Changed my Life...for the Better! - Tijuana, MX

I am a 48yr old married woman living in Oregon with one adult son. I became increasingly unhappy with my face and body which was affecting my marriage, other relationships, and my self esteem. I exercise, eat right, and take care of myself, but it seemed the weight would not budge! I weighed approximately 170lbs and was wearing a size 10/12. I felt uncomfortable wearing a swimsuit, shorts, fitted t shirts. I refused to have my picture taken many times. And when I did have my picture taken, I usually became depressed after seeing it. I was invited to go rafting down the river, but I felt uncomfortable due to my size. My thin "friend" said, "Hurry up! Tanned fat looks better than white fat."
That was me. I was the "Fat Friend". I was the one sitting in the corner hoping no one would notice me.
My face was looking like I was old, tired, unhappy. I had jowels hanging down. My neck was saggy and wrinkled. The ultimate "turkey neck". My stomach had rolls of fat that I could never get rid of.
So I decided to change! I researched plastic surgeons in Mexico and Oregon and received quotes from stateside surgeons. I contacted CosMed Clinic in Tijuana. Dr. Quiroz and his staff responded quickly and efficiently. They requested pics to give an accurate quote and spoke to us on the phone. The quote was FAR LESS than stateside quotes, and FAR MORE helpful!! Within a month I had an appointment for my expected surgeries...Facelift, Necklift, Liposuction.
There were multiple conversations from Christine and Ana (Patient Coordinators) to ensure smooth traveling. My husband and I were picked up at the San Diego Airport promptly and taken to the Marriott Hotel nearby. Christine made all the arrangements. I met with Dr. Quiroz the next morning.
That day changed me. Dr. Quiroz handed me a mirror and asked what I wanted to change about my face. He really listened to me, and made some suggestions. He told me I have a very small chin and jaw line which does not hold up my skin adequately. There wasn't enough bone and it was genetic. In referring to my neck, I had very low hanging glands which made me look like I had double chins. My body needed liposuction, but also I required a tummy tuck to be finally rid of the fat rolls! I learned that rolls are loose skin and cannot be exercised away. I never felt judged, inferior, or ugly. He was supportive, informative, and really cared!
I underwent a 6 hour surgery in the same building with absolutely no complications. The first night I stayed in the Surgical Center. For the next 2 nights my husband and I stayed in the Boutique Suites upstairs. They are nice! Like a fancy bedroom with 2 beds and 24/hr nursing care. I felt pampered. It was essential and I don't understand why more stateside facilities do not offer that kind of care. It was wonderful having a nurse available.
On the last day we met with Dr. Quiroz who checked my incisions and went over removal of my stitches and additional after procedure care.
For the first month after the procedure, Dr. Quiroz and his Staff were very attentive and requested photos to ensure I was healing appropriately. Any questions we had were answered promptly. There was NEVER a language barrier.
Happy to say 6 weeks after my surgery my husband and I vacationed in Puerto Vallarta. I wore a bikini for the first time in years and loved it!! I am a size 4/6 with the confidence of a 25yr old. When talking to new people for the first time, I usually get, "How old ARE you?" No one believes that I am 48. Most guess I am in my late 20's/early 30's.
In conclusion, yes, I had plastic surgery to enhance my body. Yes, I had a facelift, a necklift, a tummy tuck, and liposuction. But the biggest enhancement was my self-esteem and confidence. It's what's on the inside that counts! Dr. Quiroz gave me both.
