From the consultation to the operation, I felt like I was taken really seriously and everyone at the clinic was invested in making sure I was comfortable and informed. The nurses and staff were available to answer any questions I had. And I had a lot! Dr. Bendor-Samuel was funny, and calm, and was so careful to explain every step to me before the surgery. And I was very nervous, so that helped so much. The whole team there is fantastic. I’m only two days out of the operation, but I’m not in very much pain compared to what I thought it would be like. Thanks painkillers! Breasts are still high and hard, I went with 375 HP smooth implant from Mentor. I’m 5’3 and around 120 pounds. I think the size suits my frame and once they drop and fluff, I think they’ll be perfect. I will update with photos when I’m allowed to remove the compression bra!
I can’t say enough about my entire experience with Dr. Bendor-Samuel and his team at The Landings Surgical Centre. ? I knew I wanted to go to the best in Canada; I’ve been following Dr. Bendor-Samuel’s work for decades, so when it came time for me to have my breast operation, I knew he was the one.? Not only is he an expert and incredibly experienced (and talented) in what he does, his bedside manner is fantastic – from the initial consultation to the one-year post-op checkup. He’s friendly, fun, down-to-earth, positive, and realistic; which made my entire experience enjoyable. ? I should note I had my operation in September 2023 and I followed what Dr. Bendor-Samuel and his team recommended I do, in terms of pre-op and post-op care, for an entire year. (And I am so happy I did.)? I have and will continue to recommend him to anyone who is looking to have a breast reduction, breast lift, etc. Needless to say, I’m delighted with my surgery results and am very grateful to Dr. Bendor-Samuel and his team!
I have wanted to have my stomach fixed for decades now, but it has taken me this long to achieve a balance in life that will allow me to maintain my results. Over the last two years, I’ve lost 40 lbs through diet and exercise, but I needed abdominal muscle repair and removal of excess skin. Breastfeeding and weight loss also affected the volume of my breasts. There was a wait time of 9 months for my consult, but booking the surgery was fairly quick. I had a tummy tuck and breast lift with liposuction, removing 5 lbs. of tissue in all. I didn’t react well to the narcotics so I have been managing the pain using over the counter medications. Overall, it has been more difficult than expected. I am fortunate to have my husband to help me get out of bed and feed me! I’m now two weeks post-surgery and I’m walking around more easily but still not upright. I have quite a lot of swelling, but my stitches look good and I’m hopeful that the results will be great. Updated on 1 Jan 2024: Things appear to be healing well, but I wasn’t prepared for the emotional roller coaster. Don’t kid yourself, this is major surgery and recovery is slow. It’s very frustrating to not be able to lift, bend or reach, and to rely so much on others. Overall, I don’t have a lot of pain, just discomfort. I had hoped to be back at work after 3 weeks, but it looks like I’m taking more time off. Updated on 10 Jan 2024: 4 weeks post-op: The swelling is slowly subsiding so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. My breasts are still really tender and I am having random shooting pain in my nipples. I’m just glad I still have feeling in them, tbh. The abdominal sutures are tolerable now. I’m getting out of bed without too much trouble. I’m still off work for another 2 weeks. My mood is also improving. I was in tears at least once a day for the first three weeks. Some people experience depression after anesthesia, apparently, so perhaps I am one of them? It’s been very frustrating to be inactive and dependent on others. I’m also struggling to be patient with my body and my recovery. Other reviews made me think that my recovery was slow, but I am actually still within the normal range. Updated on 23 Jan 2024: 6 weeks post-op: Doing much better these days. I am back to work (office job), and moving around well. I still need help getting up from a reclining position and I can’t reach up very far, though. It still hurts to sneeze, but it isn’t agony anymore. My breasts are looking more similar now that the swelling is going down. They are not so uncomfortable now. Looking forward to going back to the gym and getting out of compression garments in a couple of weeks! Updated on 10 Feb 2024: I was really looking forward to this milestone. At this point, I was instructed that I could remove the compression garments and return to more or less normal activity. However, I was disappointed. Going without compression for 36 hours resulted in soreness and visible swelling of the upper abdomen. So, I have started wearing the waist garment again, taking it off from time to time (social occasions, etc.). Sex is still uncomfortable, not because of the stitches on my skin, but again where the abdominal wall was repaired. Still hurts to sneeze. I had some stitches protruding from the nipple which have now fallen out, and no more scabs. I still have swelling but it is less uncomfortable now. Overall the result is great. People are commenting on my appearance and I look much better in clothes. I’m looking forward to getting back to the gym. The lack of activity has put on 5 lbs, I think, though I’m retaining some water weight so it’s hard to tell. Updated on 14 Jun 2024: I have reached the 6-month milestone! At this stage, I’m told that this will be a good indication of my final results, with some swelling left to go, and my scars will fade as well. I’m back to normal activity, more or less. Abdominal workouts are minimal, though. The diastasis repair was fairly considerable, so I’m still working toward a full plank. Looking forward to swim season now, and I am enjoying the mall for the first time in years:)
Dr. Bendor-Samuel came highly recommended from friends/family who had work done by him. He is an absolute artist with his work. I am thrilled by the results of the surgery. He is worth every penny ! The staff there was also so lovely. Thank you for an amazing experience. My only regret was not doing this sooner.
