plastic surgeon who did the laser is one of the top ps’s over here so it wasn’t as if I went to someone dodgy!.I just wished he had told me that he didn’t do a lot of laser and his speciality is boob jobs and face lifts!.Its the continual deterioration that is the hardest to deal with as it never stops. I hope you are doing ok,my damage is much more severe than yours! Chris.

Chris, please consider getting that letter sent to the TGA. It's really immoral that this goes on and doctors aren't reporting it. The lasers are big business and until someone holds them accountable it will continue and they will profit tremendously. Hang on, I know it's hard and it's not fair.
February 15, 2018
Hi I will make a committed effort to finish the letter this weekend,It is emotionally draining doing it and I have been avoiding it,I will let you know when I send it.Thanks chris.
February 16, 2018
I understand, hang in there.
May 6, 2019
Chris, I am so very sorry this happened to you! No one deserves this. Do you have any before and after pictures you can share? I know that it's been awhile since you posted this. I hope things are getting better for you as time goes on??
