Disastrous Surgery

This was a devastating and traumatic experience that caused extensive and permanent damage to my face. I DO NOT want this to happen to anyone else. At just over 3 years post-surgery, I continue to suffer from the same issues. I use camouflage makeup in an attempt to try and look "normal", but to no avail. If anyone has any tips on how to disguise my hyperpigmented, shiny cheek lumps, I'd really appreciate it. Also, please don't believe the phony positive reviews!!

Hi! I just sent a separate message to you on post that I started a while back. Hopefully you will see it. As a suffering patient of Dr. Scheiner's laser procedure (2 years out), I am here to talk if you need another shoulder. I have been in the depths of despair and have experienced every single thing that you have expressed. I, also, would not feel comfortable posting pictures, b/c I am a very private person. I don't know how to do it, but I would be available to talk privately if you ever want to discuss. The only small reprieve that I've had is by using raw honey and emu oil on my face daily...just started the past two weeks and have seen some hypergigmention subsiding. BTW - have had days when I can't get out of bed. The shiny, waxy, lumpy, orange peel texture is SOOOOO hard to cover with make-up, even looking worse when trying to cover. I feel your pain!!!!

Thank you for your reply. I know what you mean about feeling like you're in the depths of despair, and I'm so sorry this happened to you. I'm so shocked and saddened that a DOCTOR could do this to people. If you'd like to talk, maybe we could private message each other? I just feel like he takes patients in through a revolving door, and then kicks them out as soon as he's done with them. Did he follow up with you? Did they take after pictures of you? I had none of that. I felt so abandoned and alone after the surgery was done. I was scared, because I saw that so much was going wrong with my recovery, and my concerns were all dismissed, or explained away. Thank you for the suggestion about the raw honey and emu oil. I'll have to look into that.

I am not sure what to use to cover spots but I am on the Obagi system because I have hyperpimentation. . Brown spots from acne and the Obagi system after 3 months cleared it up ..

15,000 for laser resurfacing? That seems very bizarre to me that you would even consider paying that. I'm sure this doctor wasn't the only one you spoke to about a price. That's outrageous! I am truly sorry you're so unhappy with your results. That's horrible that happened to you.

It was more than laser resurfacing. There were other procedures, too. I went to him as he was the self-professed expert on festoons. He's not at all what he claims to be.

I am writing this review, with the hope that no one else will have to go through the pain and suffering that I have lived with for the past 2 years. This surgery is not a routine procedure, and can cause significant damage to your face, your self-esteem and your pocketbook. I wake up every morning, and see a damaged face in the mirror. I think that it is irresponsible and unethical for this doctor to appear on national television, leading you to believe that it is safe to have parts of your face burned off. Unfortunately, I fell for it, and now I'm living a nightmare everyday. I wish that it was possible to turn back time. I have hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, persistent erythema, volume loss, scarring, and an altered skin tone/texture (the treated skin is very waxy and shiny). To add insult to injury, my festoons did not go away, and actually look worse because the shiny, waxy looking skin makes them stand out more. Makeup does not help much, and I feel so self-conscious EVERY SINGLE DAY. I followed all of the post-op instructions to the letter, and this still happened to me. Please take my advice, and do not undergo this procedure. It is not worth it.

Have you gone back to Dr. Scheiner to complain. I see a post from someone who was not perfectly happy and they state that the doctor rectified what they did not like..... I am considering surgery by Dr Schiener. I have only found you and another lady who posted bad results. I am very torn. I do not understand what went wrong with your procedure and why the dr did not take care of it. Are you willing to send some photos. another lady that commented sent me pictures and she looks fantastic......so so confusing and scary

Hi.. Did you get your procedure done with him ? I have an appointment for mine and now that I see this review I'm very afraid to do it . Burning your skin and hopping for it to grow back its scary !! What I'd not ?! I feel awful for this lady . I've already messed up my face by fillers . Afraid to make it worse

Please don't have this procedure with Dr. Scheiner! I had a horrible result, and I've heard from many others who had the same experience as me. I question the validity of his positive reviews... They all sound as though they were written by the same person, with the same cutesy catch phrases.

I'm reading your comment now after 4 years later you posted. I am thinking surgery by this doctor, but all went wrong surgeries and irresponsible after surgeries scared me too. Did you get surgery from Dr. Scheiner?
