I have had three consults and finally made a decision on my surgeon. Dr. Castellano will be doing my breast augmentation. My appointment was at 11 and they told me to expect to be there for an hour. They called me back right at 11 and I spent about 45 minutes talking with Dr. Castellano and his administrator Pam. They made me feel comfortable and answered all my questions and explained every part of the process. I am very excited and very nervous. I hate having to schedule so far in advance but with work that’s the earliest I can schedule. I’ll keep you guys updated!

Recovery Bra Recommendations?

clsieber
I have found myself looking at realself a lot over the last two weeks. I enjoy reading each persons experience and things they wish they knew ahead of time. I have learned a lot about the healing process and the rollercoaster of thoughts and emotions everybody goes through. I am so excited for my surgery and wish I could get it done now instead of in another 5 weeks.
One thing I have a question about is a recovery bra. Does anybody have a recommendation? I am an ICU nurse and plan on taking a week off work for the surgery and my surgeon has already said I will wear a recovery bra post-op. I will be up and moving a lot (with exception of turning patients and lifting) so I want something that will be very supportive. I am also open to any other advice you guys may have about returning to work, clothes to buy for recovery, and really anything you want to share.

Hello clseiber! I had my op 6 days ago. I’ve found the recovery process hard. First 4 days were the worst. But feel I’m getting bette now. I bought two of the macom bras which I think are really really supportive. They kind of hold everything up and pulled in. They’re quite expensive (£37 each or so) but if you’ve spent something like 5k on your boobs then you’d want to put them in something decent and well made. I’ve got one of those JML bamboo bras that’s in all the shops now which is really comfortable but not sportive. Definitely recommend the macom ones.

MissG21, Thank you for the response! I️ just read some reviews about the macom bra and it seems like most people love it! I️ like that you don’t need to know your cup size to get the right one. I’m going to order one today as I’m just over two weeks from surgery now! If you have any other advice I’m all ears. Thank you again!

I ordered 2 and a strap. Can be wearing one while ones washing. The hospital gave me a strap to wear and take home but it’s not as comfy as the macom one (although can’t really say that’s comfy either but between the two the macom one is definitely the easiest to wear). Handy to have a spare. The fabric of the macom bra stretches over your boobs but still holds them snug. I have to put cotton pads in it to cover my nipples as having the bra that tight against them makes them feel sore. I looked at sports bras etc but think they are ideal o stop them jiggling about when exercising but don’t think they’re the best thing to offer support straight out of surgery. I paid something like £92 for 2 bras and a strap. I’ve never spent £92 on bras altogether throughout my entire life let alone for 6 weeks but I suppose you want to look after them from day one when you think what you’ve paid for your boobs. You wouldn’t buy the iPhone X then look for a cheap case to act as a cover but didn’t offer much protection!

29 days and counting...

Today I am 29 days away from surgery. I am beyond excited. I am also nervous about how I will look and feel afterwards. I am an ICU nurse and will only be taking a week off work before heading back. When I come back they will put me as charge nurse to avoid taking and lifting patients.

I am still trying to figure out what supplies I will need. I know they will give me all my prescriptions at my pre-op as well as two surgical bras. I have a bunch of pillows to keep me propped up at night already. I will probably invest in a neck pillow here soon though. On top of supply gathering, I am trying to get back to working out a little and eat healthy.

Open to any suggestions about supplies, bras, work.... :)

I have attached some wish pics to show at my pre-op in two weeks.
