I've always had cankles since I can remember. Over time they had gotten a bit worse. It seems that I carry most of my extra fat in my legs. I never felt comfortable wearing shorts or skirts because of my legs. I was not able to find a doctor close to home who could do calf and ankle liposuction and was very pleased to find Dr.Su on the web. I had the procedure done today and the actual procedure was not as painful as I thought it would be. But I can tell the recovery is going to be intense. I was able to see immediate results the minute we were done. I can't even begin to describe what it feels like to look down and think "there's no way these are my legs," I feel like I finally have the beautiful legs that Mother Nature robbed me of. I would have done this years ago if only I had known it was possible; but I am glad that I was able to have Dr.Su perform this on me. He performed my lipo under local anesthesia, meaning I was awake the whole time. I was able to flex my calf muscles and turn to help achieve my amazing results. He even stood me up to check my progress; and all you ladies out there that have thicker legs know that the way your legs look standing is dramatically different than the way they look when you're lying down. I believe these techniques made all the difference in the world. There's no way I could have achieved these kind of results asleep under general anesthesia! Dr. Su has an educational degree in fine arts. He sculpts and sketches beautiful artwork. He used his artistic knowledge to envision how my legs would look and literally sculpted them to achieve his goal. I am currently post op about 6 hours and am fairly comfortable lying with my legs propped up. I have some pretty intense burning sensation when I am standing; but it's tolerable. I have taken very little pain needs but plan to keep them on schedule just in case.

How did the procedure cost you?
January 19, 2016
Could you post pictures now that you are past 6 months? Also, do you mind letting us know the cost of your surgery? Thank you so much for posting your experience!!
February 19, 2016
I just posted an update with pics! My husband also had some work done with Dr Su which provided some discount to me; I'd hate to post what it cost because it may not be the same for you but it was less than 10 grand but more than 5 ;)

You have wonderful results. Like SRB2012 I am wondering if you can provide an update on your results. I have a Skype consultation tomorrow with a doctor and would love to know if you have any advice, unexpected complications, etc. Thank you!

Let me know how your consultantion goes!!! I'm considering Dr Su as well. I love his work on cankles, but My concern is if DR Su removes much fat off the circumference of the upper calf.

My legs are sore today; they get stiff after I've sat for awhile; but after I get up and moving they do loosen up some. I'm starting to swell in my ankles. I have some mild swelling around my knee area too. I'm supposed to be at my peak of swelling around post op week 2. I am currently wearing support stockings and trying to keep my feet propped up as much as possible. I'm also trying to watch my sodium intake so that I don't bring on any extra fluid than necessary. Even with the swelling coming on I am very please with the way they look.

Thanks!

It is so nice that they took pics right after your surgery so you could see your results before the swelling really set in- just remember the swelling will go away and not to worry about it!  Easier said than done of course :)

Definitely keep us posted on what your healing process is like- we love to hear it all.

How's the recovery going??
June 23, 2015
The pain is very tolerable. I quit taking the prescription pains. I will take Tylenol if it gets worse but that's rare. I do have some comsiderable bruising. My legs swell quite a bit by the end of the work day. I try to prop them up when I can. Mostly the pain comes from a burning sensation on different areas. Somedays are worse than others for this. I have been wearing my compression stockings which helps some with the swelling and I like the way they feel on. They are a bear to put on. I walk stiffly at times but other than that recovery has not been bad. I know that I have several days of swelling ahead. My ankles are still smaller now than before the surgery!

Wow... you are back to work already?! Did you stay in FL for a few days or did you fly/drive right back? I am considering traveling for a revision procedure but unsure how the traveling would be, yikes. Does he take bulk fat off the calves as well, I would like the back of mine decreased so the circumference is not as big, if that makes sense...? Mine are just nasty all over thick! They are about 15 inches, I'd be happy with 13.5!

I flew to Florida on a Wednesday, surgery Thursday, post op visit on Friday, flew back on Saturday. Went to work Monday. The total amount of time on the plane was about 2 hours. I would suggest getting a seat up front so you can have more leg room to keep your legs stretched out; but it really wasn't that bad. He did say he could thin my calves up some so I took that to mean that he can do some fat removal in that area. My legs didn't really taper so he focused more on given my legs a more pleasing shape. I don't know that the circumference of my calf is going to be dramatically smaller. I didn't measure immediately post op. But he said that's something he could do later on if I wanted it done. And I might, but really my lack of ankle is what bothered me the most.

Cool! Thanks for the info! Post more pics when you are healed up! They look super! I would be thrilled if mine turned out that good!

I really think that Dr. Su does a great job and you'd be in good hands if you do wind up letting him do your revision!

Yes it was a dream! If someone would've said "I'll pay for any cosmetic procedure you want" I'd pick this over and over without doubt! Biggest boost to my sled confidence than anything else I could've done

Sorry I didn't update sooner but I am to report that I am still ecstatic with my results! I had some numbers in parts of my ankles for several weeks; to a couple of months. This is now pretty much back to normal. I do still have some swelling after a long day, but I always had some of that even before the surgery. I don't really notice the swelling unless I had on tight shoes or socks.. The scars from the small holes he made for the lipo canula have faded quite a bit; but I'd take those tiny marks over my cankers any day. When he did my procedure he didn't take a lot of fat from over the top the calves themselves so the circumference of my calf is still bigger than most girls but now that I have a slim ankle it just looks like I have muscular curvy legs that are pretty sexy in heels. I still have trouble finding boots that I can zip over my calves. Dr Su said if I wanted I could come back and have him take more fat from the actual calf but I honestly don't think I'll bother. One unexpected benefit that I am going to contribute to my surgery is that I get a closer smoother shave on my lower legs.. I used to be one of those people who could shave but still not feel super smooth. Now they feel really smooth! I can only surmise that the fat beneath the skin was allowing the hair follicle the ability to squish down away from the blade.. Now there is just muscle below that is firm and the skin doesn't squish when shaving. I don't know if this is something that everyone post cankle lipo experiences but even my husband raves about how smooth my legs are now after shaving! I love wearing skirts and dresses now! I feel so feminine and pretty!! You would never catch me dead in dresses or skirts before. I have a fair complexion so the scars are noticible if you are looking but with a little spray tan you hardly see them! I would recommend this procedure to anyone who has suffered low self esteem due to large ankles! You won't regret it!
