18 month update

WORTH IT$3,500
HW: 200lbs
SW: 196lbs
CW: 147lbs
GW: Who knows!

I can’t believe it’s been over a year and a half since I’ve had my gastric sleeve. Time passes by so quickly!! The first two months were the hardest and the longest. Now the time is just melting away. I can eat and drink now only if I have a very small quantity of food otherwise I still wait about 45-60 minutes to drink after a regular size meal. I have to or I would get sick. Yup at 18 months out I still get nauseous & vomit if I eat a meal and try to drink after. My portions are still small. Carbs are still hard on my stomach obviously not as bad as before but I can’t eat carbs and drink. Fish like salmon still goes down the easiest. I can have a salmon filet and a glass of wine at the same time!! However chicken, steak, etc still sits heavily on my stomach along with carbs. Sweets & coffee run my belly badly so I avoid them.. no cake, cookies, cupcakes, etc. I’m really happy with my weight and I dont want to lose anymore.. I just want to tone at this point! However all things considered I have nothing much to complain about... everywhere slimmed down and I didnt lose all my butt or breast. In fact I’m slim thick! If I had any cons at all it’d be not getting a single incision through the belly button which I qualified for given my age, weight, and health history. I have 4 incisions and all of them have keloid. I asked Dr. M about it but he didnt do it. Knowing what I know now I would have paid a bit more and went a surgeon who does the single incision!

So I’m well over a year out from surgery. Loving my new body. I do see I need to get to the gym and do some toning up the more inches I lost. My size 6 jeans and pants are loose on me. I really don’t want to go down to a 4 so I’m going to really try to start strength training. What really made me write this update tho is something that happened to me a week ago. I went out to dinner with some friends well as we were walking out the restaurant I felt very queasy. I started spitting which is always the first sign of overindulgence with the gastric sleeve. Well I get into the car to go home and proceeded to throw my WHOLE ENTIRE stomach contents up about 5 mins after we started driving. I was in the passenger seat.. thank god for the bag with my leftovers. Honestly it was my fault. I pushed my limits and ate waay too much at dinner. I tested my limits and quickly found them. I can eat as much as I want now except carbs.. bread, fries, etc r still tough on my stomach. The only thing is I can eat as much as I want and have to wait at least an hour to drink or I can have 4-6 oz and drink 15 mins later. I am still not able to truly drink and eat. I’m okay with that. It limits how much I eat!!

Thank you for checking in. I go through the same actions after I eat collard greens that have not been cut up good. Also, if I eat pasta too much. I went to dinner yesterday and ate as much clams and crabs with no side effects.
yes i have no problems with seafood and most meat... it’s the carbs that are the problem!!!
Seafood goes down really easy except shrimp and carb for some reason. Steak & poultry no problems but ground beef is still tough on my pouch. I stick to steamed veggies n proteins.. they go down the easiest with no problems!!
Should we expect another update with you soon? My year anniversary is August 18. Starting weight 201-203lbs. Current weight 135lbs stand 5'5. I have yet to start doing squats and building muscles.
damn, that's awesome; we want to limit the carbs anyways, so good to hear :)

One year Anniversary

HW: 200lbs

Today is my one year sleeve anniversary. I simply can’t believe it’s been a year! Time goes by so quickly. I can eat about 6-8 oz now, a small plate of food essentially. I have stuck to the principles I learned in the beginning! I still wait at least 30 mins after eating to drink! If I don’t I’ll get sick! I drink sparkling water and coffee. I can eat stuff like fried chicken and chips. The thing that helps me maintain my weight is not indulging in those things really. I have come to far to go back. I’m sure as time goes on I’ll be able to eat more and maybe even eat & drink at the same time. That’s why it’s so important to eat the right things!! I’m proud of myself for sticking to healthy eating habits!! I do cardio maybe 1-2x a week. The gym has been my weakness. Really havent been able to stick with a fitness routine.

Congrats on your 1 year sleeve anniversary!! I have been anticipating your updates on real self. I thank you for sharing your story with us who are inspired by your journey. I am currently down to 138lbs which at this point I want to start building my muscle back. From the last time we spoke on real self, my goal was to at least join a gym.. which I did. My next step is now to actually start working out.
Thanks so much for your kind words and congratulations on your weight loss!! Im so proud of you for joining that gym, that was the first step. I struggle with working out as well but it’s something we have to do at least to a certain extent to reach our full health potentials!! SHOW LE
