I tell this story...not because it is MY story,...
WORTH IT
I tell this story...not because it is MY story, but because it is a story worth telling! Imagine a 200 lb 12 year old with arms etc stretched out of shape for the rest of your life (other areas too but this is about my arms). Imagine your daughter's wedding in the near future and you need a dress. With an 'A' shape figure (size 14 -16 on the top and 18 on the bottom) it is impossible to walk into a shop and pick a dress off the rack. So, "custom order online" you say....well, when custom ordering, because of the flabby arms, you don't want to choose a sleeveless dress, and guess what... they don't ask arm size when custom ordering...so impossible to fit the big flabby arms into any 'custom order' dress!
Well, Feb 4th changed all this. One of the procedures I had done was the Arm Lift and have been super delighted with the results. First off, the incisions were put in a perfect spot, and on a curve..... you can't see them from the front, rear, or side profile. They are only visible if I were to put my arms in the air directly in front of you! Awesome, awesome placement Dr. Bendor-Samuel! I think success with an arm lift starts with the doc, but continues with the aftercare. In my case, I wrapped for 10 weeks and compression sleeved for 3 additional weeks. The scars are minimal, and have been treated with gel silicone and are currently still flattening out with 'sheet' silicone. Sooooo pleased!!
Back to the story... :)..... The wedding day was a magical day....(August 9th)... my daughter's day..., however I was soooo proud of my 'custom ordered' Mother-of-the-Bride dress that fit perfectly....the wee jacket could easily been taken off and thrown to the side to 'show off' even more....but it was HER day, not mine!! Because of additional ps work done at the same time as my arms, I didn't even need to wear a bra (nor did I!! ). So folks, if you are thinking about an arm lift....go for it!! Dr Bendor Samuel (The Landings, Halifax, NS)....now dubbed 'King of Arms' in my mind, is a great place to start! :) ep

Before and after pics as requested
Before pics were taken Nov 2013. After pics are 9 months post op. I understand it takes up to 2 years for the red color to dissipate...however, I am very pleased with the results so far! :) ep

1 Year pics !! ~Arm Lift
Not sure why pics always seem to appear more 'red' than real life, but these will do for 12 months post op. So far, so good... continue to use 'sheet' silicone at night and 'tube' silicone by day. Tried stopping the silicone treatment at approx 11 months, but red ropeyness (don't think there is such a word, but you get the idea lol), started coming back... also a slight burning sensation. Small tradeoff for the new arms I am enjoying! Happy life !! :) ep

Do you feel that your scars will show more improvement or is this your final result?
February 26, 2015
Oh hell ya they will improve! This was taken one week post op but it's funny the other side is healing faster.

Hi SunnyWest, love the word sunny right now....could use some Sunny South! Lol Oh yes, the scars will get better. It takes up to 2 years for arm lift scars to settle. There is always the option of laser treatment to take out the redness if it doesn't simply leave because it's not wanted!! I'll hold off for another 6 months or so, then size it up and do a bit more research on laser options if needed. Thanks for asking.... sincerely, ep

I am six months out, and my scars are finally starting to see some real changes. I'm happy for the results and am trying to come to peace with the scars.

Your arms look great! Congratulations!
I am scheduled for brachioplasty May 22...I'm so excited I can hardly stand it! How was the recovery? When were you comfortable going out? Driving?

March 19, 2015
Hmmmm, when was I comfortable???.... that's a good question because I really didn't spend any time thinking about it! I REALLY wanted to make SURE I didn't do any damage (i.e pop any stitches), so I had my friend drive me to work for 1/2 days for week 3 of post op. I was very careful not to open the heavy doors myself or even reach very far to close my own vehicle door while driving in week 4. It wasn't really the discomfort, it was more being careful! Right from the beginning there was awesome range (no webbing) in both armpits....very thankful for a Really Brilliant Surgeon. Sooooo excited for you!!!! Be sure to post!! :) ep
