Determined to Be Fit and Forty - Mexico

ORIGINAL POST

I turn 40 this upcoming December and I am so...

fat2fit
I turn 40 this upcoming December and I am so frustrated with yo yo dieting. I had my sweet baby girl 3 years ago and have struggled to lose all the baby weight. I am having my procedure with Dr. Ariel Ortiz in September. I am so anxious to have the procedure and start my new fitness journey. My BMI is lower. I am 5'10" and 215lbs. Most will probably say just work out and get to your goal. However I have been on the journey 3 years and I want results. I don't want this to be my lifelong battle. I want a lifestyle change that can be easily embraced because I will see results! Stay tuned! The journey is just beginning!!!!!

Hi F2F - I made the same decision when I turned 50. Like you, my BMI was lower than most surgical patients as I was 5'9" and about 215lbs. You will be so happy :) My surgery was 9/10/15 and by May I was in Mexico on the beach in a bikini wearing a size 10 and weighing 145lbs. Life is good! Keep up with strength training as I credit much of my success to doing this 3x/week. Best of luck to you!

I am so nervous!!! I love hearing stories from people like yourself that had a low BMI and decided on the procedure. Congratulations on your success!!! It is reassuring and lets me know I am making the right decision.

I posted very regularly in the beginning, so there's lots of detail in my story. I'm going to do a one-year post with pics. I just went shopping this evening at a resale store that sells a lot of designer and nicer close (I usually shop at Kohl's or Target because I rarely go anywhere). I must have tried on about 30 things and brought home 20. It's so fun to start shopping for the new winter wardrobe! Don't worry at all about the Mexico thing, either - I've also gone their for a hair transplant prior to the sleeve and had a great experience with that, too. it's all good!

Pre-Op Diet

fat2fit
I am currently 215lbs and I'm really afraid I will not meet my surgery goal of 200lbs. I am not dieting right now. I am actually splurging quite often. I will start my 2 week liquid pre-op soon and I'm hoping I can drop some significant weight then. I don't want my surgery delayed for any reason. I see so many people that don't even have a pre-op diet. However, I want the safest possible surgery so I will comply. Oh the struggle!!!

Giving up alcohol ????

fat2fit
I am not a heavy drinker! Just like to get tipsy socially. I'm so afraid I won't be able to indulge anymore. Would love any feedback on personal experiences. I have read about the risks of alcoholism and you get buzzed quicker. However I just want to hear real life experiences.

You will have to pace yourself for sure. It's totally different for both my mom and sister. I haven't had the surgery. My mom is a borderline alcoholic now due to her behavior. She is intoxicated after a few SIPS.
