I've ways been very self-conscious about my nose. Now finally, at 32 years old, I was able to schedule my rhinoplasty. I had my consult on June 9th and had my surgery on August 25th. I'm happy with my results so far, but at 12 days post op I know I still have a lot of changes ahead. At this point I feel like it's a little more turned up than I would like, but I'm trying to be patient.

Your results are great! Your nose will drop down as you heal even though I don't think it's too upturn. Btw I consultef Dr. Byrne for my rhino revision but I ended up choosing another surgeon.

Thank you. It's such an emotional roller coaster. One minute I think it looks fine and then I see it at a different angle and feel like it looks funny. Overall I'm quite happy with it, I just wish I could know what it's going to look like in the end.

Who are you going with?

@ Sammie I already had the revision with Dr. Kofi Boahene.

I had a skype appointment with him and he didn't show up, call or cancel. Never heard from Karen either. I can't believe that these doctors get away with so much unprofessional practices.

Did you see Dr. Byrne at Belecara or Johns Hopkins? I am going to see him for a revision rhinoplasty.

Surgery details

I realized I didn't include much about my surgery in my first post. So here is a more detailed version of everything. I had a dorsal hump reduction, my tip deprojected, bulbous area on my upper tip (about halfway up my nose) reduced, and my tip rotated up slightly. I was hesitant about the rotation but after talking with my surgeon agreed that rotating it up very conservatively would be best. I had a very easy initial recovery. On pain meds for 3 days, then just one before bed for 2 additional days, then 2 days of extra strength Tylenol. The pain was nowhere near what I was expecting. I had mild bruising compared to some of the pictures I've seen and all bruising was gone before my cast removal.

Now, at 13 days post op, the area where my dorsal hump was is still tender and feels bruised. My nose feels numb in places and feels very swollen/stiff. I'm sure this will get better once the swelling goes away.

Last night I went out to a dinner party and was so worried about it looking piggish. I know it's swollen, but I'm posting a couple pics that show what I'm talking about.

You definitely don't look piggish, but that is a very common feeling after rhinoplasty, especially when the tip has been worked on. Please keep us posted as you continue to heal. Here's what a couple doctors say about the tip dropping a bit over time.

3 weeks post op

Well I'm 3 weeks post op now and really happy with how it's going. Still hoping the tip will drop a little more as it heals and the swelling goes, but overall very happy. Still sleeping upright (how long is that usually recommended?) and taking arnica. :)
