Kybella Wasn't the Right Choice over Lipo for Me.

$1,861
$2500 for 2 treatments for slight submental fullness. First treatment Nov 21/16 (2 vials) took 6 weeks to get back to baseline with no improvement. Second treatment Jan 3/17 (2 vials) took 3 weeks to get back to baseline with almost imperceptible improvement - may just be wishful thinking - at today's 4 week mark.
Swelling and pain were far worse with the second treatment, but only lasted half the time of the sustained ache/swelling of the first treatment. I'm 5 foot 4, 130 pounds, lean, fit, and active.
I had been considering chin lipo and deeply regret choosing Kybella over lipo. Not only would I have been recovered by now with ideal results, I would have saved money overall and not looked terrible for the last 10 weeks with nothing to show for it.
If you're considering Kybella over lipo, choose lipo, otherwise know that Kybella will require many treatments at a higher expense with significant recovery time after every treatment if you've ruled out surgery.
I poured over Real Self reviews of Kybella for months before going ahead with what I'd hoped wouldn't be a noticeable procedure with good results. I now believe I either ignored reviews that were honest about the swelling and results, or not enough people detailed their full experience.
Sure, you can go back to work right away, but you'll look awful and many many pounds heavier for weeks on end, versus a week of lipo downtime with a week or so of recovery, and you're done. Additionally, adding other areas of lipo only minimally increases the cost of the procedure. This is my honest assessment and I hope it helps you.
If anything miraculously changes in the next few months I will update here, but I'm not proceeding with further Kybella treatments and will likely move forward with lipo in the fall if I'm still a candidate after having received the 2 Kybella treatments.

Yes it definitely DOES help. Thanks! Your background sounds like mine, very minimal submental fat and not overweight at all, and plastic surgeon recommended trying Kybella. It sounded way too expensive for uncertain results that I was told might still leave me with loose skin which then might need to be treated by laser, and that a laser procedure still might leave me "hanging". I'll ask about lipo when I consult the plastic surgeon again. If you decide on that route, I hope you will post before/after pics.

I'm wondering where you had your treatment done? I'm looking for clinics in Toronto that isn't a Beauty Bar Laser Clinic (I had 1x session Kybella there about a year ago with no results).
Thanks for sharing your experience. We hope you find support in the community.
