I went to Dr.Plant last spring to correct my deep tear troughs. I have always had dark circles and the deep set lines were becoming more noticeable with age.

I decided to start interviewing doctors and booked a consultation with Dr.Plant; I was able to book an appointment quickly. A few days later I drove downtown Toronto, to the east end.

My appointment was around 8:30am so finding parking near his office was easy. I only waited around 10 mins before I was called in. Once I met him I explained that I wanted to improve my deep set tear troughs. He suggested Restylane and explained the expected outcomes, procedures and cost.

I asked him how soon he was booking appointments and he said he could to do it right then. I foolishly agreed although I decided I was only in the interviewing stage.

Getting the injections was overall a bad experience and quite scary. He started with the left side; after around 5 mins of him doing it I started to feel faint, hot and sweaty. I let him know that I was feeling like I was going to pass out, he stopped and laid down. I was seeing stars and explained it to him. It was very awkward he didn't seem to know what to do. I was very surprised this happened as minutes before he ensured me that very little could go wrong with the procedure.

It was a very awkward situation and only minutes after I felt like he was hinting that he should continue. He gave me a silicon implant to squeeze while he was injected the right side. When he was doing it I felt like a big squish, he told me to see what I looked like in the mirror. It looked uneven with more on the side he just did.

He agreed and he put a bit more on the other side to even it out. It still looked uneven and he disagreed so I didn't really think that much of it because I knew it was probably swollen.

A few weeks later it appeared to protrude on the left side. I booked and appointment to see Dr.Plant about my concerns.

My second appointment with him was also bad! When I saw him I explained how I was disappointed with the way it looked. I told him that I even had family members asking way under my eye was all puffy (my mom still asks me to this day why it looks like that). He finally agreed that it looked uneven and offered me 10% discount. I was actually enraged that doesn't even cover tax/ travel cost and why would I ever go see him for future work.

In all, the whole experience was awful; the consultation and surgery was all very quick, felt very rushed! The outcome was not as expected or even what he said it would turn out like. When I schedule the second appointment to discuss my dissatisfaction he only offered me 10% off my next procedure!

So sorry for your bad experience!
I have had fillers in the same area now twice; July 2015 and April 2016 and I have been pleased with the results and the filler I had was Juvaderm Voluma which was injected into the cheeks and massaged upwards as my clinic does not inject directly under the eyes for safety reasons. Another practitioner I saw wanted to use restylane but I had a bad feeling about it. Juvaderm Voluma has lidocaine in it which helps number the pain plus they put numbing cream on my face first and I sat in the waiting room while it started working. I have read a number of bad experiences with restylane and none so far with Juvaderm Voluma though it is more expensive. Still I would recommend it if you want to try again in future. Though I understand you are just upset right now waiting for the restylane to smooth out.

Numb not number the pain!

So sorry! You need hylauronidase (sp?) to dissolve the filler. Then you should be back to normal again. Good luck!

I just saw your review .i had a similar experience,i was suggested the compass dermatology for hyluronidase on request (to be referred somewhere else). So far,my experience with it is good although wait times are long

The same thing happened to but worse in a way. I had my eyes done once and they were very under corrected so I went back and he added another vial split between my eyes. That filled them out but , after a few days, a crease like yours appeared. The doctor refused to correct it and said that I would just find something else to complain about. I was willing to pay for more to fill in the crease. I went to a second plastic surgeon and he filled in the crease. For a few days. It came right back!! I had it done Again and guess what? It's back. I am done trying to fill the crease. I don't want to dissolve all I have in there though. My one eye looks good. The other one...well, I can conceal some of it but it looks weird. I don't understand what happened but it happened to me with two doctors so I don't know if it is technique or anatomy or just bad luck. :(

Which product you used?

Restylane. All four times.... I have been bruised basically for five months while I try to make things better. I gave up and am waiting for it to just dissolve on its own.

I have had that happen. Creases like that happen when the doctor fills the area too superficially. It can easily be removed with hyaluronidase. If the material is thicker like a Voluma or Juvaderm, it may take two or so visits to get rid of it. But more filler is not the way to go. It would just get worse.

It is Restylane but it was done four times by two different doctors and simply would not fill. Very weird. It's starting to fade away on its own so I will just wait it out. I would love to try again but I don't know if it is my anatomy or just a bunch of mistakes made. If I do it again, it will be with a canula for sure.

Hello going through same thing...Did you have any adverse reactions from the one that dissolves? Been a month and I am still puffy and have a big line/bag under one eye
January 25, 2017
As time passes , that eye looks less obviously weird. Or maybe I am just used to it now. It has been almost 6 months and I can cover the area pretty well with concealer and it only shows a little. I still hate it and am so mad that I spent so much and got a bad result that no one seems to be able to fix. I so want to try again but I can't imagine why the same thing wouldn't happen again. :( You can opt to have the stuff dissolved but I didn't. It does get better with time. I also massaged the area hoping to dissolve the puffiness and it seemed to help a bit.

Thanks for advice! Im praying that it will get better

Wow! I'm sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience! I recently had my tear troughs and Nasolabial folds done w Restylane. Overall I'm pretty pleased however I could still use another syringe to add a little more volume. Did he go directly in to the tear trough or did he go through your cheek w a cannula? I bruised terrible on my left side from going straight into my tt so I'm considering a cannula through my cheek when I go back to add a little to them. I wish you could go get them drained and possibly try again w another physician. The chance of this happening is usually pretty slim I think. I'm sorry girl! Best wishes