From the moment I met Dr. Richard Bendor-Samuel I felt seen and cared for. I had lost over 50lbs and was in desperate need of a tummy tuck due to the rashes that were accruing in my folds of extra skin. He took the time to hear my concerns and was so very kind. The procedure went very well. At one point I had a few concerns and he personally responded to me in a very timely manner. My final checkup solidified just how caring Dr. Bendor Samuel is. He took the time to chat with me and allowed me to feel seen and cared for. I highly recommend seeing him. His work is amazing but more than that he is kind. Also, I want to add that his office staff went above and beyond my expectation a care.
I've known since having my first child at 21 that when I was done having children I would treat myself to a TT. I'm beyond excited to have the stomach I once loved back! I'm pretty confident but my stomach has always been an area of weakness. No matter how much you work out, you can't unstretch skin from pregnancy. Updated on 21 Feb 2023: I'm having a full tummy tuck with muscle repair and lipo to the flanks. I'm currently 155 lbs and 40 years old. I'm super confident except for my stomach. No matter how many sit ups you do, you cannot get rid of excess skin and muscle separation from having babies. Updated on 20 Mar 2023: Currently 13 days post op. I can’t say enough good things about the treatment and care I received at the Landings Surgical Centre in Halifax. This surgery required me to stay over night in their surgical area. From the moment I checked in at 9:30 am, to the moment I left the next morning I was treated like I was their number one priority. I can’t thank the nurses, anesthesiologist, and of coarse Dr Bendor-Samuel enough for my experience. I was so nervous and they calmed my anxiety and patiently answered all my questions. Dr Bendor-Samuel is an artist! When I took my drains out on day 7 and finally got to see my new belly I cried. It’s been 20 years since I’ve looked at my stomach and smiled. My only regret is not doing this 5 years ago. Updated on 20 Mar 2023:
31F. I've been researching and wishing for a BBL since I was 18. I have always been self conscious about my shape or lack there of. I have larger chest and had no hips, and no booty. My underwear would fall down inside my jeans. I was worried I wouldn't get much with with my results as I was smaller in stature but Dr Bendor Samuel did his thing and I'm more than satisfied with the results so far. It's very natural looking, just a regular ol butt! I went for a consultation in the winter of 2021 and scheduled surgery for March 28 of this year. Surgery was smooth sailing and recovering wasn't as bad as I had expected. The worst part of it all is not being able to sit and having to sleep face down. I didn't have much fluid draining, after three massages from nurses no fluid came out. Pain was manageable with Tylenol and ibuprofen the second week. I still have numbness in areas where liposuction was performed and some areas are incredibly tender four weeks post op...not sure if that is normal or not. My confidence has skyrocketed and I have never felt so beautiful and comfortable in my own skin. Thank you Dr Bendor Samuel and his incredible team for your hard work. ...will be in touch in the future for a breast reduction and or lift Updated on 28 Apr 2022: Updated on 16 Jan 2024: Incredibly happy with my final results. Recovery was smooth with no issues... took about six months for the swelling and hardness to subside and for my booty to actually feel jiggly. Will be booking a breast reduction with Dr Bendor Samuel in the future
I am a 40(ish) year old mom of two from Nova Scotia, Canada. After years of breastfeeding, my breasts had lost their volume and had become saggy and unattractive (although my husband still thought they were cute ;) I started off as a 34 B and with Dr. Bendor-Samuel's help, I opted for 400cc high profile Mentor silicone implants, under the muscle. I had my surgery done in May (2021) and the whole process was smooth and easy. I am now almost 2 months post-op and feeling and looking great. The pain is completely gone and my breasts are becoming softer every day. My scars are healing very nicely and are already very light in colour as well. Doctor Bendor-Samuel was highly recommended to me by a friend who works as a surgical sales representative. He also was praised by my family doctor for the quality of his work and has, since my surgery, done work on both my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law who fell in love with my results. He is, in my opinion, the best in the Maritimes. I am now a 34 DD and can wear clothes that I could never have worn before. I feel fantastic! Thank you The Landings Surgical Center!
