Dr. Kouros Azar performed my profound RF procedure...

WORTH IT$4,500
Dr. Kouros Azar performed my profound RF procedure in his office. It was easy with little pain. The procedure does require a lot of injections to numb the area, but this is absolutely the only pain, even in recovery. I am very pleased with the experience of the procedure (my doctor and his staff are experts at injections) and the recovery is going smoothly. I have swelling and bruising... the amount of my under the chin bruising could be attributed to the fact I am currently on a blood thinner medication. Even if excessive, I don't find it alarming at all. My recovery should take a week. I will update after recovery at one week, one month, three months and six (which should see the max benefits from the procedure) For the ability to get a 50% result of a true facelift surgery... I am more than willing to wait the suggested time for results! I am a 47 yr old female, with extra fat under my chin and my jowls beginning to sag. The hope is this tightens those areas and gives me a more youthful appearance without under going surgery.

My videos, which tell the story best didn't upload to site and I can only add pictures now. I've improvised by screen grabbing from the videos, as I believe it's very important to see what to do expect post procedure. The biggest feat is the wait to see the results! Here's a glimpse what to expect in the immediate post op and I will continue to update through the transformation as the results start to show.
I've already had a post procedure visit (because Dr Azar is so awesome and wants to be sure his patients are doing well after) and he switched me from Aquaphor to Cetaphil. This won't clog my pores and I must wash 3-4 times a day and keep the area moist. I also was given a chin strap to wear four hours at a time which I'm convinced is helping with the swelling a lot.

One week post procedure

Well... here we are at the suggested down time end, and I'd have to say if I didn't have my bruising going on under my chin due to the blood thinner, I'd say that is accurate. (Luckily it's oddly cold here in Southern California so a scarf hides it well!) My skin is still splotchy and not very even toned yet, but make up covers it easily now (I'm wearing no makeup below my cheeks in these pics) I can tell I'm still swollen, but I'm also menstruating... so I will post pics in one week to see a true difference. I will also give a YouTube link for anyone wishing to see a video blog as I get more detailed since I thought I could post videos in update.

Overall, the procedure is simple, quick and little complications possible. If you've ever been exposed or have cold sores, you need to take a seven day regiment of Valtrex. (Apparently this treatment might aggravate or bring them out) My doctor is conservative and put me on them just in case. I finished those today as well.

After a week, the only slightly down side is the pain of the needles that numb you before the procedure. If that concerns you, ask your doctor for some meds to calm you for the procedure. I had Valium and it was exactly what I needed to curb the worry of pain. Now I'm aware that the pain is very minimal... but it's hard to describe before you experience yourself.

I'm anxious for all the swelling to dissipate, I'm anxious to see my once smooth and even toned skin return, and looking forward to comparing pics post procedure at three and six months. :-) I'm a tad tired of obsessing over my face because now I've seen my profile in way too many pics and thinking I might be reviewing a nose job soon :-) :-)

Oh!!! And while results come slowly... I swear I already feel "tighter"! Cheers!

Hi thanks for sharing your experience with Profound. I'm interested in having it done but was told the results would only last two years. Did your doctor tell you how long it would last. Your cost seem high, I was quoted 2000 for my lower face and neck.

My cost was actually $4500, $6k was the quote for LA surgeons. Please recall I'm in LA suburb. Dr. Azar is fair and always charges less... I couldn't figure out how to change it. Honestly $2k scares me.... I've had issues before, please make sure you go to a really awesome highly recommended doctor. Ask if they will give you Excel laser treatments for any skin hyperpigmentation or charge you another $1k for that... I've had three lazer treatments for my chin bruising for all inclusive.

As for results, if you are of a heathy lifestyle and take care of yourself (no smoking, drinking etc and have a good skin regimen) you should get 3-5 years before age takes over again. That's awesome considering no surgery. Honestly the texture of my skin alone was worth the $4500! I will post an updated 5 week follow up pic and already the change is evident. I'm excited for three months and up to six to see final results!

Thank you for your response. The person I saw said it would give you a 37.5 percent of a mini lift would give you. She said it would not give much of a lift on the marionette lines. From your picture it doesn't appear that you have any marionette lines. The person I saw must be pretty good because she is usually booked two months out.

I have another quick question; did you notice any lose of fat where the profound was performed. From reading here on RealSelf that some these lasers can cause fat lose.

There are two tools... he used the one that melts fat under my chin and you can see after five weeks in my next update it's already melting away. That tool goes deeper. And I bruised more. The tool used all other places only goes into skin and does not melt fat. You don't want fat to melt off face... it keeps us younger looking. Just the neck.
My doctor says this procedure is about 50-60% of facelift effects, so not sure we are comparing apples. Especially with her low costs. Good luck!!! :-)

Again thank you for your response. The Syneron, maker of Profound, website states a 37 percent improvement in skin laxity. We are all different so it would be individual specific. If you look at Mtmuscle's review reply to my inquire said he had a full face witch cost 5000 but for lower face was 2000. He is in San Francisco.
