Protein, protein...

So, I got my Unjury Starter pack yesterday. The first flavor I tried was Chocolate Splendor in milk, and while it smells like a cup of Swiss Miss hot chocolate, it was way too sweet for my tastes. I read the back and it has 3g of sugar per packet. Thankfully my chocolate Premier Protein shakes arrived today, and even though they are room temperature I am drinking one now. It also tastes quite a bit like Swiss Miss, but isn't nearly as sweet. So in the chocolate department, I would definitely say that Premier Protein wins. I need to try the other Unjury flavors, but the vanilla and strawberry both have 3g of sugar, so I'm afraid I might find them too sweet as well.

Anyways, I am trying to take my vitamins regularly. I forgot once or twice, but I am doing okay over all.

Trying to be healthier.

I am experimenting with what my post-op diet should be like. I made a yummy crust less quiche the other night, packed with cheese and ham to make it high protein. I bought gummy vitamins today, and I'm going to try taking those regularly. I bought biotin a few days ago because I want to minimize hair shedding post-op.

I already have a gym membership through my school, though I don't use it like I should. I bought a Costco membership so I can buy Premier Protein shakes online ($19.99/18 pack, plus free shipping). I ordered the Unjury starter pack as I've heard good things from other RealSelfers.

What other things do you wish you'd tried before surgery? Or what changes are you making?

Insurance answers and anticipation

Today I received a call from the local doctor's office. They told me that my plan excluded bariatric coverage, and the consultation would be $174. I cancelled my appointment.

On the bright side, as I was expecting this to happen, last week I scheduled my surgery with A Lighter Me. I got the surgery date I wanted, and I sent my sister money to get her passport. In a few days she should be able to secure the days off that she would need to accompany me to Tijuana. My deposit has been paid to ALM, and now all that's left to do is wait until I begin my pre-surgery diet. I chose to go through Dr. Elias Ortiz.

I'm excited to begin my journey to a healthier life.