Great experience, Richard was very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had. Surgery went well and I was given all of the information I needed. Just had my post-op check up and everything is healing great and so far so good :)
I am 26 years old and have had two C sections. I was left with the classic “cesarean flap” that I wanted to get rid of. I also have implants that I would like to have removed at a later date, so wanted to do a FT to my breasts at the same time so I am not left with misshapen breasts upon removal. I had a mini TT and lipo to arms, abdomen, flanks, and thighs with FT to breasts. I am only 3 weeks post op but so far I am very pleased with the results and feel he gave me exactly what I asked for. I came to Him with a billion questions and from the get-go he was very upfront and honest about what the procedure would entail and wasn’t shy to tell me what I might not want to hear, which I think is great. The rest of the nurses and staff at the landings are great, and made me feel super comfortable. Overall, awesome experience!
There are many factors to consider. The question should more appropriately be stated as what is the total cost for breast implant surgery. This will vary greatly. In my private surgical centre we offer comfort and privacy for all of our clients. This will come at a higher cost than a less discreet and personal facility. Having said that the most important thing is the experience of the surgeon and the happiness of his or her clients. The cost in Canada for breast augmentation is usually between $8000 and $10,000. Different implant types may affect prices slightly. One should never consider the lowest price as the primary reason to have any surgeon nor would one think that the highest price affords the best results. Experience and safety and your overall comfort are the most important things in choosing a plastic surgeon to perform this important and life changing procedure.
The most important thing is the width of your breast. The best implant base width for you is determined by this measurement. The implant projection is increased to provide more size without increasing the amount of "side breast" which is often an undesirable appearance. Your surgeon should be able to give you guidance with this. Good luck
I generally recommend that patients try to sleep on their back for the first eight weeks while also wearing a supportive bra at all times except showering. Side sleeping will increase unwanted selling and on rare occasion may actually alter the position of a breast implant following a recent surgery. Sleeping on ones tummy should absolutely be avoided in the first 2-3 months. So the advice that i give is to sleep on your back or if need be slightly on your side trying not to displace the breast to the side.
It is important to understand that breast augmentation is a completely elective procedure. As such, you should not add extra risk from an anesthetic if you are sick. If you have a fever and a feel unwell it will likely be advisable to postpone surgery even though it will be disappointing it isn't a bad omen. A mild non productive cough may still allow you to undergo a surgical procedure. Your surgeon and anesthetist will make the decision for you and should always err on the safest thing for you. If surgery has to be postponed always remember that it was in your best interest and will be rescheduled when you have recovered sufficiently. Good luck
Many patients will develop some degree of hardening of the pocket or capsule around their breast implant. This is called capsular contracture. If it is minimal then there is really no need to do anything. If the capsule hardening is bothersome in feel or appearance then it may be desirable to see a plastic surgeon about this issue. Sometimes capsules can be manipulated to soften them but often they require a surgical intervention. An experienced plastic surgeon will be able to tell you if you have a capsular contracture and advise the most appropriate investigations and or treatment.
