I got my procedure done – vaser lipo to arms, thighs, stomach, flanks, portion of the back bra fat area and fat transfer to the buttocks. I went back and forth several times about whether to do the procedure or not since I had zero support from my husband – in fact he was dead against any kind of cosmetic surgery since he thinks its vain and certainly not worth the risk. Also, my parents and sister (she is a doctor) were not for it, yet supported me eventually. In fact my mother stayed with me at the hospital for 2 nights and my parents also took care of me post surgery for about 10 days – including driving me to the hospital (about an hour’s drive from where my parents stay) for 3 post op visits. Other than these people and a very close friend of mine, nobody knows about the surgery.
I had consulted with Dr. Sameer for the first time in April 2016 and finally did it in Jan 2017.
I was really scared and apprehensive about general anaesthesia, but the doctor assured me that that would be the best thing to do instead of local/regional and that everything would be perfectly ok. I came in for the procedure on 5th Jan at 7.30 am, signed the necessary documents and was taken in for surgery. Inside the OT, Dr. Sameer was casually talking and joking with me to calm me down I guess, and before I knew it I was knocked out due to the GA. The next thing I knew was that the doctor was calling out my name asking me to wake up (it seriously seemed like I had been awake only 5 mins prior!). Apparently the surgery had lasted abt 5 hours! I was feeling light headed and nauseous. I vomited several times – the effect of anaesthesia. I was also quite sore – almost my entire body. The nurses were always there to take care of me and came to check on me every 2 hours the night after the surgery. Even Dr. Sameer checked on me on both days and made sure everything was fine. Initially there was no pain, just a lot of soreness. I kept falling in and out of sleep – was feeling quite exhausted. Then I remember suddenly waking up feeling extreme pain in my thighs – was desperately asking them to give me pain killers and they immediately did, through the IV, and after a while the pain was gone and only soreness remained. They also put a catheter (turned out to be very convenient since getting up everytime to go to the bathroom would have been extremely difficult for me for the first 2 days). I was mostly taking liquids for the first 2-3 days, but could not keep much down due to vomiting.
After we returned home, I was still weak and sore and sleeping almost all day long for about 5 days (maybe coz I did several areas in a single procedure). Another thing I experienced was discomfort especially for the first 5 days of not putting pressure on the butt so that the transferred fat cells don’t die. This meant sleeping as far as possible on my stomach or with pillows propped under my back and thighs if sleeping on my back. I also had to sit on soft pillows or something for about 3 weeks. Also for the first 6-8 days I felt a strange kind of pressure on my body (it decreased with every passing day) – maybe it was the pressure exerted on/towards my body by the tight pressure garment and the pressure of the substantial body swelling?!! I do not know. Also had occasional headaches. Urinating after the catheter was removed was troublesome for 2 days or so and passing motion for about 4 days. I was quite constipated initially. After I started eating properly – high fibre foods, it became much better.
The swelling (majority of it was surprisingly in my palms and feet, areas which obviously weren’t lipoed – had swollen to double their original size) and bruising (not much – mostly on inner knee area and some on outer thigh area) – it has almost disappeared now. While at the hospital, I was given antibiotics and pain killers through IV. Later at home I had to take them in pill form for about 5 days or so.
Once I gained some strength after about 5-6 days, I looked at myself in the mirror without the pressure garment …. And I was quite happy with what I saw! I could see my waist was looking more defined and the curve from waist to hips to buttocks is awesome! Stomach also looks smooth and pretty flat – only on the sides I can feel a few small hard lumps and bumps which the doctor said was bits of fat and would reduce and go away with the lymphatic massages – have been recommended about 5 - done with 3 sessions, will be taking another 2 sessions. The incisions are also small and are hidden. They are also fading gradually. My butt looks fuller and more shapely (I had slight depressions on the sides, pre op) and I can see my results getting better and the swelling/bruising going down with every passing day – palms and feet back to normal now. Stomach has maximum swelling. I had also asked the doctor about a fat transfer to the breasts – he had suggested implants instead due to greater reliability and predictability of the latter over the former and that they would give me a very good result. Besides, fat transfer can also lead to problems in detecting cancer on mammograms. But I really wasn’t sure till the last minute coz afterall implants are a foreign body and I read many reviews and saw youtube videos of many women facing all kinds of issues due to implants. So I scrapped the idea of both – fat transfer as well as implants. But yes, my breasts were small as compared to the rest of my body (about a B cup) before the surgery and still look relatively small after, and more so becoz my butt is fuller now. But based on the numerous reviews and videos of women who got implants done, some women face issues within the first 6 months itself, some after 5 or 10 years and some never face any issues at all! It seems like a gamble?!?! Maybe after a year or so I might consider some form of breast augmentation, but I am really not sure.
Unfortunately, I had developed a seroma on the right side of my lower abdomen. Dr. Sameer drained it on the 10th day during the second post op visit and asked me to place a piece of foam inside my garment for added pressure. I had to leave it there for about a week and now the seroma has gone. Dr. Sameer checked it during the third post op visit.
I just feel like a little more could have been taken out from my upper front and upper inner thigh area? Or maybe it’s still too early to tell – the swelling needs to go down still. But everything else is great! I will definitely recommend Dr. Sameer to anyone looking for cosmetic procedures for great results!
I am not comfortable sharing nude pictures on the internet, so will not be putting them up.
Looks like I have written a very long review ... but I did not want to miss out any details :) ....

Thanks for sharing such a detailed review of your experience! Do you have any advice for someone considering Vaser Liposuction?
1) Clearly explain to your doctor what is it that you want. Its important for you to know what is realistically possible before you make your decision. For eg - you can specify how much fat you want removed, or in my case, I wanted fat transfer to my butt to only fill up the slight depressions on the sides and give my butt a rounder and fuller look, I did not want a large butt. There should be no miscommunication / misunderstanding so you don't regret it later on.
2. Find a qualified doctor with enough experience and genuine good reviews. Even if you do not have much knowledge in this field, you can ask the doctor to explain to you in layman terms about how exactly he is going to do your surgery. Ask plenty of questions.
3. A catheter for the first 2-3 days will prove very useful especially if you are planning to do multiple areas.
4. The pain, soreness, weakness after surgery is definitely going to cause a lot of discomfort, restricted movement, irritation and frustration too! Although not easy, try not to pay any attention to it for your own peace at least - the more attention you give it, the longer it takes to heal ... at least seemed so to me! Also, the compression garment can be torture for upto 10 days. You have no choice but to wear it 24/7, so simply ignore it as much as you can.
5. If you think you cannot get someone to help you for the first 5 days - nearly 24 hrs for the first 2 days, do not undergo the surgery.
6. I personally preferred a liquid diet for the first 5 days despite the vomiting. Chewing and swallowing solid food may take a bit of an effort because your mouth is sort of dry and to me at least, it seemed like an effort. Also, due to dehydration, you mite feel thirstier than normal - drink plenty of water/ fluids
7. Be prepared to be constipated, swollen and bloated after the surgery.
8. A lot of women use special pillows after a butt lift or butt fat transfer. I didn't use any such things - I am not even sure they are available here. Neither did I make any changes in my lifestyle or food habits before the surgery - like reduce /stop salt intake. I do not take herbs anyways and neither do I smoke.
9. Patience and a calm mind is the key - always good to practise deep breathing, meditation, yoga. All these have healing properties - more than any medicine! You will observe how your body heals faster!
Wow - this is great information! Thanks!
