Thank you for sharing your experience with us. What type of acne scarring do you have?  I thought you might find this video helpful:

Non Ablative Fraxel do not do much for indented acne scars. For indented scars, ablative CO2 lasers work best, in 1 or 2 sessions depending on severity.

I had CO2 laser. No help. Then I had 5 Fraxel treatments and after each treatment, saw modest improvement. Now, about 5 years out, my scarring is as bad as ever. I began to suspect that the visible improvement from Fraxel was because of the swelling that occurred after each treatment. I started looking for others with the same experience and found that micro swelling that can last for many months created the illusion of improvement in the scars' appearance. Once the swelling is completely resolved, the skin sinks back down and the scarring becomes apparent again. I hope you have a different outcome.

In my case the swelling lasted for 3-4 days only, right after when im done the laser i see a bit better and it back to normal after 5 days, and all of the laser practitioners said need to wait for at least 6 months to a year to see the difference, i don't if thats true or not thats why i'm on here searching for the real info about Non-Ablative fraxel laser, you had CO2 laser aswell but no help ? wow nothing can cure acne scars eh, i saw many people using roller and its cheap, does it work though ?

Dear DeathEmperor, I feel your frustration and I feel your pain. I want to emphasize that this answer is about my own experience and the conclusions I reached over time. Perhaps some others have had better results than I have. I was very optimistic when I had the CO2 laser. After a few weeks of healing, it seemed that there was some improvement. But after a few more months, I realized that it hadn't helped much, if any. When Fraxel came out, my dermatologist was promoting it and since I trusted her, I signed up for a full five sessions. I was initially pleased, but over time, I realized that there had been no lasting improvement. I have not used the roller, but as I understand it, the rollers have needles that prick the skin, causing the same type of microswelling that the Fraxel does. Sadly, in my opinion, it is all illusion. When the face swells, it pushes the indented scars up and it appears to make the scars better. The major swelling after a treatment does go down within a few days. But my experience is that a small amount of swelling lasts for several weeks or even months, giving the illusion of improvement. If you've seen the testimonials about Fraxel, you will see that the "After" photos are taken fairly soon after the procedure - when some swelling is still present. Even on this site, most before and after photos give no information about how long it has been since the procedure was done. If the photos are done within a few weeks of the procedure, then there is likely some swelling making the skin tighter and the scars seem less visible. I have researched injectable fillers but they are only temporary, so I have decided not to try them. I am now 61 years old (white female) and have been embarrassed by my skin since I was a teenager, so you see, I do understand. I have begun to know that my worth is not in my appearance and I have come to peace with that for the most part. My last attempt to improve my skin is to use a Collagen supplement and I will soon add a hyaluronic acid supplement. If it helps, hooray! If it doesn't, oh well. Anyone who doesn't accept me, scars and all, isn't worthy of my time. I do hope you will find a treatment that makes you feel better about yourself. But more, I hope you begin to understand that your worth has nothing at all to do with your appearance. I wish I had learned that a long time ago. Peace and best wishes. Cassie

Thanks for your great info Cassie, i believe you i think we have the same type of skins thats why we fell the same with these scars and laser thingy, my mom and you have the same age, mom told me only if i go for surgery and i'll see the real improvement cause mom said 30 years ago people used old technics and it worked, now people use hi-tech and it doesn't work, i do take Collagen supplement during the laser procedure and i will continue until a year like the laser people said, this is my only hope ill see if its work otherwise ill give up with it, to be honest my personal appearance isnt that important, i'd like to try out the LASER technology because i had EYE LASER CORRECTION with LASIK MD before, i had -2 prescriptions i spent 5k USD$ with LASIK MD and my eyes back to normal, now ive spent 4k usd$ with QEsthetics i don't know if my face back to normal ;) You said things that made sense according to my fraxel experience, you're right these swelling covered the scar for awhile only, i can tell, ive checked my pics last night ya it really was....ya will see if they lied to me ill wait for a year....thanks again Cassie.

Has anyone tried Evenswiss Regenerating Plasma after a CO2 laser treatment? It contains Vit. a,E, peptides and a whole lot of good ingrediates. It's the best product to use after a laser treatment.
UPDATED FROM DeathEmperor

?Ok i decided to write a review about my Fraxel....

