I am extremely happy that I chose Dr. Horndeski for my procedure. I've had large breasts my entire life and although I have always wanted a lift and small reduction I never went forward with it because I was concerned about the anchor scars and eventual sagging. Then I found Dr. Horndeski on real self and I am extremely glad I did. I was an engineer for many years so the engineering approach to the problem of performing a breast lift with minimal scarring and no sagging overtime really resonated with me. I now work in the medical field so am giving my review from the perspective of an engineer and also from the medical side of things. I live in another state and did a phone consult with Dr. Horndeski and scheduled my surgery that day. Throughout the entire process, he and his staff were very helpful, informative and responsive. I flew into Houston the day before my surgery and did an in-person pre-surgical consult, we went through the procedure and he showed me images of the surgery being performed. He explained how he uses the lower portion of the breast tissue to support the breast and give it permanent lift, I liken it to creating a sling that supports the breast (my words not his) that connects at 9 points to the pectoral muscle to give maximum lift and support as well as a really great shape. When I was at the hospital the nursing staff (who are employees of the hospital so see many different surgeons work) said that I had chosen the best and that Dr. Horndeski was a perfectionist. This is what you want in a surgeon! They said that throughout the procedure he raises and lowers the surgical table to ensure that your breast will look great when you are upright, something I had wondered about so thought I would mention it in this review. On the day of the surgery I did some pre-op workup including a chest x-ray, bloodwork, urine pregnancy test and an ECG. Then they took me to the preop area to a private room. The thing I liked about this hospital was that my husband was able to be with me the entire time. Other surgeries I have had they have had him wait in a waiting area until I was gowned and had my IV in, etc. I was in a private pre-op room and Dr. Horndeski and PA-C Elisa came in and took pictures, measurements and made markings on my breasts to use as guides during surgery. They had an iPad with the software they developed to help with some of the calculations. As an engineer, I found it fascinating so had a lot of questions and they gladly answered all of my questions about why they were doing things and how the software worked. I told my husband that having seen the process and all the calculations and measurements they do prior to surgery it made me feel even more confident about my choice of surgeons. I liked and could understand the science behind it and that gave me a lot of comfort because I was a bit nervous admittedly. After the surgery, I was in recovery for about 2 hours and then went back to our hotel. I had drains in each breast which were a bit awkward but there is really no avoiding it. There was definitely a level of pain involved but it wasn't unbearable and I kept ahead of it with the meds. One thing I did notice pretty much right away was a relief from the back and shoulder pain that has pretty much plagued me all my life due to my heavy breast. Dr. Horndeski mentioned that other patients had said they felt immediate relief and I was kind of disbelieving until I experienced it myself. Elisa called the next day to see how I was doing and to answer any questions I had. My pain was not bad at all and my husband and I even walked to a nearby movie theatre to see a movie. My surgery was on a Friday and on Monday I went to Dr. Horndeski's office for a post-surgical consult and to get the drains removed. Drain removal does sting a bit but fortunately, he did it very fast and it was over before I knew it. I have read other reviews that Dr. Horndeski does not have a good bedside manner. I didn't find this to be the case at all. I found him very pleasant, knowledgeable, thorough and detailed. He and all of his staff were really kind and helpful. I am nearly 5 weeks post-op now and am thrilled with the results. I can't believe the lift that was achieved and think the shape is perfect. I've posted my before pictures and video and also a picture that was taken a few days ago. I did have one small complication, I had an allergic reaction the steri-strips so you will notice a lot of redness near all the suture areas. This is not common, I just happen to have a sensitivity to some adhesives. You will also notice some small indents along the suture line, Dr Horndeski and Elisa have assured me these will pop out. My husband is a physician and also said this will happen and the suture line will soften and smooth over time. My husband helped manage my treatment after we got home especially dealing with the allergic reaction to the steri-strips and he has commented many times how the suture line looks great and it will all be barely noticeable by the time I am fully healed. I am sure that most people reading this review have heard the phrase, "The Art of Medicine", much of medicine is an art, especially this type of surgery. I feel that Dr. Horndeski has blended this art with the science of engineering perfectly to give women a superb alternative to the traditional breast lift. Every surgeon should be doing the procedure this way. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone to Dr. Horndeski and in fact, have recommended him already!
