I'm having smart lipo done in Tijuana with dr. Alfredo Harris in 3 days. He is a friend of my brothers and I trust him with my surgery. Anyone else had smart lipo with him that can share their experience. I think I'm prepared and have packed all necessary items for recovery in Mexico for 5-7 days. I'm not worried about pain, cuz I'm pretty tough. My biggest concern has always been scarring. I have told only a few people about this surgery and only a couple family members.

Thank you for the well wishes. The last 24 hours have been slightly brutal but I'm just now, starting to feel like myself again. My surgery was yesterday and I got my back, bra fat, arms and stomach, including my love handles done. It was done under general anesethic which explains the tough 24 hours. I got a spinal block and was awake when he did part of the back, but then was out under general to do the rest. I'm not sure why he did this, as it's been a [RS bleep] to recover from the anesethic. All the other reviews I've read, the person has been awake and I think it ultimately helped with recovery. First night was nausea, throwing up water, and super out of it and couldn't stay awake. I also bleed through fresh blood into the hotel sheets after I put a blanket down on the bed. Needless to say were getting rid of this. I do not recommend going all the under for these reasons. I showed today and am planning on wearing my garment for the next 4 weeks. Next time I take it off to shower I'll post after photos. My stomach looks good and love handles are bye bye. I'm very black and blue and pretty sore, but nothing an extra strength Tylenol can't fix. Feel like a bad sunburn but I'm ok. Thank you for all those that have reached out. This site is wonderful.

Thank you for your kind thoughts. I love that we have this forum to vent and express our experiences. It helps tremendously when going through this. Today is the 2nd day post op, and I'm black and blue all over. I was so good about taking the arnica before my surgery but it didn't really seem to help. Also I think I was taking the little pellets that dissolve under your toungue and not the big pills that you need to swallow. Nonetheless, I'm not sure it's helping. Just got out of the shower and got another look at my new body. It's scary to look at yourself and see a new you. My belly button seems higher up, which is crazy. I have ripples in my skin which I guess is swelling and my arms are definitely saggy but I know this is all part of the process. I feel like I need to lay flat so that everything seems soft and smooth but obviously certain positions are more comfortable and allow for the body to be contorted. For now, I'm still staying down with an occasional walk around the hotel. Hope I'm not being too lazy. All other reviews I've read, people have been out and about running errands. Not me, I'm relaxing. Maye necessary considering I was under general anesthetic. Well that's all I got for now.

Miserable in compression garment
L1976September 19, 2014
So it's early Friday morning, like 2am early. I had my surgery Monday morning under general anesethic. Before I got on a plane today I saw my ps and he said he is extremely please with the results of my surgery and said my skins elasticity is better then anyone's he's seen. He said my compression garment could be tighter and suggested to get it taken it by a seamstress because it's a leotard that I spent a lot of money on. The problem is, I am miserable in my garment. It's so tight that it pains me. I can't sleep because my gut is squished so tight, that sometimes it's hard to take a breathe. He said this is key to my recovery and having the skin tighten. I am still swollen and I'm sure everyday the swelling goes down, but I'm still miserable. Not sure what to do. It hasn't even been a week and I've got 2 more weeks to go wearing the garment 24/7. Suggestions/advice please. I need to have a garment for my waiste and my arms. My arms need a lot more tightening.

Different doctors have very different policies regarding post-operative compression. I would ask that question of the doctors here on RealSelf. It's a very valid question, and very important. Because if the garment is too tight for you to eat or sleep properly, you won't be able to heal well either. Do you know how to ask a question in the Q&A section? Let me know if not and I'll give you a link.