DeathEmperor

Ok i decided to write a review about my Fraxel done in Downtown Toronto, there are some before laser pics with my Hat on, pics without Hat is after laser, this is a 3 months post from the 5th (last) treatment, Laser type was "Non Ablative Fractional Resurfacing" that what they called, what's the different between fraxel and "non ablative fractional" by the way ? . 2 pictures shown that i got darkred color skin from laser (2nd treatment) and it went away in 3 months, i also got something like a pimple but it wasnt it, and it also went away after 3rd treatment, I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF THIS LASER IMPROVES MY SKIN OR NOT YOU CAN JUDGE FOR ME BECAUSE TO ME THE SCARS ARE STILL THERE AND THE ONLY IMPROVEMENT IS MY FACE LOOKS BRIGHTER AND SHINES and CLEARED OUT MY ADULT ACNE (i'm honest on this, it really cleared my acne), to be exact it is 3 months and half. Procedure done on Feb 20th, 2015. Marcela was a nice person, she did not give me hope or anything all she said to me was, (even after the 5th treatment your skin will be the same, you will see the result in like a year, the percentage of improvement is based on how your body heals, everyone healing differently), the left Cheek BEFORE pic with the Hat, look closely you'll see a huge black dot near my mouth under my nose, that was the newest scar i accidently cut with a RAZOR BLADE, it made rolling scar there somehow, i think i need subcision or excision techniques for that, i used to nite club lack of sleep smoke drink everything bad in this world ! rarely wash my face and didn't care about acne when i was a teenager, i love popping acne and this was the reason i got scars now, i'm regret but oh well quit everything quit smoking drinking and clubbing, i don't use accutane and i hate its side effects that causes permanently, This Laser and Organic fruit helped me clear my acne, i don't have a lot of acne but 2 or 3 enough to make me [RS bleep] off. Thanks for reviewing, please tell me if this laser improve my face or not, ill head to Asia this year or look for a DR that do subcision/excision etc.

What type of Fraxel treatment did you have? Your scars look shallow and definitely treatable. I do notice minor improvement. How did you get rid of the hyperpigmentation?
June 24, 2015
Palomar Non-Ablative Fractional laser resurfacing. the hyperpigmentation was worst on the 1st day of 3rd treatment, i used OBAGI Hydrate, Sunscreen and Cleanser bought from the laser clinic, but right now i'm using Elizabeth Arden, i used most expensive products, i also take "Japanese Collagen Supplement called Mitsuwa" take 2 tubes a day. a box contain 30 tubes around 60$ cnd per box and the owner of this store gave me discount 3 boxes for 100$ cnd, pigmentation is not hard to treat, Seaweed All berries cucumber and collagen supplement get rid of that you know ? also you guys should have done 5 or 6 full session of laser treatment to see the result, most of you done 1 treatment only, but ill keep my face update with 1 full year cause the clinic told me the full result will be in a year.

Your skin does look a bit better, but mostly clearer and brighter. I don't think your scars are so bad they aren't improveable. To answer your question, I believe Fraxel and non-ablative fractional resurfacing are the same thing. I had 1 session of fraxel and knew that it wasn't going to work for me. I have rolling and boxcar scars, as well as a couple icepicks. So I then started microneedling (done in a professional setting.) I got about 10% improvement with 7 sessions. I also had 3 excisions. Two got no improvement, and one looks worse. So then I consulted with a plastic surgeon and he confirmed my suspicions and opinions, and said that I would need multiple treatments such as subcision, excisions done by scalpel NOT punch, fat grafting and fillers and ablative CO2. Also could consider lower face lift when I get a bit older if I still am unhappy, to stretch out scars and make them less visible. There is no fast fix. Acne scarring is expensive to repair or disguise and takes years. I would go for the subcision on your rolling scars first. If not, in the meantime you could do some microneedling. It does give some improvement and is inexpensive even at a professional's office. It's also pretty easy to tolerate and you heal fast.

Hi kjauderer thanks for your commenting, i'm on 6 months post now but ill post picture when its exact 1 year, you're right, the skin looks brighter and clearer, true all scars are hard to fix and very expensive, i'm gonna head to Asia cause it's very cheap there and they committed the result will be 80%, ive talked to them they said incision excision or subcision techniques are old and take too long, they doing fat grafting and injection to raise or fill the scar permanently, the thing is,,,, it's cheap so ill keep it a try, i lost HOPE in Laser technology i don't think they improve scars much except brightening your skin, right now i'm 6 months post and i don't see anything changed yet. after a year before i head to Asia ill post my pic and then after i come back to America ill show you guys me pics again see if Asian peoples can remove scars ;) good luck to you kjau
