Breast Implant Revision in Australia

ORIGINAL POST

Thailand Breast Augmentation Revision Surgery

Emilyks
In 2013 at the age of 19 I packed my bags and headed to Phuket Thailand for a Breast Augmentation through a Medical Tourism Company.
All throughout high school and from a very early age I had always been unhappy with the size of my breasts. I found myself comparing them to all the other girls in my year at school as I got teased for being “flat chested”, I compared myself to my mum and sister who had nice breasts and to women in magazines/on tv. I never understood why they wouldn’t grow and it was something that made me extremely anxious and unhappy. I had heard about cosmetic holidays to Thailand through some older girls I was mutually friends with and on social Media. As I was so young, and in no financial situation to afford having a breast augmentation in Perth I decided to book my procedure with a surgeon in Thailand considering it was half the price and you get a holiday…. BONUS!!!Unfortunately, now at the age of 23, I’ve decided to seek an opinion from a surgeon here in Perth as I have spent the last four years post-surgery even more self-conscious of my body. My implants sit very low on my chest, give me no projection from the side and are extremely far apart (almost in my armpits & I still look flat chested if I’m not wearing a padded bra!). In the back of my mind I had always thought they didn’t look quite right, but never did anything about it. After doing A LOT of research, I decided to book a consultation with Dr Murray at Absolute Cosmetic Medicine to get an assessment from a surgeon here in Perth. I decided to attend his clinic, as he has an amazing reputation for fixing botched breast implants that were done in Thailand.I was extremely anxious and nervous to meet Dr Murray as I knew what he was going to say about travelling to Thailand for surgery. After explaining to him what I didn’t like about them, I put on a robe and showed him my breasts. He took one look at them and told me that he knew exactly what was wrong with them.He advised that I have bottoming out, “armpit boob” and capsular contracture. He said that this has occurred because of the choice of implants I went for (Mentor- 300cc Round Silicone Gel Moderate Plus Profile). When I was choosing the implants for my breast surgery in Thailand, not one of these complications was explained to me by my surgeon nor was it brought to my attention that Moderate Plus Profile was going to create problems for me in the very near future. My surgeon did tell me that the implants I was choosing were the incorrect choice for my body frame. As he was a plastic surgeon that had done THOUSANDS of Breast Augmentations, I completely trusted his judgement and didn’t ask any questions.Dr Murray went on to search the make and measurements of my implants on the Mentor Website. We struggled to find them listed on the website anywhere but eventually he found that the implants that I currently have are old and worn and of mediocre quality. Finding out this information made me extremely upset, and made me kick myself knowing that now I will have to find the money to have them redone correctly. In the back of my mind I knew it wasn’t the best idea to travel to a third world country for a major surgery, but at the time it looked ever so appealing with the “holiday” part of the advertising and the considerably cheap price. Dr Murray went into detail about the common complications and the number of patients he sees with botched jobs from Thailand. It’s unbelievable the number of women who end up having to pay twice for something that should be done correctly in the first place.Dr Murray made me feel very comfortable with his judgement and went through the different options that would be most suitable for my body frame to correct the complications that I have and to make them the breasts I have always wanted. After meeting with Dr Murray I met with the lovely & extremely helpful Patient Coordinator Cheryl. She went through and broke down everything in the quote that Dr Murray had written for me and answered any further questions that I had. She also went through available dates to book in my procedure and the different payment options as I unfortunately do not have the money saved that I am going to need. After going through the available dates with Cheryl, I picked a date, put a deposit down and booked in my revision surgery for late September and I could not be more excited! Once I have met with Dr Murray for my second and final consultation (picking my size and finalizing all the details) I will update my blog ????- Em

Hi how did u go? I just had mine in Thailand I didn’t put implant just reduction and lift . I’m thinking to put an implant with him once I’m all healed up. I wanted to know how much did you pay with doc Murray for augmentation? As I payed a lot of money for reduction and lift here with hotel etc . I wanted to come back for augmentation for fullness but one but I don’t think it’s worth the money in the end as it costed me at least 16000 all up with hostel and food .

Breast Implants done in Thailand - Unhappy & Not worth it

Emilyks
Here is a picture of me before and 3 years after my breast implant surgery done in Phuket, Thailand. I have had Bottoming out, Rippling and uneven nipples for 2 years and have been left feeling more self conscious about my breasts post surgery than I was being an A cup before my surgery. I have heard so many stories of other ladies being disappointed with their surgery results but you never see these negative reviews as the Medical Tourism Companies instantly delete any negative comments regarding infections post surgery and cosmetic problems but these are REAL outcomes that can occur from breast surgery especially overseas surgery. As soon as you return home it is nearly impossible to contact your surgeon with any concerns you have and the medical tourism consultants seem to want nothing to do with you once you have returned home. It is very distressing and concerning and I would never want anyone else to go through what myself and other women have experienced with cosmetic surgery done overseas.

Sept 5th - 2nd Consultation with Dr Murray Before my Revision Surgery

Emilyks
Today I had my second consultation in regards to my Breast Revision Surgery that is booked for Tuesday 26th September with Dr Glenn Murray at Absolute Cosmetic Medicine.
I met with Dr Murray to discuss the final details for my surgery- He took me through an extremely detailed consent form and made sure I understood everything to do with my procedure.
We discussed the best options in regards to the size and placement of my new implants and the realistic expectations for my body type. He also insisted on discussing the risks and complications that are related with Breast Surgery even though I have already had a Breast Augmentation.
I can honestly say I have walked away today feeling extremely confident with my choice in clinic, surgeon and Breast Implants. I cannot stress enough the relief I feel doing this in Australia, close to home with a trusted and experienced surgeon and team of practitioners.
Dr Murray took me through a series of before and after photos of botched Thailand surgeries he has corrected, and I was actually blown away with the amount of women who end up needing to have a revision surgery.
As the implants I currently have are completely incorrect for my body frame, we discussed the different sizing options that will leave me with the results that I originally hoped for when having my first surgery in Thailand. The implants I currently have are round 300cc smooth moderate plus profile and these will be replaced with round 430cc Ultra high profile implants. He explained to me exactly how he would achieve the results by describing the techniques used in the surgery. My current implants sit apart on my chest and almost disappear into my armpits; they sit very low and have little to no projection from the side.
The new implants that will be replacing my old ones are full projection, giving me fullness through the top and side of my breast and will sit a lot closer together to provide me with cleavage even without wearing a bra (HOORAY). I was originally struggling with what I wanted my new implants to look like, but Dr Murray did not rush me at all and took his time to explain every possible outcome with me.
I have now only got the last few things to organise before I go in for my procedure including my garment fitting, pre op blood tests and a water test. I am counting down the days now as my surgery approaches and will update you post surgery with how I’m feeling, my results and surgical outcome.

I think I’m in the exact same situation as you except I was botched in AUSTRALIA!! Melbourne in fact. My implants have bottomed out and also now live in my armpits and sag so bad you’d think I’ve breastfed 7 kids. I have no upper pole and essentially am flat chested
