WORTH IT
I had excessive wrinkling around my mouth, deep lines on my face, tired and heavy under eye bags, overly hollow upper eyelids due to a bad upper bleph and looked much older than my age of 57. I was embarrassed to be seen without makeup, hated myself in photos and over 15 years I've had several procedures including dermabrasion, Blue Obaji peel, Juvederm injections, Upper Bleph, Restylane injections and Sculptra injections and none of them lasted, were worth the down time or gave results that lasted - and I spent a lot of money for little to no results. I spent a couple of years looking through Real Self reviews and kept coming back to chemical peel patients and specifically the patients of Dr. Richard Bensimon and their experiences and recoveries with his Bensipeel which really is a miracle peel. I had a FaceTime consultation with him in the summer of 2019 and he said I was a good candidate for his Bensipeel but for better results that he recommended that facial fat transferring be done with the peel and I had my procedure done in September 2019. Dr. Bensimon is a very kind and caring man and his staff are amazing as well. I came to Portland from So. California and had made the decision that I wanted to heal and recover on my own. Dr. Bensimon recommended the Marriott Residence Inn Pearl District hotel as being very close to his office and said that the hotel staff were used to having his out of town patients stay there. The hotel was a great choice and I spent 13 nights in a large beautiful room with a kitchen and gorgeous views. Dr. Bensimon encourages holistic healing for best results and I had delicious cold pressed juices delivered by the Portland Juice Company throughout my stay, I started drinking organic bone broth and as recommended I had no bread, pasta, processed foods or dairy products for the first month. Dr. Bensimon's office helped arrange a caregiver for me for the first 24 hours after my procedure and she was kind and caring. I was sedated during the procedure and never had any pain. For the first 24 hours I had bandages and returned to the office the next day and the bandages were removed and a green bismuth mask was applied to my face. I looked like Shrek. I wore a baseball hat and a scarf to protect my face from the sun and curious people. I took it easy the first few days and then ventured out walking and shopping as my energy returned. The mask started coming off after several days and when I went back for another appointment with Dr. Bensimon I was given a vaseline / aquaphor type product to put on my face for several hours and then to gently let water touch my face and over a couple of days the rest of the mask came off. Not washing my hair for many days was unpleasant but I was alone and it really didn't matter. Dr. Bensimon had said that swelling from the fat transfer would last 2-3 weeks and then settle and that was my experience. Dr. Bensimon has a line of skin care products that I love including a tinted sunscreen that I usually wear in place of foundation (hurray for not wearing a foundation most days!) I used to be prone to breakouts and was initially concerned about the moisturizers and creams but I haven't broken out and Dr. Bensimon said that if I followed his anti-inflammation nutrition protocol of bone broth, cold pressed juices, organic chicken, eggs, and vegetables (along with lots of water) and omitted dairy products, processed foods and bread products that my skin would heal beautifully and my collagen would continue to build and it has. I had one minor freak out when I was back home and I was at a Sephora store 2 1/2 weeks post peel and was trying out a couple of different kinds of makeup for an upcoming event and my skin turned red and felt swollen and hot. It was nighttime and I drove home and washed my face, took Benadryl and texted Dr. Bensimon and let him know what happened and he called me right away and assured me everything would be okay and it was. Another thing to note is that sun exposure needs to be minimal especially the first month - I could feel reflected sun exposure from sitting outside (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and umbrella) watching a sporting event and my skin turned red and tender like a sunburn. I'm two months post fat transfer and peel and I'm so grateful for the Real Self community for everyone's stories and for helping me to find Dr. Richard Bensimon. The Bensipeel and fat transfer were totally worth it and I highly recommend Dr. Richard Bensimon.

Wow, dramatic results. This is better than a plastic surgery. Glad you took care of yourself during healing process. There aren’t too many doctors that do this kind of peel.

Thank you eccomiatsf for your comment and I agree with you that there aren't that many doctors who do deep peels like this.

I also liked his dietary advice after care, which is so spot on and essential. Now please stay out of the sun. You’ve been given a wonderful gift!

You look absolutely wonderful. Did you have a general anaesthetic for the fat transfer and where was it taken from please? I am in the U.K. but would be interested for some idea of the cost.

Thank you Powerful for your comment. I had sedation for the fat transfer and peel. The fat was taken from my stomach and thighs. The cost in U.S. dollars was around $14,000.
