Oh honey, words can't explain how happy/thrilled/pleased I am with my arms....on a daily basis. Choose a great Dr., wrap for longer than needed....just to keep the pressure off the scar area (so it doesn't stretch open/wider). Use silicone sheets and then gel. Guaranteed it will be worth every MINUTE of the first 6+ months...and be patient....it takes 2 years for the scars to heal and the redness to go away. Someone asked me if my arms are 'perfect'. My answer was, "No, not perfect, but PERFECT for me!!" Be sure to update me if you go ahead with this amazing surgery. SURE glad my posting has helped....that's why it's there!! :) ep

I had my arms done too last year. I can't tell you how amazing it is to fit my arms into ALL sleeves. I am having laser done to make the scars invisible. I too have perfect incisions but I want the red to go away quickly. I had fraxel laser to smooth and V beam to take the red out. Ill need additional Vbeam next month and prob one more for invisible. Go for it. I used ace bandages rather than a garment for a LONG time. I am excited for you!

I might eventually. I did my legs last year and it was a pretty major ordeal but I'm very happy with it now. Not sure yet about the arms.

I've had inner thighs done as well....scaring is not so neat and tidy...even with scar revision. To reduce 'ropeness' on the one leg we used 'steroid'...which did the trick, but widened the scar. Revision was done perhaps too soon... wonder if some of the steroid 'residue' was still in the area as the same section stretched to a wider scar. However, still pleased overall. :) ep

Also, did you find the arms less painful than your legs? Which one was easier to recover from?

Sorry I missed this post! My profile was locked for almost a year. However, in reference to cost....I'm not really sure! I had other upper body surgery done at the same time and it kinda got all lumped together....same 'sleep' fees etc. One thing I can say about The Landing's Clinic in Halifax, NS, you pay $100 consult fee and come away totally informed on A) what CAN be done, B) Dr. Bendor-Samuel's straight forward opinion on expected results and C) the cost to do so. Well worth the time and $$ to do your homework! This site helped BIG TIME in finding the right Dr! That's why I post...to help others! :) ep

I read all your posts and what a great story and fabulous arms as well. I had my arms done 10/18 and I need your post surgical experience. Placement on my incisions is exactly like yours and my incisions are clean as well. My prob is that Im experiencing burning, pins n needles also and wrapping 23.5 hrs in aces a day. Im only 1 month PO. Im just really feeling fed up with the PO discomfort. Any thoughts? I really shouldn't be complaining as this surgery went off without a hitch but Im so uncomfortable!

Oh honey, hang in there!! Yes, the burning is very aggravating and the 'puckers' are VERY frustrating as we really want the doc to simply pull out a magic wand and give it a wave!! The pins and needles/burning sensation are the nerve endings I understand. This went away after a YEAR! You kinda just get used to it. The puckering will go away as the stitches dissolve....but not an instant 'wand wave'. At this stage just be VERY careful not to lift or 'pop a stitch'. I also remember getting wrapped too tight one day....oh my, my fingers were so puffed I could hardly type..(had to make an emergency run to my husband's work place and we took over the unisex washroom for a rewrap!! What a laugh!!) Again, I wrapped for 10 weeks....just to be super careful and trying to ensure I would have the best scars possible. The silicone gel started right after the compression sleeves. Ask, but I think you can start that much sooner with the silicone gel sheets (cut into strips) under your wraps. Think about a year down the road and then stay focused!! I LOVEEEE my arms and feel very privileged to have them look like they do!! :) ep

SO Im going to experience this burning, pins n needles for about a year? If so i BETTER just surrender to the feeling and get on with things. Ill continue to wrap, glad I did this in the Fall. A year????

oh my, I 'm laughing but it's really not funny....yes, for me it was a year...but it lessens as time goes by. Besides, you'll get sooooooo excited about how your arms look that you won't even feel it at....unless you stop and think about it!! Even if you doooo still feel anything, it will be ABSOLUTELY worth it!! Cheers! ep

What IS the point of these ace bandages then? I thought these feelings in my arms were from swelling? This reality hasn't lifted my spirits. It hurts and want it to stop. A biting tingly discomfort.

C5
November 16, 2016
I understand the ace bandages keep the strain off the incision AND helps control the swelling in the area that is bound...both are for the same result....to help the incision heal with the least possible stress that would make the scar wider. You will want the narrowest/tidiest scar possible in the end. The tingling and biting are the cut nerve endings kicking up a racket. They take time to settle down. Again, I have no professional opinion....just my understanding from what I've read and questions I've asked. Try to keep focused on the big picture! :)

I had these nerve issues after a non surgical meaning just lipo,10 years ago. It was much worse way back then. I was in agony. So now again Im suffering , not as badly as 10yrs ago, and it was surgery w incision this time. Im not sure what this nerve issue is all about. Im seeing the PS tomo and Ill find out. Ty for explaining the reason for wearing the ace bandages. Yes my incision is very thin so Ill follow your lead and continue to wear them 99.9% of the day. I do massage them once a day. It seems to help with the nerve pain and burning, temporarily.

Perfect! I'd love to hear what you learn today from your PS. The scars do widen a bit once the stitches are dissolved, and in my case, I developed some red 'ropey' sections which eventually got broken down with the strip (sheet) and then gel silicone. Looking forward to hearing from you!! :) ep

I saw the PS and i am cleared on the left arm. I need a small revision ( on the right) Jan 6th, and then have to start all over again healing that incision and waiting until April for right arm laser. UGH Im feeling Ill never get ahead of this. Im going to start laser on the left arm in January as well. Bought a scar gel that he wants me to use. I have no ropey incisions, yet. Healing will take up many many months. Im worried that this setback wont have me sleeveless ready come June, which is really disappointing me. Ill post some pics soon.

Perfect...would love to see pics! As for sleeveless in June...oh yes, get that in your mind now. 2017 won't be as awesome as 2018, but girl, be mighty proud you went ahead with the surgery and celebrate it...whether or not others understand or comment!! After 2 years if anyone comments that my scars look great, I simply ask "What scars?" They truly mean nothing to me.... Before the 2 year mark, I simply said, "Oh, they're still in progress!" Not a moment of regret on ANY of my surgeries...and always use the 85% rule to be realistic. Hmmmm...I'd love to see why you need a revision. :) ep
