I had co2 laser skin resurfacing under my eyes in February 2017 by Dr. Paulsen. Every place the laser hit I was left with deep marks under my eyes. Dr. Paulsen offered to redo the procedure but would not tell me what went wrong the first time and what he would do differently. Who would think laser resurfacing from a board certified plastic surgeon would end up like that. The truly worst part is the fat/volume loss I have from the laser all over my face. Dr. Paulsen told me it wasn't possible for the co2 laser to kill/melt fat. I gave him a chance to do the right thing. I was actually going to let him do fillers on me because I know he knows fillers, but he had no interest in helping me. He sent me away with a face that aged tremendously from volume loss and the deep marks that he left under my eyes . Here are some of my before and after photos provided by Dr. Paulsen's office. They would only provide the before photos from a colored printer. There is an article about laser skin resurfacing and fat loss by a board certified plastic surgeon named Ricardo L Rodriguez, MD out of Maryland, and his blog and the article are online. There are other doctors who also have written articles and posted them online discussing fat loss with laser resurfacing. Contrary to what many drs will tell you it IS possible! They are regurgitating what the manufacturer claims and it has to be stopped. This was not even listed as a possible risk. Anyone who has had bad experiences with these devices should report it to Maude and Medwatch. This is part of the fda website and you can do it online.

Oh my gawd why would he offer to do it again if it was a negative outcome the first time. It's not going to improve it but possibly make it worse. This doctor is an idiot.

Dr. Paulsen offered to redo the procedure but would not tell me what went wrong the first time and what he would do differently.Dr. Paulsen told me it wasn't possible for the co2 laser to kill/melt fat.I told him I saw fat loss under my more aggressively treated eye within days of the co2.He told me he didn't see it.He actually told me that under the eye that he had destroyed looked firmer and had no fat loss. The fat loss continued for months all over my face. I gave Dr Paulsen a chance to do the right thing. I was actually going to let him do fillers on me because I know he knows fillers, but he had no interest in helping me. Im very sorry you are going through this and bless you for sharing the ordeal with us. I wish you could or would take him to court. You need compensation and he needs to feel the pain of what he did.

Hi I had an aggressive laser treatment nearly three years ago,my life has been a nightmare since!I have severe scarring and devastating fat loss,my face no longer resembles the face I had before laser.I have aged so much and every day I see more damage,I am so scared wondering what I am going to look like.I have been in pain since I had laser and my face burns and hurts most of the time.My life as I knew it is over. Chris.

I am in Australia so no!My herbalist wants me to write a report for our TGA in Australia but I have only got as far as the rough copy as every time I relive it I break down,I must try and finish it!.It was pearl laser and then I had some IPL for all the redness and broken capillaries that the laser had left me with.Little did I know I was getting more damage,I asked continually if it was safe and was told by the nurse that it was perfectly safe light hmmmm!! At the time the scarring hadn’t appeared so I was trying to look normal to get back to work! The plastic surgeon who did the laser is one of the top ps’s over here so it wasn’t as if I went to someone dodgy!.I just wished he had told me that he didn’t do a lot of laser and his speciality is boob jobs and face lifts!.Its the continual deterioration that is the hardest to deal with as it never stops. I hope you are doing ok,my damage is much more severe than yours! Chris.

Chris, please consider getting that letter sent to the TGA. It's really immoral that this goes on and doctors aren't reporting it. The lasers are big business and until someone holds them accountable it will continue and they will profit tremendously. Hang on, I know it's hard and it's not fair.

Hi I will make a committed effort to finish the letter this weekend,It is emotionally draining doing it and I have been avoiding it,I will let you know when I send it.Thanks chris.

Chris, I am so very sorry this happened to you! No one deserves this. Do you have any before and after pictures you can share? I know that it's been awhile since you posted this. I hope things are getting better for you as time goes on??
